I have a Scientific Atlanta HD cable box feeding my Infocus 4805 projector in my family room through component outs. I also have a regular TV that I watch (behind a pull-down screen) when I'm just watching news, CSPAN, etc. to save projector bulb hours. While this box does have an f-pin, coax, 75 Ohm,RF (whatever the proper name is<G>) out (in addition to the component outs) it appears that only 1 output is enabled at a time. In other words, I can set it up to output to the component outs or the RF outs but not both at the same time. I want to be able to watch the projector or the old TV without having to change settings/switch wires. Is there a way to adapt the cable box to output the component & the RF outputs at the same time? (Nobody at my cable company seems to have any expertise except when the subject is how to pay my bill!<G>)
Thanks

You cannot switch between HDTV and Standard tv without going into the settings and lowering the resolution. you should not have to rewire anything though. Just send the coax to the standard tv. Keep the component on the projector, and in setting mode switch the resolution from 1080i to 480i. That should allow the picture to be seen on the standard tv. This is kind of a pain in the butt though. Other recommended option is to get another cable box, or just send basic cable to the standard tv. Hope this helps.

I had a somwhat similar situation with my cable box. Will it output on either s-video or composite jacks at the same time as component? If so, the lowly RF converter will be the way to go.

you could program a macro into your remote so all you have to hit is "watch cable on projector" or watch cable on tv." Pretty simple with discrete codes.
