Nice background image. That image was completely created with Photoshop and some Maya I believe. I used to frequent a community of digital artists and see artwork they created with these programs......UNBELIEVABLE stuff!!

I probably will when I move, right now my 360 and PS3 are on my wireless netowork and anything that reduces interference in my apartment complex (which has tons of wireless traffic) is appreciated. I'm moving in a couple months and when i do I'm going to have the option to run ethernet up from the basement right behind the TV stand and put all the network stuff on a wired switch, so I probably will switch it then.

Oh yeah, I'm not kidding I love the way that style looks. It's very relaxing and has a personality. I remember the yellow and green that rocks. Please tell me you have the old square green phone in the kitchen on the wall.

I've got a PS3 60GB upgraded to a 120GB.

Really curious why so many keep their front speakers fairly close to each other. With some setups I can see that space limitations are the restriction (I have a similar situation). But for other setups, it appears they have the space, and could increase their front stereo imaging width, but apparently choose not to.

Funny you should mention that. I have my front speakers on stands. It isn't practical for me to have them wide all the time. But last night while watching the Simpsons Movie, I noticed that there was excellent separation in the DTS audio. So I moved the speakers out, and wow, it made a big difference.

I agree, go cry somewhere else. Ps3 pics, is pretty self explanetory.

I happen to like the screen shots, and if I didn't it only takes a second to scroll past them. I also like the shots of the set ups but I think it's all in the same category.

well you guys have to give me some slack I dont have all the great systems that you do but here are my pics, Panny 50 1080p(just streaming music here) Panny BD10a blu-ray player, denon 4306 amp, 7 B&W speakers in wall and ceiling, DCM sub. My collection of DVD and Blu ray discs, I only have like 35 blu-ray discs, and 7 PS3 games. And no I am not good with a camera. I keep all my movies and such in the basement so no clutter.

thanks bud I think I have like 650 dvds and around 35 blu rays, not all my dvds are here, I do have 2 little girls that have a ton of dvds but they are not in the basement where I keep mine. I will try to post playing PS3 pics later, this was just put together real fast. When I had the house built I wanted it wired for 7.1 which did not turn out to bad.

At first glance I thought that was just wood shelves in an unfinished room. Then I saw the shelf itself and how cool it is. It would be really hid/tucked the wires. I know its a pain but it would be really nice to see.

It;s stil a work in progress..

What i plan on doing is channeling the wires along the back of the shelves, horizontally, and have the vertical runs up the back of the silver supports.. its a lot easier said then done though.. getting to that point took me offline for almost two weeks as it was! :D

No offense Jeffy...but my God! How many dang screen shots are you gonna post. I mean...geez...I've seen screen shots. We like to see really clear screen shots on some different sources / images, but not the same old game over and over again.

More importantly, if you look at the history of the thread, you will see most people post about their set up, include a few screen shots to give us a performance evaluation, and thats it.

I've got an idea. Start your own thread called Jeffy's screen shots. When we want to see some more Ratchet shots on your set, we'll come knockin!

condemmed 2 has a very Silent Hillish type of atmosphere with a pinch of half life 2. Those screams freaked the hell out of me specially since I was wearing surround sound headphones.

Um--you can most certainly ignore posts. You just have to go into your User CP.

I've never seen so much pissing and moaning in a picture thread about someone posting PICTURES. Especially when people are asking for more pictures. :rolleyes:

I just got a new TV stand, and as such I think I can finally show off my system. The old one looked like crap. ;)

Please excuse the mess. :) I'm still cleaning up after the transfer to the new stand.

The stand comes with glass shelves and pegs with plastic holders that hold up the shelves. The center spot is not drilled for these shelves. There are supposed to be drawers there. I needed the extra shelf, though. So I drilled through the existing holes on the opposite side of the board to create 4 new shelf holding holes in the center spot. The shelf fit perfectly, and my center channel fits perfectly there.

The new stand is 19" tall with 8 1/2" tall plastic feet hammered into the bottom of the base. It comes with metal legs, 2 drawers, and sliding glass doors, none of which I used.

Anyway, it was perfect for what I needed with a little modification. I think it looks awesome, personally. :)

On the left is the DirecTV HR20 and the XBox. Center is the Athena Point 5 center channel on top of the Vaio 200 disc firewire DVD changer (hooked up to my media center PC on the right). On the right is my Sony receiver, which is long due for an upgrade. Under that is the PS3 80Gig. The TV is a Sony KDS-60A3000 60" SXRD RPTV.

