If I went to a bigger size I would have to get a stronger wall mount arm. I will takes some pics of the tv from the other viewable areas soon, to show how affective swing arm mounts are in a condo style setup.

blacks look better from off-screen pics. it also helps when theres a light on in the room. not saying the blacks aren't good, i'm just saying.

The idea that someone could look at those pics of a tv in a well lit room, and judge the black levels of the tv is just mind boggling to me.

Man I owned the 60' SXRD, and it can in NO way compete with a calibrated Kuro. In fact unless you are spending 10k on a JVC, or SIM2 projector, with an outboard processor for adjusting color points, and gamma you still wont touch it. I mean the color is dead perfect!

Aside from some pretty nice equipment, one thing I've gathered from seing many of the pics posted is that many of you are either single or married to some low maintenance women.

I don't mean that as a flame in any way. My wife would have a cow if I had half the mess of cables, power strips, and other stuff visible in my setup that some of you guys have. Having the cables in the walls wasn't even enough for my wife; I had to go as far as having wall plates to terminate everything.

It was the same when I kept my reef aquarium. She didn't care what gadgets I had for it, as long as they were visible.

Um sorry dude, but I own a isf calibrated 960 as well, and yes it is much better in making black, but the color is not near as good as my elite kuro, and the processing is not even close. the 960 cannot hit REC709 color, my kuro does it almost perfect. Unless you have seen both sets setup correctly by a professional dont make bias comments. I own both, so I think my observation holds more weight. Your comment on color with CRT's is really off, for the simple fact they both use red blue green color phos. The only thing a CRT does better is black, and not by much.

At nearly 3 times the price, I would hope it has a better picture. At this range though, you'd be splitting hairs over image quality. Spend that much and the picture is going to look DAMN good no matter which brand you buy. The real question is; Where are those screenshots of the kuro? :D

Which kuro did you own? If it was not an elite, that was also setup right then your point is void. non elite does not have accurate color even after calibration. Elite has near perfect color, and only be bested by a really good Front. All you got to do is pull up calibration data, and you will see how an elite can hit Rec709 color near perfect.

Yah I want to point out that Lucas films uses pioneer plasma for the studio work at skywalker ranch.

At the end of the day, does +/- 1% color accuracy really matter for anything but professional photo/video editing? While you are watching Casino Royale on Blu-Ray, you aren't going to sit there and go "Damn, this doesn't seem to conform to the *insert long number here* color standard. This TV is crap!" even though your TV is (for example) a very sexy LCoS or 1080p plasma.

I'm looking forward to seeing some Unreal Tournament III screenshots soon. Will tide me over until the massive ice storm passes and I can go out and buy it for myself.

TV is on a rotating arm so I can watch tv or play ps3 in my lounge, dining room and kitchen - rectangular condo.

I think my favorite part of cod4 is the minimal hud. It is just the compass unless you are firing. It is great. The voice yelling at you with vague instruction gets annoying. This is a great game. To bad it doesn't have co op.

I agree. I was a total SOCOM Adict before I got COD4. I couldn't wait for SOCOM for PS3 to come out but now I am wondering if SOCOM will be able to match COD4 overall. If the graphics and game play are as good and they keep the existing SOCOM lobby, I will move back to that game once it's released.

Seriously though, this has been pretty entertaining. It's a bit like when a "Girl" shows up on a forum, or an MMORPG, etc, and the fur starts flying as said "Girl" isn't believed by anyone. I'm sure there are some people on here that take pictures of other peoples setups, or from other peoples websites etc, and claim them as their own. It's sad, but I'm sure it happens. Most of the time though? It's just not worth it. I can't see why anyone would do it.

And I thought I was pretty good at money managing for being able to afford the XBR3 for being in my early 20s and in being in college, but you got me beat badly! You sir/madam have my respect. When I was in HS I never saved my money for more than just a few hundred to buy new systems.

I just added changed a crt to a 32" lcd and added a 3rd 360(falcon chip). I have a ps3 connected to two ps2 for lan fun. I have 2 guncon3 guns and time crisis 4 for tonights main event. My game room is very small and cluttered. The two side gamers use head phones. Main tv gets 5.1 . Wish the 20" lcd had headphone out. I enjoy looking at everyones crazy set ups. Everything from bargain basement to amazing theaters. I wish I had more room.

