Hello -
I am looking for a reference or builders in the Sacramento area to build or design a home theater niche in my home.
I want to swap out the fireplace insert and set a Plasma or LCD TV in it's place. I would like to have the area behind my TV now replaced with some nice cabinets.
All recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
AP
Looks like you'll need a carpenter, a cabinet maker, an electrician and someone for the electronics. If you want a one stop shop, check out Paradyme and AudioFX. They will handle the design and then act as the General Contractor. They'll have a list of sub-contractors or you probably can use your own. The other option is to design it and subcontract the work yourself.
I am almost done with my small home theater setup. Please be nice about the comments!
Thank you,
Al
Looks good. What path did you end up taking? Did you hire a general contractor or did you do most of the work yourself? Make sure you have some ventilation for your tv. I installed a vent in the side of my cabinet for passive ventilation. If that's not enough, I'll add a fan for active ventilation.

I found some help, due to the very expensive qoutes that I received. I have a couple of holes on the top of the set, I was thinking about adding a fan, but how would I know if I should do it or not is the question.

That turned out very nice.
You could always snake an electronic thermometer in the space and see what the temp gets up to.

What do you think the temp should be for that space?

Your manual probably has an operating temperature spec. This company:
http://www.cool-components.com
has some cooling products. Their temperature controller uses 80 degrees F as an ON/OFF set point.

Looks very nice!