Shape, it is definitely time to upgrade that receiver. I'm pretty sure you can't bitstream DD during bluray playback over optical because it chokes on the higher bandwidth so you have to plII the 2.0 PCM signal. I had a str de-885 and I finally upgraded for that reason. Where's your right speaker!?

As Ive said before, pictures of peoples games show me nothing more then the quality of their camera.

I hope this is the last time I have to say to jeffy, or anybody else, that they should not listen to the posters asking them to stop posting screenshots. Do not get discouraged by all of the complaint posts and by all means continue to post whatever pics you want because there are those of us who either want to see them or have no problem with any of them.

Even if that weren't clearly spelled out, PS3 Pics is vague enough that a person can post pics of games, setups with the ps3 in it, or pics of the damn game cases in their setup if they want. And if you go back to the first couple pages there are about 1 million pics of F1, Motorstorm and Resistance...because that's what the thread is for!

That's a perfectly reasonable thing to do. And also pretty immature to take a shot at those guys by calling them "crazy" just because they disagree with you, when it's typically the other group that is getting "all fired up" again.

The STR-DE995 that I have can actually do DD at the higher Blu-Ray bitrate . I thought I had an issue with DD and Blu-Ray originally, but it turns out that my optical to coaxial converter was causing the audio skipping I was seeing. And DTS at 1.5M sounds great.

I will upgrade the receiver when the 2008's start coming out. The current crop of microprocessor controlled receivers all seem to have some flaws. The Denon 3808 I was looking at seems to have some pretty slow on screen menus, for instance.

My right speaker is just out of the frame. :)

However, I just purchased some Athena LS-500 speakers for $150 a piece.

I'll be making the Athena S.5s I have right now into a 7.1 system. :) Should sound good with DD-EX and 7.1 DTS with the current receiver. And even better once I get an upgraded receiver.

well that is a problem. we obviously have 2 groups of people here. those who are only interested in other members setups and those who want to see screenshots of games on a tv.

i guess my problem is with someone like jeffyjaixx. 1 or 2 screenshots isn't too bad and i can skip right by it. but this guys is taking up page after page with screenshots of the same damn game.

can we at least come to some kind of agreement on a limit of screenshots?

i dont mean to be rude or come across like i am attacking anyone. its just frustrating.

does that 3rd group want to see a full page of screenshots from the same game over and over again? i have a hard time believing even that 3rd group isn't just skipping by most of the screenshots.

It would be nice if maybe a little common sense was used when posting pics. A picture of your setup with a new stand in it, including a little story? That's interesting! A pair of pictures from a new game, showing of some nifty little thing like a bad guy jumping at you? Interesting! You changed something in your setup, like got a new reciever? Tell us about it! Ten pictures of the same dark, empty hallway? That's not interesting! Thirty-five pictures of the back of some fuzzy biped looking at a tree or a building? Not interesting!

You want to post pictures of a game playing on a display? Sure! Great! Go ahead! Take the time to make them actually worth looking at though. In short, make sure that the picture is worth sharing, before going ahead and sharing it.

I for one could care less if you post screenshots, i just think you should cut down the quantity of them. The problem with posting so many, is that your basically showing a timeline of the game, and many people want to experience that for themselves. Opening a new world, or seeing something new is often times the fun part of the game, and by showing pictures of them frame by frame lol you can make it a spolier. So yeah just my .02

Okay. I guess the problem is that I thought that this thread would be like most other PS3 pics threads I frequent visit because I have no such problem in those. That is, that it would be full of people viewing and posting their PS3 pics because many are interested in how a game looks like, how the different worlds of a game would look like, how a demo looks like and how colour, PQ and black levels would look like on a certain TV model etc.

Jeffy, no worries and your new compromise seems to more then fair and should satisfy everyone's issues ;). By the way, to get a jump on your new philosophy for posting to this thread, do you by chance have any Ratchet and Clank pics to share...(I joke, I joke).

A lot of nice setups in this thread! When I can find a way to take better pictures, I'll post mine as well (damn low light area and flash washing everything out :mad:).

As Ive said before, pictures of peoples games show me nothing more then the quality of their camera.

Exactly. A lot of people on here have TVs that are as good or better than jeffy's (not that jeffy's isn't a great TV), but you would never it know it with some of our cameras.

