Any suggestions on the best (and cheapest) place to buy a BIC H100 sub? I've seen posts mentioning a price of around $200, but I haven't seen anything that low.

The authorized dealer for Bic "acousticsounddesign" is the sellers name, runs auctions for them there continously. They list them there for around $240 but they have a make an offer option. Many have reported making an offer at or around $200 and it being accepted. USCsuperfan 10-10-06, 01:46 PM You have to go to ebay. I'm curious to know how low they will go. mastarecoil 10-10-06, 02:00 PM Lowest offer I ever heard of was $190. Might as well try a lower offer, the worst they are going to do is say no. monomer 10-10-06, 04:51 PM There are at least two other dealers who are also auctioning off large quantities at regular intervals on eBay... just do a search. And if you do a "completed auctions" search, click on purchases to see the actual prices paid, by people making "best offers". To date, the lowest offers accepted have been $190. That price seems to be the lowest acceptable price for all three dealers... so I would make an offer to the one with the lowest shipping costs (which in NON-negotiable). It seems everytime a thread starts up here about the BIC H-100, a large number of people suddenly put in bids/offers over on eBay. At this rate, these guys will never accept anything less than $190, however I'll just bet that if they suddenly stopped getting these higher bids, the price would come down yet further. I guess its just the law of supply and demand in action... and everyone here seems to think $190 + $30 shipping = $220 is a really good price. Personally, I'm waiting for the current 'buzz' here to finally die down so the prices can REALLY drop to below $200... that would be like $170 plus shipping. Until then I'll just make do with my 12" mod-podge Sony sub. jvgillow 10-10-06, 06:06 PM The buzz probably won't die down until there is another ~$230 contender for best all-around subwoofer (besides the Cadence Xsub which doesn't get discussed all that often). mynym 10-10-06, 06:23 PM How does the H100 compare to the SVS PB10? Buckeyefan 10-10-06, 07:05 PM The buzz probably won't die down until there is another ~$230 contender for best all-around subwoofer (besides the Cadence Xsub which doesn't get discussed all that often). People probably don't remember, but the Cadence XSUB was once offered on ebay for $189 with free shipping. As soon as Craigsub did a review, and I mentioned it at Audioholics, the price jumped up to $249. I haven't seen it drop since. To top it off, Cadence has some issues with their monster class A/B amps humming. I've had three amps in my Cadence, and finally got a quiet one. It's got similar build quality, a much bigger and more powerful amp, but the driver is a notch down from the H100. It still fills my almost 4000 cu/ft room with bass down to 25Hz, so I'm not complaining. $190 for the H100 ($220 shipped) is a great deal. I think I may opt to spend a few dollars more for something like this though - every component is a step up from the Acoustech sub, and you're talking almost 62lbs. of subwoofer. It will pressurize a room much more efficiently than most 12" subs in equal or smaller cabinets. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-770 USCsuperfan 10-10-06, 07:17 PM Lowest offer I ever heard of was $190. I went a little lower. :) tkc9789 10-14-06, 05:15 PM Can someone who has the Acoustech H-100 tell me how much is this sub weight? I was unable to find this info. Thanks. Robo72 10-14-06, 07:40 PM 42 lbs. Ron Temple 10-14-06, 11:57 PM How does the H100 compare to the SVS PB10? It doesn't really. Along with Buck, I went with the Cadence XSub for awhile. Hum problems, but a pretty decent sub for the money. Did a comparison to cyberbri's H100, which was a notch better. On hearing a PB10 or other SVS subs, you immediately understand why they cost at least twice as much. When you start listening to expensive subs $1-4 grand you realize how great a deal they are. I'm not saying they are the best, just outstanding performance for their price point. crackyflipside 10-15-06, 12:11 AM It doesn't really. Along with Buck, I went with the Cadence XSub for awhile. And once you hear a DIY sub costing the same as an expensive sub, you will want to build