Yeah the latest "The Show" is probably one of the best sports games I'v ever played and easily the best looking and most immersive. It's a pretty amazing job by Sony and the bar has definitely been raised.

It's a lot prettier in person. Looks stunning!

Sony 60A3000, Polk CS2/Monitor 70s, Polk satellites, SVS PC12-NSD, Yamaha V661, PS3/360/etc. It's a humble setup but it has served me really well for gaming and watching Blu-rays.

I know, I have 4 and I've been really considering hiding the components which I'm just about finished... only few more things (IR repeater and a standalone audio rack) to put behind the wall... and no more touchy, touchy.
My towers are ported and you wouldn't believe how many times I've had to pull out little toy cars out of them...

Just got the TV on Sunday, and here it is with the PS3
Pics taken while setting it up so don't mind the mess and the cables.
Once I get the HD box and my HDMI cables (monoprice is taking ages to ship) then I will reorganzie everything, hide the cables and secure the TV.
The PS3 will go down next to the TV. Standing the PS3 on its side is way sexier than what I have now.

Well with a lot of the stuff people have on AVS it's pretty humble, got them on clearance with an additional 10% off (clerks mistake, lol, honored coupon she shouldn't have, I'll miss CC), so I paid very little for them, and they sound pretty good :D

it's Sony HW-10 PJ 106" screen, Denon 2809ci, Samsung 1500 BD, PS3 original 60gb with the Eye and controller recharging stand, Toshiba HD-A30, Vudu box and Toshiba XDE500 (for some older DVDs) and Xbox 360 Elite 120gb.

It's raised about 2-3", it's just not that visible in the photos. It's enough for the people sitting in the back to have an unobstructed view.

Bozster I still say you have to hide your cables and make it look more cleaner, neater and presentable.

The shelves are off the hook, you set up is dope and the room looks amazing.

Great Job.

Really great setup Bowster. And what I especially like about it, is that you really seem to have taken full advantage of what seems like a small room. Maybe it isn't a small room, and that's the thing: You've made it look like a big room. I'm kinda going to be doing the same kind of set-up in my basement soon, and I hope to create the same sense of theater room/coziness you've created with your room. I agree with a couple comments that the cables are maybe a little messy, but that's really such a small thing to fix up. As for all the component lights...I'm a sucker for such things. Ever since I saw The Empire Strikes Back, that feeling like I'm flying in the Millennium Falcon, with all its instrument panel lights, just kinda hits the kid pleasure center in my brain. :p

Thanks guys.. too hard to answer everyone..so I'll just summarize responses.

1. I do like the look of the gear. I actually had a complete freedom to hide the equipment as that wall the screen is on is actually a shared wall with a walk in closet behind it. So it would've been super easy for me to put everything in the back and just take the IR eye out in front that would manipulate all devices, but as I said I like to wow factor and I'm personally not bothered by the lights especially since you can dim them to negligible levels. Also, the screen on this smaller room is 106" and it's just to an inch appropriate so when you watch anything it so lights up that you don't even pay attention to smaller lights below.

2. As for cable management, trust me when I tell you that I would love to hide but I've done that before and I pulled my hair every time I needed to add a device or replace a cable or something. It's a bit neater now cause I wrapped cables a bit more so it's less visible. I did nicer cable management in my living room as I know I won't be upgrading anything there for a long time as you can see here:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3601/3375310896_515d78a6ec_o.jpg

3. It's Denon 2809ci, I would've liked 3808 but when I was getting the AVR I had an unbelievable deal on 2809ci, too good to pass on.

4. I actually wanted a bit darker but still brownish couches. I tried dark red and it was too much like a pimp room :) I will probably get either dark dark red or black pillows with the theater symbols.

5. The room is fairly small, that's one of the reasons why I really didn't want to pain anything into dark color cause it would make the room even smaller. I do have controllable light environment even during the day there so it was a non-issue.

