I was wondering if anyone here uses this software? It seems pretty good but I haven't received my new analog card yet to try it out.

it's awesome. i've pretty much used every version, and it's gotten even better. Doug's added some cool features if you want to pay, but kept the core functions still free.

Not sure about installing this Ultidev Cassini service, have you had any problems?

Has anyone else used this program?

I've been trying to use it.
It would be perfect, except I can't seem to get streaming to work.

I wouldn't worry about Ultidev Cassini...its just a web server, similar to IIS.

I discovered it when looking for an alternative to Windows Remote Record. Remote Record has the main feature I need (to set up recording remotely). The only problem with it is that I can't get guide data for my OTA channels (from my DVICO RT5 lite). My cable channels (from my WinTV-PVR-150) show up fine. The guides are combined at home but for some reason not remotely. If I can't setup HD recordings remotely what's the point. Anyway, I digress....

WebGuide4 correctly combines both guides and has added features (streaming audio and video). Awesome product!

I can get SD content to stream but now that you mention it I don't think I ever got HD content to stream. It says it's buffering but nothing ever comes up. I haven't tried much of that though cause as I mentioned in my previous post I mainly use it to set up remote recording.

Check out the forums on that website, a lot of common fixes are there, and Doug regularly checks & responds there as well.

Been using Webguide4 on my Vista box for a while now, great great great :-)

I finally got it up and working today. Works pretty well. I'm watching The Daily Show right now. I can't go above 350kbps for streaming and even on that it chokes every now and then. I might setup a box at work and use this software to do internal streaming, as it seems like my home connection just can't cut it.

Having issues with HBO though. It works for a min or two then cuts out. I get this error on occasion with different channels:

That's the error I get whenever I attempt to stream anything, even on the local machine.
I've tripple checked my settings on both the server and any clients, but can't make it happen.

HBO is copy protected, you can't stream it.

WebGuide4 is GREAT. I tried a couple other services (MSN, Orb) but both paled in comparison to WebGuide4. I liked it so much that I ponied up the $15 for a license even BEFORE my free demo expired!!

Count me in with the "awesome" vote also. Used version 3 free for months, upgraded to version 4 and was so impressed with the improvements I gladly paid the $15 for the license.

Had trouble streaming until I installed PowerDVD. The Cyberlink codecs seem to work the best, as is noted on the WebGuide forum. If I could just figure out how to break through my router/firewall to access it outside my LAN, I'd be happier, but, right now, it's great to be able to program recordings with any PC on my home network.

Do any of you stream Live TV? If so, what bandwidth setting do you use?

i use the default one... runs about 480k which is about right because my cable modem upload is 512k

I have it set at 350k and every once in awhile it'll be a slide show. My UL speed is 384k.

Has anyone tried streaming between PC's on a network? I have my MCE machine in another room and would love to stratm to my laptop (with 802.11g wireless). Does this work? Do I need to go to 802.11n? What's the best solution there for streaming HD content?

Thanks.

I didn't try streaming HD but I was able to stream Live TV using the 2000k option. It got a little choppy at times but otherwise worked well.

This is what I have done. The media PC is wired to my router, but the laptop is 802.11g wireless connected. I think the setting I use is the generic LAN one (at work now, can't check) and it works fine, even for HD channels. I haven't played around with it too much, so I don't know if there is another setting that would be optimal. I'm still struggling to get this to work outside my LAN; so far, no go.

Can anyone answer or test something for me?

I was just curious if I have a dual tuner card if someone can use the card while sitting at the machine at the same time someone is using webguide?