Im new to this forum, my dad let me know about it (Jdallaire), and its a great resource, forgive my crappy equipment, im a broke college student (Jazz Studies major, so i wont be out of that financial situation ever lol). Im proud of it though lol. I camped out for the Circuit city deal on black friday for the sharp 720p 42inch Lcd for 800$, and i got it. It was a long story but both my brother and i planned on getting one, and we were in for a suprise, Everyone in line were going for the same tv. Either way all the vouchers were gone for my TV, and one of the guys ahead of us got one, and i was offering him some cash for it, and he wouldnt trade it unless he got this 46 inch Sharp 1080p Lcd voucher, which my brother happened to pick up because he wanted to buy a TV considering we camped out all night, to come up empty handed. So my brother sacrificed his TV and traded the guy with the 42 Sharp voucher and he gave it to me!

Just wondering why do you have more than 1 copy of some 360 games like prey and Ridge Racer ..

I have multiple copies for system link fun. Each console needs its own disk. Buying mulitple copies of games sucks, but not sharing a screen is priceless. I buy most games used or cheap. As for the multiple copies of lame games, I got em super cheap. Ridge racer was 9.99$ at frys, so I bought multiple copies. I got prey for 20$ each. At the time, I had few fps for the 360. So far halo3 in 4 person co op has been the most fun. We are also having fun with jax combat racing. It is HD (or at least progressive) and 16/9 and has lan. Rare for a ps2 game. It looks very good. We hit crimson skies, ratchet uya, downhill domination, mtx mototraxx, halo3, and time crisis 4 during the weekend. Lots of fun. I even won a few rounds :)

well judging by test results from an hdtv test a month or so ago, the xbr4/5's have some of the best LCD results for keeping its resolution while in motion (around 600) though its still ****** in comparison to the tv i have (one of the reasons why i bought plasma due to gaming and hockey) which is the panny 700u which measured almost keeping 900 lines of its resolution while in motion


i got a few more games now so ill throw some pics up soon, hopefully like i said over the holidays a relative has a better camera than i do because that would help

If you don't mind something smaller I'd recommend either the Panny 700u 42" (that's what I have) or the 42" Pioneer 4280HD (if you sit far enough away since to me I can notice the larger pixels on a 720p at 40+ inches).

I love the pron backrounds that some of you guys have. I specifically keep my computer wallpaper and PS3/PSP wallpapers as non-risque because I know that I'd catch some flak for it.

Reminds me of a few years ago when I was still in highschool. I took my PSP to school with me (it was the first day of a new month, and I had custom wallpapers) and I thought that I had a nice scenic beach wallpaper on there. Sure enough, I pull it out and a girl that sat next to me asked to play it. I whipped it out, turned it on, and handed it to her. After it booted, she started laughing, and when I looked over I saw that it had switched to the naked back half of one Japanese girl, ontop of another naked Japanese girl. Never put pr0n on any of my handheld gadgets ever again.

Heh heh! Yeah, when I showed my wife, she said, "Very nice dear." LOL! I'll have to find a Hayden Christensen or Orlando Bloom Theme for her one of these days. The "X-mas" theme is staying until New Years. ;)

Well, I think we are all adult enough here to know that it is all about fantasy. I'm sure there are some of Salma floating around that aren't so favorable as well, yet we won't see any of those displayed on our PS3's. I agree, though, I would also prefer Salma too, but I wouldn't kick Vida out of my bed for eating crackers. ;)

They don't sound bad at all in my opinion. the room is about 15ft x 30ft and pretty much have the speakers in 4 corners about 5ft from ground.

The treble sounds sharp and bass sound is perfect from the big box, and surrounds whole room. And dialogs from center sound just right. I have pumped the volume to max during a movie, and I was VERY impressed at how clear it sounded. :eek:

Well, you can get the themes here (http://www.allps3themes.com). And I believe you can just copy the theme on a USB flash drive from your PC, plug the drive into one of the USB ports, and then select it from the Themes menu. I'm just guessing right now, as I still have yet to add a custom theme. :)

It's actually pretty good. It almost feels like I'm playing my Saturn, especially since the Wii's graphics are inferior to the Xbox 360 & PS3's, which is usually a bad thing, but that's not why I bought the Wii in the first place. And no to the sound system, although if I ever did buy one, it'd be a Yamaha YSP. I'm not a fan of having humongous speakers and wires all over the place. It's just more stuff I'd have to clean.

For some odd reason, I like keeping stickers and other things of that nature on the things I buy (clothes excluded). The DVR and Xbox 360 still have theirs on. My original Xbox still has the plastic it comes wrapped in that you're supposed to remove before using. :[

It's connected via HDMI to the TV and with optical cable to an Onkyo HTS-770 6.1 system.

Going through these types of pictures (and I looked at the XBOX pics section as well) I really like the look of the XMB over the 360 "blades" user interface. To me it just looks more mature. Like I would feel comfortable leaving the XMB on when company is over. And I agree the three above setups look great. Now if I could only get the wife to let me upgrade our 250 lb. clunker RPTV.