6. The small shelves used for movie boxes and 3d posters are plain black decorative wall shelves (they come in pairs or in 3 sizes as a package) that are pretty cheap $20-$30 and you can get them at Lowes. The glass shelves for the AV components are from Best Buy. Here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8783934&type=product&id=1205450851861

The room was a lot of planning and I really took the time to try to piece everything together and make it as cozy as possible as I wanted to get a theater feel but much more comfortable.

Took a few shots with the actual game shots earlier today:

Whoa... What an awesome setup for a smaller, non-dedicated room! This has me rethinking holding off on building mine until I can actually get the entire basement done.... hmmmm.

You can tell that you spent a long time planning it. Very neat, well laid out and precise placement. As far as hiding the gear goes, don't listen to anyone but your own likes and dislikes. Personlly, I have spent a lot of money on my gear, I think it looks really cool, and I am proud to display each and every piece. There is zero interference with overall quality of my display.

Now I am jealous and am thinking of knocking a certain wall out of that upstairs bedroom... :p

Boz the living room setup is really sweet also. I really like how you have the plants right next to the audio racks in the corners. IMO you pulled cozy and very nice off rather well. But it looks like in the LR you could benefit from either a Pronto or Harmony remote :p

PS: Nice Ray Bans :D

Not to mention that if you are capable of planning and executing a nice home theater like that you are probably capable of determining for yourself if you are bothered by the lights and can rectify the situation if deemed necessary.

The room needs some faux windows/blinds on the left side to be really symmetrical. ;)

as long as it's your own equipment I'm A OK :D

The shelves are:

Atlantic Elf series. They are modular so you can go up in height stacking one after another.

One rack is this:

http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-3533-5009-Elf-Multimedia-Rack/dp/B000264JZ4/ref=pd_cp_e_1_img?pf_rd_p=413863501&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000PI5FFW&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=13S0WZDV35HS8CK077ET

The other one is:

http://www.target.com/Multimedia-Storage-Tower/dp/B00009UHGO/sr=1-13/qid=1237999343/ref=sr_1_13/182-6716185-8133400?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&index=target&rh=k%3AAtlantic&page=1

But that Target one is way too expensive. Mine is a bit smaller in height and it cost much less. But i bought it a while back.

Its made by Laurier and i bought it a few years ago at Circuit City. I cant find it on Laurier's website but they make very smiliar looking models. If i rememeber correctly it was 400 when i bought it then.

Phipp,

Check out the Z-Line furniture. http://www.z-linedesigns.com

Their models are very similar to IIIII's tv stand (I think, I can't see his pics for some reason) and I purchased mine from CC a few years ago too. I'm really happy with the stand and believe it or not, it's one of the few home theater purchases I'm not looking to upgrade. :)

Thanks Sean for the link but I am looking more for an enclosed stand. Z lines only has 2 and the rest are open.

Wow they make some very nice "systems". I like the custom ability of those pieces.

I have never understood why people really go through the hassle of wall mounting, but then put a tv stand directly under the tv.
You gain no space, and if anything you have now mounted your tv too high. Hell with the size of the tv stand you can easily put a rear projection television there instead.

It's just "Stylish" :D not about space.
Design wise it looks good.
The TV stand is must for all the equipment, AV, PS3, DVD player, Center Speaker,...

One thing is, that I'd invest in floor standing speaker (an advice). And the positioning of the right and left speakers seems way too high. They should be more or less at the same height of the center one for a better audio surrounding the sitting area.

I have never understood why people on here feel the need to question other peoples design choices. Maybe its wall mounted so when hes cooking he can swivel the set towards the kitchen. Maybe people, like me, own a CC that there is no stand made to fit it inside of so due to its size it needs to sit on top of the stand.

BTW What make is the TV stand? Thats sorta what I'm looking for.

Guys, people who post pictures of their setups here open themselves up to comments, good or bad. Don't want comments on your setup, don't post pics. What we don't allow are personal remarks/insults.

Thanks for the clarification kyser.

I thought this thread was a spot where people could post the end result of all their hard work...and get/give ideas for other members on differing setups (all without negative/bad comments). I for one will not be posting my setup here in light of this clarification.

Thanks again.

