Hi,
I recently bought a Sony DAV-DX 255 home theater system for my media room. The media room was pre-wired for a home theater system. However, to my disappointment, Sony seems to use some proprietary connectors to connect to the A/V Receiver. :(. What are my best options to use my pre-wiring for the system? I looked around in Fry's etc for the connectors, but they said they didn't have them available. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
SG
There is a picture of the speaker connectors in the user manual:

They do indeed look like proprietary connectors. My guess is that you would not be able to purchase a connector like that. If you were to contact Sony Parts, they would probably only sell you the whole speaker cable.
I guess I would cut the supplied speaker cables and splice them to your pre-wiring. That should work fine as long as you make a good connection.

This is pretty easy. Looking at pg 15 of the pdf file, it shows you which is + and -. simply connect the + and - of the sony wire end to the + and - of the pre-wired end. You can either solder them together (my recommendation) or use those plastic electrical ends caps to connect the two.

Thanks for the suggestions! I guess I will have to just solder them to the existing pre-wire. I will let you know my findings.
Thanks!

Realizing this response is a bit late, for others out there looking for a solution you can simply use 1/8" slide on speaker connectors that are used for car stereo speakers. The connectors fit on just right and will allow you to use much higher quality speaker wire than what Sony provides with the HTIB.
I initially ordered the Monster Cable HTIB-SV kit for Sony Dreamcast and Kenwood systems thinking the connectors would fit, but they're too big. But I can't complain because I picked up up for $30 including shipping off of eBay (retail is $79 at Fry's, Best Buy, etc...) and it included an S cable and 140 feet of speaker cable split up into 6 different cable lengths to for front, rear, center, and the subwoofer. And you can hear the difference in the sound using the HTIB Monster cable setup.

I am in the same boat. Can someone advise where to get these connectors from?
Cheers.

Sorry, all I wanted to do was post a hopefully helpful link, not clutter up the forum
