know what you mean, I'm reading these threads, comteplating what HD DVD movies to pick up while they're cheap or on sale because they're new releases, and I don't have a HD player yet either.

Slither was fun!

Think The Blob/Invasion of the Body Snatchers/Day of the Triffids, add lots of gore, more scares and some laughs.

I'm a huge fan of Fred Dekkers Night of the Creeps, and this movie in no way ripped it off. Slither feels fresh, the acting is great, likable characters, and the delivery top notch.

The HDDVD PQ is crisp & clear. Lots of depth throughout. Even the dark scenes in the woods look fantastic. Michael Rooker and the slugs pop off the screen (is this really a good thing - yuck)! The blood and guts really catch your eye in this movie. The audio was decent. The surrounds got a workout with some good jump scenes. I loved it.

I hope this flick gets more support on dvd than it did in the theater. What a disgrace!

I just cant find the $1 item. Once you add the 2 items to your cart the free shipping over $25 takes care of the $5 shipping charge. Can you point me to a $1 item? Seems like Buy.com has marked almost all their movies to 29.88 just to piss me off. (The ones that were 30+ anyway..Still lots of 19.94 ones)

Wow...3 times!! I've seen it twice now...once at the theater and now once at home on HD-DVD. The most I have ever watched a movie in a 24 hour period is The Shawshank Redemption. Watched it twice in a 24 hour period.

Finally got to see it last night. GREAT creature flick! I loved it! The PQ is very good (seen better). Sharp sense of humor, no "MTV" style editing, no obnoxious horny teenagers, fantastic creature effects and makeup (though some of the CGI looks a little lame). Just great fun! and now added to my top 20 list of fav's :D

LMAO at that line too. I thought the film was fun but the PQ could have been better. Slither had B movie written all over it.

This movie clearly falls into the campy horror category like Dead Alive, Society, etc. It was fun and an homage, full of references to horror films/characters of the past. It was not meant as a scary, creepy mood horror film like The Thing or Alien.

The extras are fantastic too, although I wish they were in HD. Nathan Fillion is a trip. Very funny stuff.

I just watched this last night, and I really just want to second the majority opinion. This is a great movie and a great disc. The pq is fine, nothing spectacular, but nothing bad. Good for the relatively small budget movie it is. And especially impressive considering it's on a 15/9 disc. The only thing that could have made this better on a 30/9 would be having all the extras on the hd side (only a commentary on the hd side, the rest of the extras are on the sd side).

As for the movie itself: incredibly fun! Firmly in the horror comedy genre with Shaun of the Dead, Dead Alive, and Evil Dead. And I have to agree with Chud's review in that the comedy comes from the wonderful characters. I wholeheartedly recommend this movie. It is worth at least a rental to anyone with a strong stomach.

I forgot to mention, make sure you watch (or fast-forward) through the end credits for a terrific little denouement.

Also, one of my favorite lines goes something like, "She packs a box lunch."

I LOVED this movie. It's probably the best creature feature I've ever seen. And Nathan Fillion was perfect as the lead. The PQ, while solid, was soft through out. It was about what I expected, but definitely nothing special. A LOT of fun though.

I am a big fan of horror movies and reluctantly chose this title when the other titles I wanted from VE were suddenly no longer available.

I didn't watch it for two weeks thinking it wouldn't be that good. Well if you are into the genre this movie is a lot of fun to watch. PQ is pretty darn good and it is nice to have a 16:9 screen filled up like this movie did.

Some of the dialog was very funny and I think the comparisons to Tremors are accurate. Many of these end of the world types of flicks go way overboard with the acting whereas the characters in this movie have a sense of humor about what is happening to them. There is a lot of gore, but not gore for its own sake. You don't see someone devouring another person just so they can show blood and guts. It all seems to have a purpose. If you disagree then you haven't seen some of the really bad horror movies I have seen.

I think it was the sherrif who described a female character as a hard core bitch and when he says it, it is appropriate and funny. There is also some good dialog spoken by a very swolen lady. A real surprise was the song that played as the credits rolled. I was not expecting to hear THAT four letter word in a song.

All in all I think this movie is good fun for those who have a sense of humor.

Much better than I expected. PQ is quite good and the movie is really good for the genre that it's in.
