sorry about the repeated product posts today, but this is another gem that came out of the woodwork. Note the spinner on the 2nd joystick for games like arkanoid or tempest. Sold on this just like the smack talk box!
update: oh wait, it's made by madcatz. Hmm not a huge fan of their stuff, but it looks good

Sorry, but that is NOT a good arcade joystick.
The closest thing to a good joystick was the DOA4 stick (and its really only average), and thats hard to find now short of paying ~$100 on ebay.

Its a waste for any dev to put out any fighting games on the 360, with NO currently available joystick and the COMPLETE **** d-pad on the stock controllers.

FSCK microsoft and their bullshit licensing policies that keep anyone from making a PS2 controller adapter.
I want to use my Hori Real Arcade Pro dammit!!

XFPS 360 will allow you to use a PS2 controller. It says it will be compatible with the DualShock2, but i'm assuming all the PS2 controllers send the same commands (except for maybe the driving wheels).

I think I'm just going to mod my Namco stick into a USB stick; doubt I'll ever use it on a PS1/2 again.

My opinion of MadCatz is probably a lot like everyone else's here... but given a recent "confidential" survey undertaken by a few very special Xbox Live users, I suspect a very similar Microsoft-branded arcade controller will be on its way soon.

stay away from mad catz. I got two sticks from them for the xbox1, they are "ok" for spares, but nowhere near as good of quality as MS sticks.

Cool, thanks for that link.
If this makes it out and actually works properly, ill be able to sell this DOA stick and use my GOOD sticks for SF2 and DOA4.

an official review. Clearly overpriced. Need something better and soon!

I swear, that's the worst stick I've ever seen. Mad Catz usually produce good game pads at very good prices, but I just don't know about this one... Reminds of my my old old Atari 2600 stick. For all you old timers here, do you remember?

Yeah, I have posted before about this stick. I am not impressed. Although, if it were wireless I would buy it even with the god-awful form factor.

For my money, the DOA4 Hori arcade stick is still the best option for retro arcade games and fighters.

I just want something wireless.

The only REAL problem with the Mad Catz stick is that when you turn it to use the spinner in your right hand and have your left hand on the buttons without reaching, the buttons are in the 'wrong' places. An ideal design would have the buttons mounted on a wheel, so you could turn it and lock them into place as needed.

None of the games I've used it with require the trigger or shoulder buttons, so I don't care if they are placed badly.

I called tech support about the PC driver not making the spinner useable in MAME for Arkanoid, and it seems they KNOW but may not do much about it...

I bought an old arkanoid cabinet about 2 years ago. Great little unit. It is a bar top style so it doesn't take up a ton of space. These are fun games. I'd love to have a jet black tempest bar top game with a crystal clear screen. That would be SICK! But sorry about the misleading thread name here. I was ecstatic way back that an arcade stick was even out. I didn't even know about performance at all. Oh well

There is an arcade stick called GoPodular (Google search, I haven't made enough posts to post web links yet) that is very good and compatible with a variety of systems, including Xbox 360. It uses authentic arcade parts (either Happ [American] or Sanwa/Seimitsu [Japanese], depending on which style you order). The only issue is that it's very, very expensive.

this looks real solid! Nice find, now we need a spinner and track ball that are of similar quality
by the way, are you sure this is compatible with the 360? I may have just missed it, but I didn't see anything saying it is supported
Another edit: Yeah sorry I see the 360 symbol there. It is indeed supported. :) In my opinion, the combat minion version of this joystick would be best with its dual joystick setup, but at a staggering 325 altogether with the card! YIKES this thing had best be legit at that price

Then you ought to buy them all and make a killing on ebay...
I called over 30 stores, of several different chains (and a few non-chain stores), and NONE of them had any, nor would they be getting any again.

With shipping, mine cost me over $100 on ebay.

That gopodular thing looks good... But for that price you could get someone to build you a custom stick to your exact specifications, AND have some money left over.
(there are some people at www.shoryuken.com who build REALLY nice custom arcade sticks).

Here is my favorite arcade stick manufacturer:

http://www.massystems.com/ProStick.html

I'm not sure if the xbox version will work for the 360 or if they have done a 360 version yet but these are very durable, great sticks.

You got screwed. My local Gamestop has them in stock for $39. Maybe I should buy 'em up and scope out some sucka's :)

NONE of the gamestop or EB games within ~60 miles of me had any. The going price on ebay was ~80 + shipping, at least as of last august.

(there are some people at www.shoryuken.com who build REALLY nice custom arcade sticks). The true benefit of the gopodular stick is its ability to be used on multiple systems. Granted, the adapters are an added cost, but they are designed so that there is absolutely no input lag, regardless of the system you play. The build quality is also nice (which is why it is so expensive), but if you only want an arcade stick for just one system, then the cheaper alternatives (especially some of the custom built ones from Shoryuken.com) are probably a better choice.

With shipping, mine cost me over $100 on ebay. I just came back from the store with my Hori joystick. (It was $40, not $30 as I initially recalled.) There were two on display, but I'm not into eBay speculating, so I only got the one. I just want it for VF5.

I'll try some Live Arcade games to see if it's better. Ms. Pacman is awful with the controller, so I'm hoping the joystick will be an improvement.
