CONGRATS TO Matt and Jen and their newly born home theater addict!

READ IS COMPLETE!

Here's a sample mp3 238KB (http://www.tinstudio.com/files/sample2.mp3)

Let me know what you think.

I'm going to try and get the CDs done by the end of the weekend.

** OLD NEWS ************************************************************ **

Payments can be made via paypal to htvoiceover@gmail.com

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR AVS SCREEN NAME IN THE COMMENTS SECTION

If you need to make payments via another souce, drop me a line.

The read will happen on October 12th

Back by popular demand.

We will be doing another round of custom voiceovers for use in your home theater. Here is an example of the narrator we will be using.
Volume 1 Demo (http://max-headroom.com/nar/demo.mp3)

Copies of Volume 1 are still available and you can learn more about it here:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=711484&page=1&pp=50

Same deal as last time.

1. You are allowed to ad your theater name and 30 words of custom lines.

For example:

(theater Name) - The Jedi Theater
(custom words) - Come to the dark side and feast at our imperial snackbar.

2. If you have any lines that you feel other may like, post them and I'll add them to the generics.

Note: We our going to try and make sure nothing from volume 1 is repeated. The exception to the rule will be anything that didn't come out right in volume 1 or if there is a specific request for a different inflection. If you have one of these requests, please send them via email and I will add it to the script.

3. Send an email to htvoiceover@gmail.com with your real name, AVS screen name and a short msg letting me know you want in. If you know your custom lines right away, send them too.

4. Don't pay yet. I will let you know when. The cost will be the same as last time if we reach the 30 person mark, otherwise it may be a bit higher. I will keep the list open until Oct 20th or 30 people, whichever comes first.

5. When the read is complete, you will have the choice of download or having a CD sent via USPS.

6. HAVE FUN WITH THIS. I've received a number of suggestions for the generic stuff that I think we should pursue. One suggestion was for themed lines. Like:

"Welcome to the Slaughter Film Fest. Grab a fist full of popcorn, a chilling beverage and don't forget the barf bag"

Some themes to explore are:
Action
Romance
Sci Fi
Horror
B-Movies
Children's films
Halloween
New years
Specific movies like Star Wars and LOTR
etc.

Like last time, I will filter the script so that we keep within the scheduled narration session.

Let me know if you have any questions and let the fun begin =)

Jason,

I'm pretty sure it's just the Gouger Home Theater, since that's what Joe did for Alan's custom 20th Century Fox logo:

Excellent question. I've always pronounced it in my head as "Gouge-ur". Like someone gouged out my eyes. Maybe it's Goo-zhay? Heck, we might have to spoil the surprise like Reaper had to when he had to ask him what his theater room name was. :)

Hi all,

One of the members had voiced that they thought the reread of volume 1 lines was unfair to volume 2 participants. I just wanted to let you know, that the cost of the rereads will have no bearing to the cost of the volume 2 read. Both are being quoted separately and the costs of the rereads will be covered by money i have left over from the first read.

I have removed those lines from this thread and posted on the original tread in order to remove any confusion. If anyone who participated in part one needs something fixed, please let me know in that thread.

thanks

I know we don't want to duplicate volume one lines on the volume two cd. Does that mean we will have access to the volume one lines in addition to volume 2. I missed out on volume 1 but like some of the generic and a few custom lines.

mheadroom

Is there a price for the generic Vol. 1 along with custom Vol. 2? Or would they just be considered separate purchases?

You're in Mike. This set should be just as fun. I think there were a lot of things that were missed in volume 1. That and i have a couple of movie buff freinds who want in and are supposed to be working on some great theme reads for us.

srw1000
09-21-06, 10:37 PM
Sorry, I'm still a little confused. Is the pricing for the generic Volume 1 $27.00?

The reason that I'm asking, is that for people participating in Volume 2, they'll almost have to buy volume 1 for the generic info that won't be repeated in Volume 2. Whereas the people who participated in Volume 1 had a fully usable package.

** Long Rant Removed **

I'm keeping the volumes seperate. I still think it's a great value even if you have to buy both discs but if you still have issues with my decision you have a couple of options.

