I have read and researched (thanks to the forums) and decided on the 40" Sony XBR2 for our main TV room for the house. Now we are basically getting rid of all of the CRTs. I need to find a 2 good 26" sets for the bedroom and office. 720p is fine. I have looked at the Sony and Samsung offerings so far and I am not sure what else is good out there. Any advice? Price isn't to much of a factor, but it doesn't need to be amazing for just a bedroom/office use. Thanks guys!

I highly, highly recommend the Toshiba 26HL66, I use it in my bedroom.

It's a great set with surprisingly good SD picture quality.

Has only OK number of inputs.

Check it out and the price is right.

I have a 26 in the bedroom and it is way too SMALL. Viewing distance from the pillow to the screen is over 12 feet. This is your chance to go bigger. I don't think you will regret a bigger screen. 26 in the den may work out fine, as I bet your viewing distance will be less. Just my $.02

That Samsung is nice. I'll check that Toshiba out as well.

As far as viewing distance goes, the way the room is set up, the viewing distance is about 4 feet. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Concerning the Toshiba 26HL66, for what it's worth, Consumers Report gave this Toshiba its highest rating for 26" sets.

I decided I am going to go with a Sony. My question now is what the difference is between the 3 models below.

KDL-V26XBR1
KDL-26S2010
KDL-26S2000

From the Sony comparison page, I really couldn't spot any significant difference between the 3.

Thanks guys!

Gary... we are considering the Tosh for our bedroom, but have not come across one in B&M yet.

Can you tell me, does the stand swivel down at all? We will have it on top of a 5 foot chest.

I can't budge mine in any direction!!!

Although, the set's Operating Guide claims that the set will swivel 15 degrees forward and 15 degrees backward - I tried - but didn't want to force the panel.

Nothing mentioned about it being able to "bend" downward.

No swivel? How is the dropoff of image when viewing from below as opposed to left and right offset?

On my set, the vertical drop-off is about the same as the horizonal's.

You do lose a great deal of contrast and color.

It all depends on how acute your angle for viewing.

The best thing for you to do is to go to a store, such as Best Buy that carries the set
(Best Buy has the 26 with a built-in DVD - it's the same panel) and judge for yourself.

Hope it works for you. For the money, it's one heck of a set!

Why don't you look in the Sylvania 6626LCT, the price is probably half of the Sony one...I have one and it has been great so far...
