I recently bought a fairly cheap Proxima DP9260+, and I've got it working well, except for one big problem.

The polarizers have been burnt, I've taken the projector apart piece by piece, and went through and cleaned off the color filters, pre-condensers, mirrors etc...I found the problem when I took off the colored polarizers that surround the Prism inside the projector.

There are two of the polarizers that have gotten burnt pretty bad, the blue seems to have taken it hard. Which is why there is a big yellow splotch on the projected image.

I've Googled for countless hours attempting to find polarizer that would suit my purpose, so far I haven't found anything. Would my best bet be sourcing a parts DP9260+/XP21N and taking there polarizers from around the prism? That would be my last resort, If anyone knows where else I might find colored polarizer (1 red, 2 greyish black) that would be extremely useful.

I contacted Proxima asking if they had any spare polarizer but most likely they will lead me to some dealer outlet to get it repaired, probably costing me more then 500$ just for a few square inches of polarizer...

If anyone has any ideas they'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks much! :D

I've found the problem, it appears to be a burn or other damage on the Blue LCD, NOT the polarizer.

Looks like I'll probably need to find this part in another Proxima Dp9260+ or the other "almost identical" 3 models. Unless someone has a broken Dp9260+ or Xp21n that they wouldn't mind selling the blue LCD... :)

I've got an XP21N that has been sitting in my closet for a while. I thought the blue polarizers were burnt and called sanyo. They gave me a number for their parts supplier and I think the polarizers were only $100 or so. I didn't order them b/c I needed a new bulb anyway and didn't feel like taking the pj apart. (thus bought a Z4 which blew the 21N away pq wise). My point is that it wouldn't be a bad idea to call them and see what a blue lcd costs.

You might not want to mess with it anyway as I imagine reconverging may be difficult.

I called ASK Proxima and was quoted around $1,300 for the blue LCD + shipping etc to have it installed. Too high for me.

Did you receive my PM?

I wave worked with over a dozen of these projectors and had the same problems that you experienced with the LCD panels and output polarizer filters.

For every 1 good projector purchased on ebay for about $150, I could repair about 3 units. You can use the red or green LCD panels in place of the blue with no problems whatsoever. I also ordered the blue output polarizers at about $150 each, from my local dealer.

When finished, you have to line up all 3 of the LCD panels perfectly. All 3 have to be in focus and overlap each other just right. It can take 5 minutes or 2 hours! I used a small computer file/program that displays different patterns.