1. Don't participate.

2. I'll give you the number of the studio and you can setup your own narration session with Greg.

3. Dean Roddey mentioned that he has a friend who can create a fully produced audio intro for you. He seemed to think the cost would be about $250 but this would include a music bed and sound effects. This may be an option for you.

4. Finally, you could buy Techtalker from Cinemar. TT seems to be a well put together disc with tons of generics.

If anyone has an issues with my decision and would like to be removed, please let me know.

I missed out on Volume #1 for the custom reads. I still bought a copy
and LOVE it.

I'm in for the second read to get my customs reads done.

People suck it up and buy a copy of Volume #1 and get in on Volume
# 2 for your custom reads.

It's not THAT EXPENSIVE.

Robert Clark
09-22-06, 01:35 AM
Well, I missed volume one, so I'm in for volume 2!

How about:

Welcome to the Clark Picture Palace!

Now featuring HD-DVD and Blu-ray movies.

I'll try to come up with something clever, assuming this thread doesn't somehow blow up...

Mark Booth
09-22-06, 02:28 AM
Jason,

Please sign me up as a purchaser of Volume 2. I will buy it regardless if I come up with any custom lines or not. I will give some thought to what (new) custom lines I might like (as well as potentional generics) and post them to this thread in a day or two.

Thank you!!

Mark <--- Who's VERY happy to pay for BOTH volumes to get as much voiceover selections as possible

After tossing and turning last night I decided to remove my rant and I'm dedicated to making today a good day! Let's start with some new lines:

Summer
Spring
Fall
Winter
Holiday Season
One family's home theater

In a world, where movies reign supreme. One family must fight to entertain an entire audience. This summer John, Jane and a hollywood cast of thousands, star in, the XYZ Theater.

We should do some over the top reading like in this trailer. It's awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfIlGKlaTSI

mheadroom
09-22-06, 07:27 PM
Due to the lack of generics and the large number of participants, I have decided to open this up to more people. As long as we can fit the read in the alotted time, the price will go down even further. As in the first round, I will use my judgment as to when I close the list. If I see a slow down in people joining as we hit 30, I'll keep that as the cutoff.

mheadroom
09-22-06, 07:48 PM
How is everyone using thier intros? I'll start:

I edited mine in soundforge and mixed it with the fox fan fare. I then used that is the @0th Fox Animation from Reaper.

I know, it's doring and everyone is doing it but I still like it. :D

For this volume 2 disc I'm making up a couple of special surprises. Those will be a bit more original in concept.

Mark Booth
09-23-06, 01:26 AM
Jason,

A couple of generics to consider:

If someone wants to put together a bunch of over the top trailer scripts, we should definitely add them.

I also think we should be adding a bunch of theme stuff.

Keep the lines coming. Just post them in the thread and I'll grab them. Having them in the thread might to inspire others :D

Look though the other thread. A number of people near the end posted their intros using this narrator. Maybe the network cops at you office will let you though to them.

Besides, we'd really need a full list of all baseball/football/hockey/basketball teams (let alone all the college team names) for it to be really useful. Maybe round 3. ;)

Do you want

"And now for the Freiburg theater feature presentation."

or

"And now, for the Freiburg theater's feature presentation."

"And now, for the Freiburg theater feature presentation. "

That's what's in the video render at the end of my CERT intro from Bitstream Animation (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=639709). I'm planning on ripping the CERT intro from the DVD and seeing if I can dub that voiceover onto it at the end.

Thanks for clarifying!

Here's my grand plan:

Putting together the Coke slides (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=564456) into a slideshow video with "5 minutes till showtime" and "1 minute till showtime" announcements, followed by either Reaper or Blazer03's 20th century fox render (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=715166) with "Welcome to the Freiburg theater" mixed onto the fox fanfare mp3 (or .ac3 file if i can figure out how to edit that!), followed by a new "Previews" slide I'll make to be shown behind a "Coming soon to the Freiburg theater" (if I can manage to splice that together) voiceover, then some trailers, then the Cert intro which finishes with "And now, for the Freiburg theater feature presentation. Enjoy the Show", then of course the movie.