your own ugly black boxes and tubes! :p Ron Temple 10-15-06, 02:36 AM I've got a 12.2 driver sitting in a box waiting for me to get ambitious... :D supark 01-31-07, 02:49 AM I went a little lower. :) I offered $180 initially and they wouldn't go any lower than $229 shipped (so $200 for the sub). Still a great deal. abuharabi 03-20-07, 12:37 PM Mine was shipped (or billed??) on 3/15. Given that was 5 business days ago, I was hoping that it would have showed up or at least ups would have said where it was. How long does shipping typically take? I oredered on ebay from Mike at acoustic sound design. jlsrpierce 03-20-07, 06:44 PM Abu I'm about to finally order the same, how much did you get yours for please? jnick1 03-21-07, 12:56 PM Overstock sells the sub. The only reason I went with them is I could return it if I didn't like it or if it was too much for my room. It's initially $270 there, however I had a coupon which brought i down to $232 shipped - relatively the same price as the ebay seller without the whole "All sales are final" catch. unleashed 03-23-07, 03:05 AM Where did you get the coupon? pete the bully 08-10-07, 10:18 PM I just bought a pair off of eBay. $200 each. $78 for shippings. I wish I had found AVS before I offerend $200, $190 would have been better LOL Right now I have four (2 pair) of subwoofers in the HT system. Old system, and excellent sounding Pioneer Elite VSX-99 first gen DD receiver, all Yamaha speaker systems except the bass. A pair of NS-A838 for LR, a pair of NS-A838 for center, and a pair of NS-A638 for surronds. Right now two pair of subwoofers. Yamaha SA-WM500 and A-Neutronics A-NS12. I don't think they are accepting offers less than $200 now anyway as these have become so popular, so don't sweat it! chernomorez 11-29-07, 05:55 PM Just bought this subwoofer on Overstock. Base price $277 less 10% $250 less 20% (paypal discount) : $200 llep64 11-30-07, 02:47 PM how it compares to a jbl 12 sub?. inca 11-30-07, 03:52 PM I have a Cadence CSX-12 sub, and they say the BIC-100 and it are in the same league. I can't speak for the BIC, but the Cadence has much, much better bass then the JBL-PB12 that I had. The JBL was way more muddy then the cadence, not as clean, and didn't reach down as deep. I thought the JBL was wonderful while I had it, but now that I have the Cadence I can see what I was missing. mojo_13 11-30-07, 04:28 PM chernomorez I was just wondering how you got the 10% off and the 20% off from overstock. Do they automatically just come off or do you have to put in a coupon code or something. Thanks for the info. Also I assume you still get the factory warranty? I think the 20% is some paypal promotion where you have to sign up for a Mastercard but I could be wrong about that. ******* RE: The BIC product line. How do the other subs in the BIC lineup rate? I saw a few others on eBay that are listed on the sellers website but haven't seen any reviews for those. Jakeman02 12-01-07, 09:21 AM How do the other subs in the BIC lineup rate? They don't compare, if your going with Bic get the H-100 it's in a class of it's own in comparison. ncibob 12-01-07, 10:34 AM The H-100 sub is excellent for the money. I purchased one off of ebay a couple of months ago for $200. I have not once regretted my purchase once and I watch allot of movies and play out of video games. Everything sounds great out of it. Labonte 12-01-07, 10:50 AM how does this compare to the av 123 x-sub? ack_bk 12-01-07, 08:17 PM how does this compare to the av 123 x-sub? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=9164136#post9164136 Craigsub had the BIC-100 ranked higher for home theater and the x-sub ranked higher for music. Both got identical overall scores. If you want a HT sub, get the BIC-100. I just picked up the Elemental Designs A2-300. chernomorez 12-14-07, 08:49 AM I think the 20% is some paypal promotion where you have to sign up for a Mastercard but I could be wrong about that. Paypal promo was discussed in other threads, no longer available. On another note, the sub from Overstock came in dead on arrival in the manufacturer box, which was quite severed in transit. After a quick call they agreed to send in the replacement, which I'm still wating for. Shipment comes from Nevada, and it takes a while to get to the east coast. |
