LC37D62U If I went to a bigger size I would have to get a stronger wall mount arm. I will takes some pics of the tv from the other viewable areas soon, to show how affective swing arm mounts are in a condo style setup. Tv is great! Kingcarcas 12-10-07, 08:58 AM Very nice blacks on that Bravia. rahzel 12-10-07, 12:59 PM blacks look better from off-screen pics. it also helps when theres a light on in the room. not saying the blacks aren't good, i'm just saying. Tigerriot 12-10-07, 01:15 PM The idea that someone could look at those pics of a tv in a well lit room, and judge the black levels of the tv is just mind boggling to me. PARASITE 12-10-07, 01:49 PM Just got my pioneer elite kuro calibrated last night, and let me tell you wait until you see the color! The color now is soo good, its like looking out my window. You know how when you buy a game and look at the screens on the back of the box, but they never quite look like that? Mine does. Tonight I will post some heavenly sword, and Ratchet and Clank pics here, and some Bioshock, halo3, tigerwoods 2008, and Assasins Creed on the Xbox forum. My tv calibrated to perfection, Perfect REC709 HD color. Can't wait to see them. I'm on the fence between the Kuro and the 60" SXRD for my next TV (well, also considering going the full mile and getting a projector) and I'd love to see some action shots. Considering that there is a 4 thousand dollar price gap between the two TV's I'm considering, I'll probably end up with either the SXRD or the Projector, but the Kuro still has a chance to make it's case.:D PARASITE 12-10-07, 04:46 PM Man I owned the 60' SXRD, and it can in NO way compete with a calibrated Kuro. In fact unless you are spending 10k on a JVC, or SIM2 projector, with an outboard processor for adjusting color points, and gamma you still wont touch it. I mean the color is dead perfect! like.no.other. 12-10-07, 05:18 PM Man I owned the 60' SXRD, and it can in NO way compete with a calibrated Kuro. XBR960 beats a calibrated Kuro anytime. CRTs provide more accurate color than Plasma or LCD. Plus it's cheaper. Also, what's that shiny black thing in the foreground, a laptop? Thanks. anonymouscuban 12-10-07, 06:25 PM Aside from some pretty nice equipment, one thing I've gathered from seing many of the pics posted is that many of you are either single or married to some low maintenance women. I don't mean that as a flame in any way. My wife would have a cow if I had half the mess of cables, power strips, and other stuff visible in my setup that some of you guys have. Having the cables in the walls wasn't even enough for my wife; I had to go as far as having wall plates to terminate everything. It was the same when I kept my reef aquarium. She didn't care what gadgets I had for it, as long as they were visible. PARASITE 12-10-07, 07:58 PM XBR960 beats a calibrated Kuro anytime. CRTs provide more accurate color than Plasma or LCD. Plus it's cheaper. Um sorry dude, but I own a isf calibrated 960 as well, and yes it is much better in making black, but the color is not near as good as my elite kuro, and the processing is not even close. the 960 cannot hit REC709 color, my kuro does it almost perfect. Unless you have seen both sets setup correctly by a professional dont make bias comments. I own both, so I think my observation holds more weight. Your comment on color with CRT's is really off, for the simple fact they both use red blue green color phos. The only thing a CRT does better is black, and not by much. SamuraiXmas 12-10-07, 11:18 PM At nearly 3 times the price, I would hope it has a better picture. At this range though, you'd be splitting hairs over image quality. Spend that much and the picture is going to look DAMN good no matter which brand you buy. The real question is; Where are those screenshots of the kuro? :D like.no.other. 12-11-07, 12:33 AM Um sorry dude, but I own a isf calibrated 960 as well, and yes it is much better in making black, but the color is not near as good as my elite kuro, and the processing is not even close. the 960 cannot hit REC709 color, my kuro does it almost perfect. I really not in the mood to argue but just to point out that I actually have a Kuro for about 2 months and still had and have my XBR960. Both ISF calibrated, and right next to each other playing the same content with the same source using the same equipment. In addition, I also own a Bravia XBR4, SXRD, LED, DLP all with ISF calibration and XBR960 still comes up to the top accurate wise and sometimes picture as a whole. Also, most of the studio used by professionals are using CRT as their monitor and basing the color on it rather than other technology. You might prefer Kuro over XBR960 but your comment about being the most accurate TV color is completely your opinion. You are also comparing a $2,000 1920x1080p TV to a average $800 1440x1080i TV. Which kuro did you