No the demo is a demo of the prologue "full" release, so to speak. It's actually a little confusing if you haven't kept up with the timeline. There was a GT 1080p demo in 2006. Then a GT Prologue Demo late 2007. Then the actual Prologue game is the one released in the Japan market that costs money. And the Prologue game is a pre-cursor to the actual Gran Turismo 5 game that will be released hopefully late 2008.

I was just saying the other day that I really would like to swap out at least the center channel speaker some time soon because dialog is not the best. Your 7.1 must be fun. Very pleased that 50+ inch TVs came down in price as much as they have. I never did have a PS or PS2. We're enjoying all the aspects of the PS3.

nope, tv stand is a sony specifically made for the 70" SXRD. it's got an indentation on the top for the tv's base.

i really haven't noticed it at all, but i'll probably pick up something to angle up the center channel anyway just because i meant to do that to begin with.

Im thinking about upgrading to an emotiva preamp once they have HDMI audio support and dropping my hk 247... It doesnt add the 10db bass boost, and I have a rotel amp so there is not a whole lot of need for it....

The PS3 does not upscale DVD's and I think it's 480p output is pretty lacking compared to what you might find out of a $60 player. Stick to your A1 for standard DVD's.

I love my emotiva equipment, was a drastic improvement from what i had before. The LMC-2 thats coming out will have all the bells and whistles, i cant wait for it, but it has that hefty price tag of aroud $700, but i guess not bad considering what it wil do, but yeah im quite happy with it all.

thanks man, im loving it. I just hooked it up the other day, and i need to get around to get some cable wrap or some wire loom. I have a wall paintable wire cover, but its going to be a little difficult to put up since i have this mounted in the corner of my bedroom (not the most acoustic friendly but best option for my bedroom.)

When they build home theaters they pretty much always build the back seats atop a stage so that the people in the back can see over the people sitting in front of them instead at looking at the back of their heads or chair.

Thanks guys. My wife is pretty cool about my toys. My latest purchase was the Onkyo 805, hence the stickers that are still on it. I have to remove those. She asked me just a couple of days ago what I was going to get next. I want to upgrade my speakers starting with the fronts. I really want tower speakers but she hasn't been too receptive when I brought them up. She prefers wall mounted. It's a big room so when I upgrade, I would like some bigger speakers.

BTW, I played COD4 last night until 2 in the morning and I really paid for it today at work. I was so tired all day.

That made me laugh out loud. It's funny because every once in a while I will look at the space where my 7 year old VCR is and wonder when I'm going to throw it out. I've almost thrown it out 3-4 different times but I always chicken out at the last moment. When I get a new AVR I'm probably going to have to give it the boot.

What are you using to do this? Can you connect the VCR to a pc, us some software and burn the info to a DVD-R?

The PS3 still makes me go "wow" when it's out in the open like that and you don't see any cables coming out of it.

Thanks... I've worked really hard on my home. Have remodeled the whole house myself over the last 4 years, inside and out, with the exception of our master bedroom and bath. That's this year. Here is a pic of what the room looked like when we bought the house.

Thanks Louie... I busted my ass for sure. It wasn't unusual for me to get home from the office at 6PM, eat and change clothes and work until 1am on the house. Every weekend for the first year and half was spent working on the house. I loved it though. I guess it was more like playing than work since I have never done any construction work for a living. It satisfied my creative side since most of the stuff I learned as I did it. It is also very satisfying when company compliments my work or I here my wife bragging about the work I have done on the house.

I attached a photo of my new PS3 setup. My son was playing "Uncharted" when I took the picture. We recently got the Samsung LN-T5265F 1080P LCD (which needs to be replaced due a circular ring of stuck pixels-other than that we love it).

It's connected via HDMI to the TV and with optical cable to an Onkyo HTS-770 6.1 system.

BTW, how can you guys attach the photos in the post?

That's insane it doesn't even look like the same house :eek: ^^ I'm pretty sure that HS wallpaper only appears when you've selected the game in the XMB.

Swifty, I like the 'Post 1499 settings', especially for the PS3. What did you wind up keeping?

However, I can't wait for the replacement to come from amazon this week. What started out as a small circular ring of pixels has become 9 horizontal bars, with the lowest one being the longest at close to 1.5 inches! Check out the pic from my phone. It's clear enough on the background of a GH3 screen.

I did use 1499 and many others to no avail, so I calibrated it according to my own eye which beats any isf equipment....:D

Some folks I know have done it that way. I actually bought a stand-alone DVD recorder w/HDD a few years ago. I hooked the VCR up to that and did most of my boxing collection and high school and college football games, but haven't converted the other 50% of my VHS tapes.
