They are adding more songs and content I believe, but it still won't be anything that different. Just better graphics, more songs and those achievements we all like to get........... CallMeJean 11-10-06, 07:22 AM It will have things like achievement points and will work with XBOX Live so you can download more songs in the future for a fee. No wireless guitar though :( FrankJ.Cone 11-10-06, 07:24 AM It will have things like achievement points and will work with XBOX Live so you can download more songs in the future for a fee. No wireless guitar though :( Just think of the 360 as your DD 5.1 AMP. Wireless Guitar VS superior sound for a game about music.. hmm CallMeJean 11-10-06, 07:27 AM Just think of the 360 as your DD 5.1 AMP. Wireless Guitar VS superior sound for a game about music.. hmm The game is about fun and interacting with the music. Why not have both? There's no reason not to have a wireless guitar when the 360 has the capabilities built into the box. FrankJ.Cone 11-10-06, 07:34 AM The game is about fun and interacting with the music. Why not have both? There's no reason not to have a wireless guitar when the 360 has the capabilities built into the box. If there was not a reason then there would be one DUH! You may know it or understand it, heck it may not make sense, but its there somewhere. Like why the Wii does not have 720P. Bacause thats what the console maker wants. Sometimes you need to be able to make peace with the games and just enjoy them jean. Do not dwell on what you cannot change. homerx 11-10-06, 09:18 AM I heard no wirelss becase xbox owns the rights to how the wireeless tranzmits. And they don't plan one giving it out to 3rd partys. So unless microsft makes one we will never see it. scottro 11-10-06, 09:31 AM Cost could be an issue as well. GH2 wired guitar bundle for PS2 retails for $80 with a gigantic installed base of PS2 users. The standalone wireless PS2 controls are listing for about $50-$60. Premium 360 game: $60 + wireless fiddle in the box and you're well over $100....plus downloadable content. That's a pretty big investment. I want GH2 desperately but this would be one of my last PS2 purchases, it seems like a waste when I can just wait a few months for the 360 version. So unless microsft makes one we will never see it. Ok. I never heard that but it makes sense if their wireless setup is proprietary. Still, you would think they would jump at the chance for Red Octane to make a wireless guitar. Are there any 3rd party wireless controllers on the 360? Thanks for the heads up. Good to see some people know what they're talking about rather than just posting cynical remarks. :) rdank 11-10-06, 09:53 AM Ok. Are there any 3rd party wireless controllers on the 360? Thanks for the heads up. Good to see some people know what they're talking about rather than just posting cynical remarks. :) No, MS has not given any 3rd parties the right to use the wireless signal yet. I guess the hope is they might next year with PS3 the way it is and some of the special games like Guitar Hero needing it. I'm surprised they haven't at least given it to one or two manufacturers so far. Oh well. I'm happy with the regular controller, but I'd love a wireless Guitar Hero. chad473 11-10-06, 11:28 AM I'm almost certain that at some point they will offer a wireless guitar, but I wouldnt hold your breath for when the game launches. I just picked up gh1 since I didn't want to rebuy 2 again in a few months. I absolutely love it so far...insanely fun game, and one that non gamers can really get into as well. Big hit at parties. marketplace integration has huge potential for different themed packs. ferrisg 11-10-06, 11:32 AM They don't even need to use the direct protocol. There's nothing stopping them from making a simple wireless bridge (like how we all got wireless controls on the PS2 or Xbox or any other console that didn't support them directly) that plugs into one of the USB ports as the wired controller does. Unless, of course, there are bizarre stipulations in the licensing that don't allow developers to do this, either. FrankJ.Cone 11-10-06, 11:41 AM Each 360 accessory is keyed. Without the "key" devices cannot connect to the 360. So if MS will not allow the controllers themselves to communicate its unlikely they would allow a USB device to allow wireless. Birdman71 11-10-06, 11:54 AM What is the difference between a wireless controller and a wireless remote? There is a Logitech/Harmony remote for the 360 and it even has the equivalent A,B,X, and Y buttons. What am I missing? FrankJ.Cone 11-10-06, 11:57 AM The 360 has an Rf receiver, thats what remotes use. The controllers use Wifi wireless technology. Islanti 11-10-06, 12:27 PM The 360 has an Rf receiver, thats what remotes use. The controllers use Wifi wireless technology. You got a bit confused there Frank. The remote uses IR (infrared) which sends invisible light to the little black square on the bottom left of the 360. This is just like 99% of consumer electronics with remotes. This requires line-of-sight and isn't really appropriate for a game controller as a result. You'd probably be blocking the signal as you ROCKED OUT in GH2. :D The wireless controllers (and headsets) use a proprietary RF (radio frequency) signal operating on 2.4GHz. This is the same band as 802.11b/g wireless Ethernet AKA Wi-fi. However, the only thing on the 360 that uses wi-fi is the wirelss network adapter. FrankJ.Cone 11-10-06, 01:02 PM I was always under the impression that WiFi is the branding by the WiFi Alliance for the technology using the IEEE 802.11 specifications. If i am correct that means the controllers are as wifi as anything else using 802.11, if not I used the worng term, sorry. ferrisg 11-10-06, 01:49 PM Each 360 accessory is keyed. Without the "key" devices cannot connect to the 360. So if MS will not allow the controllers themselves to communicate its unlikely they would allow a USB device to allow wireless. That's a good point. I'm kind of surprised at the apparent desire of MS to not allow third party wireless devices. . . homerx 11-10-06, 02:35 PM Yeah, I wonder why they can't make a wireless usb type stick prehapps wifi. I wonder if you could some how mod one using an wireless pc controller. You know take apart the gutair and tie it in some