Jonathan Hickey 11-20-06, 01:07 PM No. It is not possible. crash2manyx 02-05-07, 04:10 PM I hate seeing people give bad info, it is very difficult to set mp3's as ringtones but it is NOT IMPOSSIBLE, here's what u need to do: Files needed: Sprint's usb driver for modem use bitpim (i don't have links so you'll have to search) install the driver install bitpim 1. go into the melody composer in your phone, make a melody(u will overwrite it later) 2. plug your phone in and run bitpim(this program does not fully support the fusic yet, but it works for this) 3. using bitpim after u have created the generic melody, select view/view filesystem make sure it's checked. 4. select the filesystem folder in the left-hand window pane 5. in the second pane, find the melody composer folder and open it 6. in the third pane u should see 2 files for every melody u have created, right-select the .mid file for the melody u wand to overwrite with your mp3, select overwrite, and find the mp3 file u wanted as a ringtone, this will take a few minutes to convert but it does work. 7. after that, the melody u just created and overwrote will me in your my melodies folder of your phone and u can apply it as any ringtone.... enjoy... _RT_ 02-22-07, 09:39 AM Open any mp3 in music editing software you have. Shorten the song length to something under 30-seconds. Save it as an MPEG-4 Audio file. Upload via funformobile.com - look on the left side for the uploader. another option - if you don't have sound editing software: Download a free program called Wavepad, available from here: http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/masters.html Wavepad Instructions After you download and install the program, you can just open Wavepad, and goto File->Open File..., which will allow you to load up the MP3 file you want to use to create the ringer. You have now a screen which shows the song in a visual mode, so you can edit it by highlighting which part of the song you want to use as a ringer. Play back the song, and click the part on the screen where you want the ringer to start. Once you do that, there will be a yellow line going down the screen. Now, hold down your mouse over that yellow line, and drag back towards the beginning of the bar graph. This will highlight a section of the song which you do not need. Once you highlight it, press DELETE, and it will start cropping the song. Now, play the rest of the song till you find a part where you want the ringer to end. Remember, the file can not be more then 30 seconds, or it will roll over to voicemail. Once you find that spot, click on the bar graph, and it will put that yellow line, just like before. Now, click on the line, and drag it all the way to the right, highlighting all the parts of the song which you dont need, and press DELETE. This will leave you with a short part of the song which you want to make into a ringer. Now, all that is left to do is to clean up the song and remove bass, in order to make the files sound clearer. Once you are done cropping it, goto EDIT->Select All, and then goto EFFECTS->Normalize, and set that to 80%, press OK, then do EDIT->Select All, and then goto EFFECTS->High Pass Filter. Set the Frequency (hZ) to 160, and press OK. This will play back your file, and remove the bass which would normally distort and cause ringer speaker blowouts on the phone. Once you are done, goto File->Save File As, and in the drop down, select 'MPEG-4 Audio (*.m4a)', and give it a name with no spaces. Once you have the file saved, all you do is goto funformobile.com and upload it. Hope that helps! guybaro 02-26-07, 09:05 PM No. It is not possible. : ) |