And all this is, of course, given I can find the time to put it all together. We've got our first child due Oct. 7th, and I'm taking some time off from work when he/she comes, so I can't tell whether I will or won't have time to put this together. It would be nice if when people inevitably come over to see the new baby, I could take them down to the basement and show them "MY baby." :)

Here's what I patched together last night and this morning.

Think of this going with some slides with the logos of the technologies/manufacturers mentioned. So when he says "DTS-ES," a DTS-ES logo will display, then when he says "Dolby Digital EX," the presentation will transition to a Dolby Digital EX logo, and so on.

I'll have to work on the slides and video next, but I really need to get my butt back down in the basement to put my theater back together!

Jason,

Has the "special something" been made available for download yet?

I assume you're done with it, now that the discs have gone out.

ND,

actually it's the exact opposite. I was in such a rush to get the discs out I haven't made the "something special" yet. It will still be avail as download only but most likely won't be ready until after the weekend. I'll keep everyone posted.

Received mine on Friday and I played around with it off and on over the week-end...I'm having way too much fun with this :) I need to settle down and crank out a final disc; I'm using these voice overs, the coke slides and the music from freeplaymusic [dot] com to put together my intro.

thanks Jason!!!

when is the reading scheduled for volume 3? ;)

Attempted to post a sample of the intro I made for my kids. The exxtensions recognized here are visual files, anyone know a work-around for .wav or .wma type attachments?

ND23
10-23-06, 10:27 AM
Don,

If you have it, try using WinZip to add your .wav file to a .zip file. You'll be allowed to post the .zip file, as long as it is small enough.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share what I've done with these voice over files. In addition to a custom patched together voice over for the start of the movie, here's a file that I put together for about 45 minutes before the start of my upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show movie night.

http://www.trubey.net/001.mp3

I programmed my lighting control system to start a dedicated MP3 player which will play this file at a set time. The lighting system also blasts the lights on and off in sync with the thunder clap at the beginning of the MP3. It then dims the lights and turns on a UV panel while the rest of the clip is played. At the end of the clip, the lights flicker again and go back to normal.

So Max,
Is there going to be a volume three? and if so when might that be?

mheadroom
10-29-06, 11:15 AM
Not sure if/when there will be a volume 3. If so I think I'm going to go with a differnet narrator. The studio called me last week and said that becasue we have now done 2 at what they feel is a reduced rate, they won't do it for that cheap again. They want at least double next time.

Currently I'm working on a narration CD for the Home Automation crowd. I'm using a woman with a Brtish accent for that. Wasn't going to do any cutom lines for that though.

I would just watch the forums. I am playing with the idea that maybe we do it every four months or making it an automated thing. I still have to work out some details.

That's too bad I really like that narrator. Probably could get twice as many people. Oh well that is sad.

mheadroom
10-29-06, 04:10 PM
I think it would really come down to what the participants had to say. If everyone was willing to pay the price then fine.

The alternate narrator, Bob, is just as good if not better than the current narrator, Greg, and his prices are very good. So good that I could get Bob to read volumes 1, 2 and 3 for the same that Greg is going to charge for just Volume 3.

Here's a sample read he gave me from volume 1

Bob S. Sample Read (http://www.max-headroom.com/nar/BobS.mp3)

PAP,

Make sure you are using WinRAR 3. The PAR files are there so you can recover from just such an error. Just run them through QuickPar and it will repair the files.

Try that and if you are still having problems drop me an email. I haven't been on the board much this week due to work issues so email would be best right now.

Anyone else having trouble with the files with music? Mine has static, and crashes the audio card...

Wonder if it's too late for the CD?

mheadroom
11-17-06, 02:19 AM
The CD is a data CD so that won't change anything as far as the files go.

Only one person said anything about static in the files but that in Volume 1 I belive. In the end it was their software that didn't support 48k wavs. As soon as they tried another app it was fine.

Check the settings on your soundcard and player. The recordings are made at 48Khz. If you play them back at 44.1, you get static and bad sounds.

In case anyone is interested, we are currently having Bob read volume 3 as well as volumes 1 & 2. This is because Greg's price has climbed to an outragous rate. Going forward I will be using Bob for these reads.

I know some of you were interested in having your reads done by Bob. Copies of the new read (vol 1-3) are available to anyone participating in volume 3.