Only wall mounted it for looks honestly. No other reason. But i do have to leave a foot of clearance underneath for my center channel thats coming in. But its not too high at all, looks great and just a tad bit above eye level but nothing uncomfortable for long viewing periods.

Thanks again.Just because someone has a different point of view that doesn't make it negative/bad. My point is this, we're all big boys here, let's behave like so.

The comments about the TV stand were not that out of line and did not deserve a personal insult in return.

The OP didn't take offense to it, neither should you.

Now move on.

This goes for everyone else as well. Keep it up an you will be removed from AVS. I'm tired of cleaning up this thread.

Didn't realize my comment was going to cause such a fuss. :D
Also, the comment wasn't directed at your exact setup, but rather all setups similar to yours.

I have my tv mounted on the wall as well actually, although I do not have a tv stand underneath. Instead I have an audio pier off to the left which holds all my components, and my tv is probably a little lower than your setup.
Not having anything underneath the tv makes for a cleaner look imo, but I see more people with setups like yourself. I also wall mounted mine with an articulating arm so I can rotate it to see it from another room.

Also I agree with MaxDam77 about your speakers being too high, but it looks like you're fixing that. The floor speakers should look nicer as well. Anyways, I didn't mean anything negative with my earlier post, and your setup looks great.

Nope....I really need to get a few good shots of my setups. I know I love to look at other peoples setups for ideas.
My PS3 isn't in my living room though, so I'm not sure it is on topic. :p
I keep the PS3 (and 360) in my projector room. I'll reserve this spot for when I get some pictures.

I just mounted my TV on the wall mainly because of looks but in reality it was becasue of my kids they keep touching my components. so I hid everything in a different room which prompted me to hang the tv onthe wall since it looked so lonely on the "tv stand" which is still there because of the center speaker. and it looks a heck of a lot cleaner. will post pics later.

IIII your set up is really nice. in the end its your room and your preferences. I hope you are getting good enjoyment out of it.

The reason why you're blowing subs easily is because

1. You can't recognize distortion
2. You have small speakers... so the sub has to compensate for the lower frequencies the speakers can't handle. That makes the sub more likely to be boomy and to distort a lot faster. That and the fact that those subs are usually cheaper. Either you don't crank 'em up that much or you consider buying some bigger speakers that will handle lower frequencies.

Don't use rope lights, they are way too warm! I use them behind my LCD PC monitor, bought a bunch and figured I'd test them there. The rest went back to the store ;)

Get yourself a daylight fluorescent bulb and fixture and mount it with Velcro behind your TV like I did. It was 25 bucks or so, and it looks great. Much close to being accurate than the rope lights.

If you wanna try rope lights, get blue ones, and use a dimmer. This would be closer to accurate.

:confused:I tend to disagree with this comment. Rope lights are cold to the touch and the newer LED ones are completely cold to the touch. I know 'cause I got one. On the other hand Tube Lighting is so hot it will blister your skin (3rd degree burn) after being turn on more that 5 minutes. If you dont believe touch one and let me know how it feels.
Rope lighting is very gentle to the eye.

Much close to being accurate than the rope lights.

Not sure what you mean by this comment.
The reason I got my light was for ambient lighting so that my eyes wont suffer much fatigue when watching TV. However, a blue one would look really cool... maybe I'll make the investment and get a colored one. ;)

[QUOTE=Fatboy Gixxer;16236092]I know these pics are hard to look at because of the POS camera, but does anybody have any suggestions for an entry level speakers/sub? I keep blowing these crappy HTIB ones. I'm very far from an audiophile and to be honest those crappy Yamahas sounded ok until the Onkyo made short work of them watching
action movies in True HD:D. As you can see, my room is relatively small, but I wanna be able to crank it without worrying about blowing a speaker or sub.

Any help appreciated,

Not real sure. If memory serves me correctly they have a keyhole opening on the back or could be easily placed on a stand. I am putting two in my office tomorrow to go with my IPod but they will be on a shelf. When I get them tomorrow and place them in the office I'll let you know. Maybe you can use a small telephone stand/table or something similar. I know some people are finding small shelving stands at Target and they gain a place for the speakers and some storage area as well.

