Cineloic,
As I mentioned in the other thread, I had the same problem with a new Western Digital hard drive. I could format the drive and read the files fine from the PC, but the M4000P didn't show the files. Oddly, pressing the "info" button did show the proper NTFS formatting and drive size, but it showed the drive as empty.
I tried every possible jumper combination, as well as formatting to smaller drive sizes, but never got the WD drive to work properly. So, I returned the WD drive and bought a Seagate drive instead. The Seagate drive worked perfectly the first time, after formatting NTFS and copying the files to the drive.
I have no idea why the WD drive would be any less compatible than a Seagate drive, but based on my experience, comments from other posters, and a reply from Dvico, WD drives are apparently not compatible with the M4000P.