own? If it was not an elite, that was also setup right then your point is void. non elite does not have accurate color even after calibration. Elite has near perfect color, and only be bested by a really good Front. All you got to do is pull up calibration data, and you will see how an elite can hit Rec709 color near perfect. BTW pictures will be up tommorow, I had to work late and then we just watched Pirates at Worlds End on bluray. Damm is all I can say. PARASITE 12-11-07, 01:22 AM Which kuro did you own? Yah I want to point out that Lucas films uses pioneer plasma for the studio work at skywalker ranch. SamuraiXmas 12-11-07, 01:26 AM At the end of the day, does +/- 1% color accuracy really matter for anything but professional photo/video editing? While you are watching Casino Royale on Blu-Ray, you aren't going to sit there and go "Damn, this doesn't seem to conform to the *insert long number here* color standard. This TV is crap!" even though your TV is (for example) a very sexy LCoS or 1080p plasma. I'm looking forward to seeing some Unreal Tournament III screenshots soon. Will tide me over until the massive ice storm passes and I can go out and buy it for myself. SamuraiXmas 12-12-07, 01:37 PM Still going to post some shots? PARASITE 12-13-07, 12:54 AM OK here is the first couple of pictures. I'm kinda just testing how well the camera worked. The TV actually looks like framed art hanging on the wall in the XMB like that. That's one expensive frame :) Brandon anonymouscuban 12-13-07, 12:06 PM Or your wife is high maintenance? You got that right! Mindwarper 12-13-07, 01:15 PM I think my favorite part of cod4 is the minimal hud. It is just the compass unless you are firing. It is great. The voice yelling at you with vague instruction gets annoying. This is a great game. To bad it doesn't have co op. Thanks mang... I really love my Panny. COD4 is the first game I've purchased for my PS3 and it looks amazing on it. However, I now play half the time on my AE900 Panny PJ with a 106" screen. I have to take some shots of it. I'm stoked because I tried playing PS2 games on the PJ, spefically SOCOM CA, and it looked horrible. I agree. I was a total SOCOM Adict before I got COD4. I couldn't wait for SOCOM for PS3 to come out but now I am wondering if SOCOM will be able to match COD4 overall. If the graphics and game play are as good and they keep the existing SOCOM lobby, I will move back to that game once it's released. Please tell me your major isn't English. Lol, I joke, I joke, I jokawitu Seriously though, this has been pretty entertaining. It's a bit like when a "Girl" shows up on a forum, or an MMORPG, etc, and the fur starts flying as said "Girl" isn't believed by anyone. I'm sure there are some people on here that take pictures of other peoples setups, or from other peoples websites etc, and claim them as their own. It's sad, but I'm sure it happens. Most of the time though? It's just not worth it. I can't see why anyone would do it. Though... a 27 year old guy with an 18 year old kid doesn't add up. Unless he is a realllllll pimp  ValkyrieStation 12-14-07, 12:08 AM I'm only 16 and I worked for 2 summers to get to where I am now, so please keep that in mind. In my computer/game room Sony XBR4 40" LCD Sony Playstation 3 & PS2 hiding the back Sony DA-VIS10 Speakers Pioneer Elite DVL90 I was originally using the down stairs living room's Sony Grand Wega 3LCD 54" So far I have the XBR40 also connected to PC in the rear of the room and using VGA Extension + USB Extension to bring the keyboard and mouse towards the front. Here's some pics : -snip- So far I like what i'm seeing with other people's lay out! :D Great to see them all! I see you have those Sony golf size speakers. How loud do they go? Does it sound cheap? How durable is those things? I am just curious because that size is more like a tweeter more than a full range speaker. PiNG1434 12-28-07, 06:17 AM I see you have those Sony golf size speakers. How loud do they go? Does it sound cheap? How durable is those things? I am just curious because that size is more like a tweeter more than a full range speaker. They don't sound bad at all in my opinion. the room is about 15ft x 30ft and pretty much have the speakers in 4 corners about 5ft from ground. The treble sounds sharp and bass sound is perfect from the big box, and surrounds whole room. And dialogs from center sound just right. I have pumped the volume to max during a movie, and I was VERY impressed at how clear it sounded. I'm not a sound expert, but i think they do a real good job for their size... kind of unbelievable. :) like.no.other. 