I saw this model at Tweeter tonight, but it doesn't appear on Pioneer's website. The salesman at Tweeter mentioned that it might be made specifically for Tweeter.

The picture looked great and the in store [EDIT]. It was directly over the Panasonic 600U and looked better than the Panny, IMO. I'm a little skeptical about buying a TV that there is no information on...even if it is a Pioneer. Are there other Pioneers that are nice in this price range?

Tweeter is a large enough dealer that they have their own exclusive model. The PDP4216HD is more of an entry model and the PDP4270HD is more in the middle of Pioneer's product lineup. Tweeter doesn't post all the specs for the 4216 on their website; not sure why.

I just saw this TV at Sound Advice today and I like it, but I would also like more info on it......

I know Costco had some "lower end" pioneer models a while back. I wonder if these are similar?

Ok, I finally took the plunge and bought it last weekend from Tweeter. This is my first HDTV so I'm a bit skeptical. TV looks great (flat black finish) but PQ is so so on SD cable box. HD cable will be installed tonight and hopefully will get a chance to view some DVDs. I'll keep you posted on my viewing experience to pioneer's entry level PDP.

HD cable has been installed and I've got to say - WOW! PQ is great, very deep black levels and the color is rich. I've never watched Discovery channel before but that will change now.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a pioneer HDTV on a buget. Btw, this set is assembled in USA with parts from Japan, South Korea and other countries.

I just got a $300 price adjustment on my 4216HD. Did I mention I love my Pioneer HDTV? The built-in 10 watts speakers are holding up fine for now until I get my surround sound system.

How'd you do that? Are these still available? I scored a $1200 Panny 42" plasma today online, but would really like the Pio. My Sound Advice said these were in limited numbers and that they only had 1 left, and that was a month ago or whatever.

I bought the Pio first week of November... when I saw the price drop on line, I went to a nearby Tweeter and they gladly adjusted the price. Tweeter will match any price from competitors within 30 days.

Congrats maybe I need to call around. $1699?

Hi guys a buddy of mine works for Pioneer and I've been informed that this model does not had a typical pioneer panel but one that is made by NEC. Sound like the PQ is okay from what you guys have mentioned, sounds like its decent.