how. Although I suposse you would not be able to send all the signals over. brmiller88 01-09-07, 09:07 AM IGN has two articles about Guitar Hero II for X360. One article says there are 10 new songs that are exclusive to the Xbox version which include tracks by Iron Maiden, Rancid, and Pearl Jam. I'll post the links in a subsequent post, assuming the boards will allow me to do so. They mention a March release date, which is nice to have considering the release dates have varied greatly across a number of different Web sites. brmiller88 01-09-07, 09:08 AM Here are the aforementioned links: IGN Guitar Hero II Bonus Tracks (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/753/753668p1.html) IGN Guitar Hero II Hands-On at CES (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/753/753774p1.html) DaverJ 01-09-07, 09:50 AM ... which include tracks by Iron Maiden, Rancid, and Pearl Jam. ...Iron Maiden's The Trooper??? That's going to be freakin' impossible! Well, they just sold me on buying it again for the 360. Can't wait to unlock achievements on this sucker! ...and to find out how the song downloads will work - that should be sweet. scottro 01-09-07, 09:58 AM I know it Daver J. Maybe I'll use the 360 version for single player and keep the PS2 versions for multiplayer sessions... In a perfect world we could just keep buying song packs for GH2 and never have to buy a GH3 disc. shagino 01-09-07, 09:59 AM Until this is wireless, I'll rock it on my PS2. I'm fine with with the previous gen being wired but next-gen??? scottro 01-09-07, 10:10 AM I missed that it was wired. Wires aren't gonna fly in my living room in 2007. I have to agree that this is a serious knock if the final product has a wire. Spiff69 01-09-07, 10:12 AM If I have to hook up a USB cable, what's going to happen when I drop to my knees and powerslide across the living room floor? brmiller88 01-09-07, 10:20 AM Until this is wireless, I'll rock it on my PS2. I'm fine with with the previous gen being wired but next-gen??? I agree there should be a wireless controller option. However, I personally kind of like the cord coming out of the controller, as it feels like I'm plugged into an amp. :D scottro 01-09-07, 10:31 AM If I have to hook up a USB cable, what's going to happen when I drop to my knees and powerslide across the living room floor? Exactly. There's a serious danger of the cord getting caught in the flamethrowers. :p HeadRusch 01-09-07, 10:44 AM Just remember.....better make sure your room is zoned for Pyro, or else you'll wind up like the whole Great White/Rhode Island Club Fire thing :P PS: If you think THE TROOPER will be hard to play the guiter solos, just imagine trying to play the Bass line in 2 player (where one can play the bass lines).......AYYYEE my hand is cramping just thinking about it. ileff 01-09-07, 05:15 PM OT: fyi, i think DDR ships in a couple of weeks http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/ddrevolutionuniverse/index.html wired1 01-10-07, 09:25 PM The fact that HUSH and POSSUM KINGDOM are in there makes me happy. They may not be awesome gameplay songs, but I will totally love playing them!! I love those tunes! Kind of sad that the Pearl Jam song isn't a classic, though... :( MisterNJ 01-11-07, 08:15 AM Anyone know how long the cord will be? My couch is a good 11 feet away from my xbox 360. scottro 01-11-07, 08:29 AM You sit on the couch? Dude you can't rock sitting down.... holyroman 01-11-07, 08:48 AM bump.. on the cord length, anyone know about this? And, I tried this game once in the store and it was a blast, but i'm wondering with the repeated playability, has anyone gotten bored with this? MisterNJ 01-11-07, 08:54 AM I know standing is good and all. But I'd rather sit and chill and play. Besdies, my TV is at perfect eye height for sitting, not for standing and is a 50" so I need to be a decent distance away from it. scottro 01-11-07, 09:10 AM bump.. on the cord length, anyone know about this? And, I tried this game once in the store and it was a blast, but i'm wondering with the repeated playability, has anyone gotten bored with this? Don't know on the cord length - I imagine similar to the PS2. Couldn't you just use a USB extension cable? As far as it getting old, it won't until you either: Get frustrated or complete all the difficulty settings. DaverJ 01-11-07, 11:03 AM bump.. on the cord length, anyone know about this? And, I tried this game once in the store and it was a blast, but i'm wondering with the repeated playability, has anyone gotten bored with this? I've found that this is the type of game that is perfect for repeated playing. ...IF you like the music, that is. I often find myself pulling out the "GibsonSG" and playing through a couple songs just for fun. It always ends with Boston's "More Than A Feeling". :D bgrbb 01-11-07, 11:04 AM Don't know on the cord length - I imagine similar to the PS2. Couldn't you just use a USB extension cable? As far as it getting old, it won't until you either: Get frustrated or complete all the difficulty settings. Been playing this on PS2. Song list isn't as good IMHO as the original, but it has better game modes. Since I already own the wired PS2 controllers I'm not going to get the 360 version unless it has a wireless controller. HeadRusch 01-11-07, 12:21 PM I've found that this is the type of game that is perfect for repeated playing. ...IF you like the music, that is. Phish songs can be tough because Trey is so damn quick with his axe!! jeffLebowski 01-11-07, 12:43 PM the 360 version has life wasted by pearl jam. therefore, i must own it... now. man, i can't wait for this game to come out. shagino 01-11-07, 01:03 PM Now the real question: Do you freeze like a deer in headlights when your SO walks into the room and catches you rocking out, or do you jam-on? :) Dude, she rocks it more than I do. I vote a tie ;) joerod 01-11-07, 09:16 PM We are very excited about this coming to the 360. Even more happy that it is a 2 player game. Playing htis one in the theater should be really fun! :D Teamhood 01-12-07, 05:16 PM If you hit up Major Nelson's page he has a video on GH2 and looks like they are 'wired' axes :( Teamhood 01-12-07, 05:16 PM http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/events/ces2007/default.htm?WText.camp=TS1&WText.campSrc=Home |