Ok I set them up in my office this am. I am listening to some Pink Floyd right now. They sound pretty good. They are light in the bass department but most bookshelf speakers are. They measure 7 inches wide (left to right) by 10 1/2 inches deep and are 11 1/2 inches tall. There is a bracket on the back to hang them on the wall and even a template to put on the wall to show you where to drill for the screw to hang it. Since mine are sitting on the desk I didn't look for stands. I hope this helps.

I brought the original file via USB key to a copy store to get it "super-sized" to 5 1/2' X 3' (original image was alot smaller :p. The resolution for this picture was good enough to get a big picture... the original project didn't work but I'm still happy with plan B tho) They printed it on a fabric ( don't know if it's the right word... sorry i'm french ;))

Brought the printed fabric to a store where they sell painting and make custom framing and had the fabric mounted on a wood frame. I might get a larger frame later on but I think it will be too heavy and it would mean I would need to fork another 100$ at least...

it had a bit of white dust from the styrofoam baggie that it was wrapped in. i tried using plexus and a micro fiber cloth and thats what it did. i use that cleaner on almost everything and had never had a problem until now. i grabbed another damp micro fiber cloth and wiped it clean a few minutes ago. it looks good as new now. no worries. :D

for now on i'll just use the little cloth that it came with.

I've got another pair of the bookshelf speakers sitting in that box on the spare entertainment center (below). Once I move, it'll complete the 7.1 Polk setup. I've got smaller speakers in the back for now due to limited head space.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3516/3464063000_297bfb6d7e_b.jpg

Just got a new PC and monitor a couple months back. I've been stoked about it...it's got a dual monitor vid card with 7.1 audio over HDMI that I've run to main room receiver. I've also got optical from the mobo to the yamaha underneath.

it's the wireless wheel only for PS3 and PC. this thing rocks. it's the only wheel i've ever used but all the reviewers are saying "this is the wheel to get for console gaming". so much fun. can't wait for the full GT5 to come out, i'm starting to get bored with Prologue.

Thanks, I'll be picking one up.

how have you setup your video like that? Copying AVC files as a single file to your HDD or is that content from the PS Store?

mkv (x264) made to vob files then copied from media center..

Here's a bad pic of my set up. Well, most of it anyway. I just bought the house about 2 months ago, and kicked out the tennants (my old roommates, they moved in with me while waiting for their house to close) about 2 weeks ago. I'll update when I get better pics with the rest of the equipment in place.

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9818/img9432.jpg

Shown:

Sony KDL46XBR6
Sony PS3 (of course)
Sony DVP-NC80V
Wii
SA 8300HD DVR

Unpacked and added since this picture was taken:

Denon AVR-2809ci
Infinity Primus 150 front and rear
Infinity Primus C25
Subwoofer that I honestly know nothing about. Friend gave it to me, 10" driver, powered, no brand name or information on it. But it was free, so I won't argue with it.

Still in boxes and need to add:

Zektor HDS 4.1 Component video switch
Sony RDR-GX330 DVD recorder
Philips DVDR-75 DVD recorder (non functional drive, just use it as a component to s-video adapter)

And my other small project room.....

that's why I don't have a media center for movies... I just copy them to DVD's instead. too complicated to create x number of files then transfer them then convert them then............ never ends. I'd much rather have a simple solution... it's a shame the PS3 can,t read dvd files from the start. that and the fat32 system format which is obsolete!!

you make it way to complicated..

1-mkv (x264)
2-run mkv-vob (basically drag and drop it does all the work)
3-copy.....

thats it..?????

i push a button and BAM movie on the screen, no dvd's to load or eject..

Pull those speakers out from the wall a bit. I would be shocked if they sounded as good as they could that close. Are they rear ported? Bringing them out to the end of the stand may help dramatically!

System does the job nicely. Mits has come out with an 82, which the wife has veto'ed. Like that will make a difference.... :D

Nope, no little monsters (or 2 or 4 legs) running around here. Dog would soon be permanently outside (and not last too long in -25oF (wind chill) winters here in chilly Buffalo).

Don't live in an apartment though (which isn't too clear from the pics).
