I saw on CD Japan that The Producers is to be released on 11/3. Does anyone else know anymore info. VC1 or Mpeg2? Number of Layers, etc.?

Hopefully other Mel Brooks movies like Spaceballs and Men and Tights come out.

I'm bumping this thread to ask if anyone has any information about this disc. This is actually the 2005 musical version that I really enjoyed, and if the disc is good I may consider importing it. I have both formats, but Universal (who has the rights in America) doesn't seem keen on announcing anything, let alone this title.

Wow, that sounds pretty good; it looks like they included all of the extras on the DVD. I am tempted to order this.

I would LOVE to get the original 1968 version in HD!

How does it look? Are there any issues with artifacts? Also, it doesn't have forced Japanese subtitles, does it?

No forced subs and it also has English PCM on it.

Okay, I have the disc now and I am very pleased with it. I suppose it's not quite demo material, but what I'm looking for in HD is a worthwhile upgrade over the DVD, and that's what this is. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to fans of the film, although it was pricey (about $45 shipped with the second-slowest shipping option from CDJapan).

The menu is, well, interesting. I wonder if it's typical of how films are marketed in Japan vs. the US.