12-28-07, 12:48 PM They don't sound bad at all in my opinion. the room is about 15ft x 30ft and pretty much have the speakers in 4 corners about 5ft from ground. Eayes 12-28-07, 04:32 PM I've seen on this thread where people post "themes" for their ps3, can anoyone explain how that works or where you get them or make them? Rambler358 12-28-07, 04:39 PM ...and my daughter admiring the setup :) Nice. What PS3 theme is she looking at? Rambler358 12-28-07, 04:42 PM I've seen on this thread where people post "themes" for their ps3, can anoyone explain how that works or where you get them or make them? Well, you can get the themes here (http://www.allps3themes.com). And I believe you can just copy the theme on a USB flash drive from your PC, plug the drive into one of the USB ports, and then select it from the Themes menu. I'm just guessing right now, as I still have yet to add a custom theme. :) SunnyUK 12-28-07, 06:37 PM Eayes, just make sure you copy them in this way PS3/THEME/*theme here* or else the PS3 will not recognize them. ;) briankmonkey 12-28-07, 07:25 PM Well, you can get the themes here (http://www.allps3themes.com). No transferring, etc. If your PS3 isn't connected to the web then yeah, I'd go your route. PiNG1434 12-29-07, 12:06 AM What was your last speakers in comparison to this or is this your first surround sound system? I was originaly using big component speaker system, that i have in my living room. lmz00 01-01-08, 03:48 AM http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc112/mrjudeguerra/DSC00367.jpg My bedroom setup. It almost feels like I'm playing my Saturn, especially since the Wii's graphics are inferior to the Xbox 360 & PS3's, which is usually a bad thing, but that's not why I bought the Wii in the first place. And no to the sound system, although if I ever did buy one, it'd be a Yamaha YSP. I'm not a fan of having humongous speakers and wires all over the place. It's just more stuff I'd have to clean. emacs 01-02-08, 07:49 PM Beautiful emacs! As I have the Japanese download, and am just wondering  No the demo is a demo of the prologue "full" release, so to speak. It's actually a little confusing if you haven't kept up with the timeline. There was a GT 1080p demo in 2006. Then a GT Prologue Demo late 2007. Then the actual Prologue game is the one released in the Japan market that costs money. And the Prologue game is a pre-cursor to the actual Gran Turismo 5 game that will be released hopefully late 2008. Brandon Dankir 01-08-08, 12:20 PM I attached a photo of my new PS3 setup. Thanks, but the Onkyo was bascially an entry level HTIB in '04. I was just saying the other day that I really would like to swap out at least the center channel speaker some time soon because dialog is not the best. Your 7.1 must be fun. So how do you like it? prostreetcamaro 01-09-08, 11:43 PM The PS3 does not upscale DVD's and I think it's 480p output is pretty lacking compared to what you might find out of a $60 player. Stick to your A1 for standard DVD's. I did not read this entire thread but I noticed a bunch of people saying the ps3 does not upconvert standard DVD's. It DOES upconvert them. DVD Upscaler Adjust settings for upscaled output when playing a DVD. Upscaling is a feature that can be used to enable content recorded at SD resolution (NTSC: 480p / 480i, PAL: 576p / 576i) to be displayed in HD resolution (1080p / 1080i / 720p). Because the video content of commercial DVDs is recorded in SD resolution, higher resolution video can be achieved by enabling upscaled output. Off - Set to disable upscaled output. Double Scale* - Set to upscale and display with double horizontal and vertical dimensions without changing the proportions. Normal - Set to upscale and display at a size that matches the screen size. Full Screen - Set to upscale and display at full screen by changing proportions and stretching the image * This option can be used only when the video output setting of the PS3™ system is set to 1080p or 1080i. Hints To use this feature, a TV that is compatible with HD input and output must be connected using an HDMI or component AV cable. Also, the video output setting of the PS3™ system must be set to 1080p, 1080i, or 720p. When playing copyright-protected DVD content such as commercially available DVD-Video, an HDMI cable is required to upscale the video content. Love the Emotiva stuff. Bigred7078 01-10-08, 12:51 AM Man that emotiva stuff is bad ass.... Im thinking about upgrading to an emotiva preamp once they have HDMI audio support and dropping my hk 247... It doesnt add the 10db bass boost, and I have a rotel amp so there is not a whole lot of need for it.... So how do you like it? I love my emotiva equipment, was a drastic improvement from what i had before. The LMC-2 thats coming out will have all the bells and whistles, i cant wait for it, but it has that hefty price tag of aroud $700, but i guess not bad considering what it wil do, but yeah im quite happy with it all. My latest purchase was the Onkyo 805, hence the stickers that are still on it. I have to remove those. She asked me just a couple of days ago what I was going to get next.
