The new Klipsch Ref IV are really kick-ass bang-for-the-buck speakers. Too bad most people will never know how good they really are.

Bad blacks levels?....riiiight, because you can really tell by some crappy camera shots. That cracks me up. The 5080 is nice, but dont make bad comments on peoples tv's, esp when they are just posting up pics for you to view. People like you ruin the fun for others, if you want more shots of his great tv, sweet ask for them, but keep our tv's out of your mouth.

Thanks for the extra pics Viper, can't wait till you post more. Also as a 24" 1080p monitor how well do you think it performs compared to a regular 32'' HDtv at 1080i. Also viewing angle is not an issue, seeing as how I sit 2-4 feet away from a T.V. when playing video games. I am interested in buying the sammy 245bw, yet I am deciding wheather I should invest in a 24" pc monitor for 1080p or just get a 32" HDTV. I will use either or mainly, for ps3/360 HD gaming and HD movies.

hey thanks man! This is my parents house, I'm only 20 years old and just started junior year of college (I commute to a small campus of UCONN) majoring in Business. When i start a real career, i'll move out and really go all out with what I can afford! This bedroom used to be my brothers room (i had a much smaller room) but he moved into the spare room, so when I moved in here I was about 12 or so, and I really liked a dark blue color so thats what we painted it. I wish I could go back and change it to a lighter color, but oh well you live and learn. I like the wood flooring too, but the pictures don't show just how bad of shape they are in unfortunately :(. Oh well, few more years and I'll be outta here anyways :) Thanks for the comments!

I got the kramer one at a poster/painting store in a mall. It was 90% off because the store was closing so i got it for about 2 bucks. The george costanza poster i got at school that was having a poster sale. Goodfellas poster was from media play when it was still open in my area, the rocky poster was from ebay. i also had a screenshot poster of harry and lloyd on the moped from dumb and dumber, but ran out of space so i threw that one in the basement. I'm a poster freak, if I had the room i'd have a ton more.

Very cool, I'm digging the theme. Hopefully in the near future I will be adding a wall mounted unit in my bedroom. The CRT is small but still takes up too much room.

Yup and thats only the DVD since it was on sale when it came out and the Blu Ray wasnt out yet. The dvd upscaled does look fantastic though. stil thinking about buying the Bluray version though just cause.

Reading more about it, it sounds like an issue with using HDMI for video and optical for audio. Check some of the other threads concerning it.

I currently have that set up HDMI and optical, I've even used the Composite cables for audio as well and never once had an issue.

Calv1n, not sure if you've realized this, or just don't care. But you can flip the Playstation symbol to a vertical position (vs the default horizontal one) to match the orientation of the console.

wow calvin, that looks amazing. i've read through your construction thread a few times and it just amazes me everytime. hopefully one day i'll make enough scratch to build something like that for myself, but who knows.

I'm currently working as a lead engineering technologist in yet another SAGD plant.
Lots of $$ out there for those willing to work for it though so go get some ( I didn't own a darn thing until 9 years ago when I decided to settle down and ended my 6 year non stop party streak - my liver thanks me now as well :p)

The empty spot in the entertainment center is where my 360 used to live. The colors on my tv aren't that washed out either, it never takes good pics, even with a tripod in the dark.


I plan on upgrading my reciever to an Onkyo 605 around christmas time, once I get some money saved up. I bought the sony I have now about 4 years ago for $200, I'm suprised it's held up as well as it has. It does DD and DTS, so it works well for now. I want to upgrade my tv, but thats going to be more of an investment so that will probably be a ways off.

Sure can, I have the PC hooked up to the HDTV via DVI-HDMI at 1080p. Its great and Ive considered just letting the HDTV be the only monitor but I like hearing the TV while Im online. Not to mention my PC needs upgrading because it runs alittle sluggish at that high resolution. Thanks for the compliment!

They also make this guy envious as well. They have some very good paying jobs. I just graduated from college, and I work as a Financial Analyst for one of the state agencies(Workforce Sevices).. it is a state job, but hopefully I can move into the "corporate world" soon and have an increase in pay :D

ya, I have all 12 lights on in the room and the flash. The flash is the thing that washed it out. Its fully watchable if I turn off the 4 can lights in front of the screen (but even with them on you can see the screen fine). You can see that 2 of them that are on are about 2 feet back from the screen and the other 2 are a few feet after that. Those cant be on.

The simpsoms theme i have has about 8 different background pics, each time you turn on your PS3 a new background pops up, you can also change them by reapplying then, each time you reaaply, a new background pic comes up.

I think that is called the Moire effect... its not a problem with the TV, but an effect caused by taking the picture and its interaction with the screen... (not sure)

OH... I see now what he's talking about... almost looks like a rainbow effect on the left side. That definitely is not my TV but some artifact that was introduced when I took the picture.

Remember that cameras can see things that we cannot ;) .

that is something common on LCD and Plasmas

Warning, these aren't as good as they could be because a) they aren't direct captures, b) my camera sucks balls c) im a ****** photographer haha

I just wish my camera was better and that I didn't suck at taking pictures, because in person the picture quality looks quite a bit better (much more detail and better coloring)

ex: that last picture has way to much detail lost, it still looks okay, but everything is washed over in a way, it just looks so much prettier live :)

It's the protective screen on the plasma. It's not the display itself. He must have just captured the right angle to make it visible.

Im usually very impressed with your pics of your TV but the monitor looks bad.

that's because lcd's still can't match crt (dlp/sxrd) and plasma picture quality with a major portion of that reason due to backlighting

Thanks mang... I really love my Panny. COD4 is the first game I've purchased for my PS3 and it looks amazing on it. However, I now play half the time on my AE900 Panny PJ with a 106" screen. I have to take some shots of it. I'm stoked because I tried playing PS2 games on the PJ, spefically SOCOM CA, and it looked horrible.

Yeah man COD4 looks amazing and runs at basically 60FPS the whole time. Not to mention it's infinitely better in person, because there seems to always be nine hundred things happening at once which can't really be shown or shown well in a picture.

I agree. I was a total SOCOM Adict before I got COD4. I couldn't wait for SOCOM for PS3 to come out but now I am wondering if SOCOM will be able to match COD4 overall. If the graphics and game play are as good and they keep the existing SOCOM lobby, I will move back to that game once it's released.

I'm looking at getting the 42" one on boxing day possibly for use as a computer monitor

I haven't gotten my dvi-hdmi adapter yet, so I can't say how well it will do as a 1080p pc monitor. (vga is limited to 1600x1200)

I don't have anything HD yet. I have tried ota HD football etc. I think it's fantastic, haven't seen any lagging at 1080i.:cool:
