I have a question for anyone who has the MainStage or the MainStage HD. We're looking at this product, but one thing I don't like is that it has a separate remote control. Preferably, I'd like to control it using our Tivo remote.

Therefore, I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the MainStage products are controllable using the Tivo remote. I.e., perhaps SoundMatters used the same codes as a receiver of a different brand, such that I could easily program the Tivo remote to control the Sound Matters.

More generally, has anyone had any success controlling the MainStage (and frankly, I just need volume up/down and mute) using any remote control other than the one it comes with -- and of course, any remote control other than a learning remote. My wife is very partial to the Tivo remote, so that would be the best situation.

Thank you!

- Mike.

There is no code that will make the TIVO remote control control any functions on the MAINstageHD. I know that Dishnetworks new DVR remote control does a very good job with the MAINstageHD, but that is about the only name brand remote control I have found to work with it so far. You may though, be jumping too fast at rejecting a learning remote control. They may take a little longer to set up but!!!
The last one I set up for a Tivo customer was just an inexpensive ($20) One For All URC6820. I set the buttons up in the TV mode so that he almost never has to change from the TV mode on his remote. The power button turns the TV on and off. The channel up and down and the number buttons as well as the normal play, rewind etc. buttons control the Tivo, and the volume up and down and mute buttons control
the MAINstageHD. It took mus about 25 minutes to set it up the first time, but since then he just picks up the remote and does his thing with no thinking involved.
