Well if it's too expensive, you can pay $50 for the adaptor that allows you to save files to your PC's hard drive. I have a 300 GB drive so..........

How will you put your old save files onto the new one?

I've got me a sata to usb adapter much cheaper than the X-sata and works just as well...Picked it up for 10 bucks! I rarely use it, I still have like 9gigs left...

Im still wondering if its going to be possible that their will be an adapter that connects on the 360s HDD input on the console and have a usb connection on the other end and allows an external HDD to work...I bet if you copied the entire 20gig 360 HDD onto your pc, loaded it on the external one and their was an adapter available I bet the 360 would accept it...

I wish it would release this holiday. I really need a larger hd, as mine is always full...and whenever something new is released I need to decide what has to be deleted.

Very curious on the price. At $100 the 20GB is way too expensive. I wish we MS brand HDD wasn't the only option for direct HDD.. cnickersonjr 's option could be the best option in he future.

I'd like to be able to keep more demos, but if the price is right.. Otherwise living with a 20GB is fine for now.

Cool, but they must put it at a low price point...........

X-SATA it can be found at any EB Games for like 50 bucks.....Still cheaper to go to radio shack and buy a SATA to USB adapter. Works the same way and costs much less.

Not sure of the price. I think it's 49.99. They have this at my local EbGames.

I bet MS will make you buy the 100GB HD before it will enable that new DVR media blade.

Id have no problem with that at all...It would be justifiable and I could get rid of my HD-DVD DVR I currently pay 10 bucks a month for...

100GB for an HD-DVR is not very much.

Do you use an external drive? Or just an internal one powered by the pc with sata plugged into the 360 usb?

No its not but I usually dont leave anything on my DVR very long it all gets transferred to my pc anyhow...

You plug the 360 sata connection on the HDD onto one end of the cable and then on the other end is a USB and you plug that into the pc and voila the PC the recognizes it....Simple.....But their are programs that manage the 360s HDD on the pc so you dont screw up anything...

My HTPC=Lacks HDTV card...I am holding out on purchasing one since I can only pick up 2 channels OTA and one of them is the bible network....However, my cable station offers like 15 HD networks now. :D

lets see, they are charging 129.99 Canadian for a 20gig drive that has 14 gig free.

So, they come out with another 100gig drive for what...$800? :)

100 gig is a another useless drive if you want to use as a pvr. The 360 should have come with at least a 60-80 to begin with, the core system with 20, and an upgrade to 200+ for pvr and even 200 isn't that big anymore.

It's not a big surprise as to what they are doing. Buying drives that are about to be phased out from some company for next to nothing, wrapping it in their little xbox case and charging double for it.

I like the 360, but I REALLY don't like or respect how they are robbing the customers money with every idea they come out with.

I use the MyHD-130. It works great, check out the thread on it under the HTPC section here on AVS.

I probably still need my cable box hooked up to it though right? My HTPC can output 720p/1080i (1080p if nothing else is being used) I have been holding out to wait for Vista before I upgrade....I will have to look into it though and see how it works out. thanks.

Crazy, I hadn't heard about that blade.

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/17/directv-blade-coming-to-360-dashboard

Too bad I don't have Direct TV. I need to figure out how to use my media center PC as a DVR. Right now I have a Dell E310---I believe it has a PCI slot---can anyone recommend a good TV Tuner card---send me a PM so an not to hijack this thread.

I would never get DirecTV they are such a rip and offer very little....

I like the Radeon 9600xt very good card for video and gaming...Their are better cards out their but I got it for like 40 bucks and it does everything I throw at it and handles 720p/1080i flawlessly...Even 1080p with 1gig of ram...Its a solid and cheap card...But I would wait until Vista comes out before I would upgrade anything....

DVR media blade?.......

A DirecTV blade was/is supposed to happen it was announced before the 360 even released which would only indicate DVR/Downloadable media capabilities....

Also they promised we would see some really "secret" and cool features be unlocked on the 360 on its 1 year anniversary...But I doubt that will seriously happen.

I use the MyHD-130. It works great, check out the thread on it under the HTPC section here on AVS.Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the case that MyHD-130's QAM decoding won't allow you to capture HD programs from digital cable or satellite sources (like DiscoveryHD, Universal HD, HDNet, etc.)? I thought it would only work on OTA high-def broadcasts.

Better for trailers and demos etc. but still a 250GB+ is needed, esp. if PVR is considered.

Only issue with SATA adapter is you still end up needed to copy stuff on and off but that combined with 100GB would allow you to keep a good amount of content at your finger tips.

No actually it'll pick up Cable fine as long as it's unencrypted (ABC, NBC, PBS, etc). No card will do encrypted signals just yet. That's what Cable Card and Vista are supposedly going to allow.

Series 3 Tivo is about as close to nirvana free of the cable/satellite/iptv DVRs that you can get right now, but ya. ATI has a prototype card for the HTPC market with a cablecard slot waiting for Vista presumably. I would be shocked if Nvidia didnt have a similar card available. I doubt the DRM will allow you to freely copy DVRed things though. I'm ok with this as long as I can back it up and expand my HDD space though- which are my primary gripes (along with the craptastic UI) of my Moto 6412 box with comcast atm.

I wonder how owners of the 20GB HDD will be able to transfer their saves if they choose to upgrade to 100GB HDD?

Ha! If I'd seen that pic I would have been pretty doubtful. How could they have more space in the same size device? I thought it was gonna be the whole depth of the 360, giving it a more appealing look.

A Microsoft spokesperson told TeamXbox that "the reference to a 100 GB hard drive in a recent presentation in Korea has been misleading and in fact we have no plans to bring a 100GB hard drive to the market. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

Did this happen all of a sudden? Or did MS decide to use last generations technology when making the 20GB HDD?