It would be nice if maybe a little common sense was used when posting pics. A picture of your setup with a new stand in it, including a little story? That's interesting! A pair of pictures from a new game, showing of some nifty little thing like a bad guy jumping at you? Interesting! You changed something in your setup, like got a new reciever? Tell us about it! Ten pictures of the same dark, empty hallway? That's not interesting! Thirty-five pictures of the back of some fuzzy biped looking at a tree or a building? Not interesting!

You want to post pictures of a game playing on a display? Sure! Great! Go ahead! Take the time to make them actually worth looking at though. In short, make sure that the picture is worth sharing, before going ahead and sharing it.

wow, when i said that jeffy's pictures bored the f out of everyone i got freaking reamed. and now everybody is telling him to stop. guess it just took one more useless post for people to get sick of ratchet and freaking clank. it makes me want to not play the copy i own.

i have a hard time believing even that 3rd group isn't just skipping by most of the screenshots.

not everybody buys a game on its release date. ive only had ratchet for about 3 weeks. and only play about twice a week. so i think it could definitely be a spoiler for someone who games less than 40 hrs a week.

Dude as was stated right before me PEOPLE STILL BUY GAMES THAT ARE OLD (not that 6 months is old, but still), especially people just now buying a PS3. So im pretty sure its fair to say its a spoiler to some. A frame by frame reference to whats going on in a game is not cool for everyone. I never bought uncharted or R&C but geeze i definately dont have to now since i know what every "level" looks like lol. Many ask each other what their setup is, request game screens and help improve each other's TV's PQ in real life. I know, forums cannot be compared but I thought this thread would be similar since it does say PS3 pics for setups and games.

I have an idea. What about disclaimers and spoiler tags for some of you people who don't like looking at all these pics? Can the spoiler tag hide the screens? Something along the lines of "Here are some more different levels of Ratchet or Condemned 2 etc.", then the spoiler tags. That way, those of you who wish not to see these shots can just skip by it. Are there even spoiler tags btw on this site?

I'm trying to find a way for all groups to co-exist instead of biting each other's heads off.

The STR-DE995 that I have can actually do DD at the higher Blu-Ray bitrate . I thought I had an issue with DD and Blu-Ray originally, but it turns out that my optical to coaxial converter was causing the audio skipping I was seeing. And DTS at 1.5M sounds great.

I will upgrade the receiver when the 2008's start coming out. The current crop of microprocessor controlled receivers all seem to have some flaws. The Denon 3808 I was looking at seems to have some pretty slow on screen menus, for instance.

My right speaker is just out of the frame. :)

However, I just purchased some Athena LS-500 speakers for $150 a piece.

I'll be making the Athena S.5s I have right now into a 7.1 system. :) Should sound good with DD-EX and 7.1 DTS with the current receiver. And even better once I get an upgraded receiver.

Oh, and DirecTv decides to do on demand so that's another ethernet cable that I don't even have an available port for on my router. It never ends!

You could eliminate alot of frustration by maybe simplifying. :) I just went through my system and got rid of about half the parts. My pics are in the 360 version of this thread though, as I have not a PS3 yet (FF13 isn't out!). Why am I following this thread then? Cuz maybe something will show up that will convince me to get a PS3 earlier. :)

Jeffy, i was exaggerating lol. I have nothing against you posting pictures or screenshots. Its just that so many of the same thing is so repetitive and annoying. And after you post so many pics of the same thing it can be a spoiler. If your posting like 1-3 pics of screenshots, thats not really a big deal, its just when you show every enviroment (ex: Uncharted, and R&C) with mulitiple pics it can be a spolier. DAN - Very cost-effective setups you put together there! I hacked up a set of Logitech X-530's and hooked them up to my old Sony reciever (de885) to put surround in my bedroom. :) For the price Logitech speakers can be hard to beat in general.

Another suggestion: I love this thread, and I'm more interested in seeing people's setups than seeing screenshots of games/blu-ray. However, when it comes to setups vs screenshots, I think this thread should be open to both. :)

On another forum that I visit, there's an unwritten rule: If you're gonna post more than 5 pics of anything, especially really big pictures, post them in link form or even thumbnail form, rather than a dozen huge pics. Nobody is forced to do so, but it's just common courtesy. Of course, it's a free world, but just a suggestion. Personally, I couldn't care less either way.

It's not noticeable on my Sony LCD which I mainly use to play it. I will check on the Panasonic, I just used the game for pics mainly, hence the dojo mode in the pictures...

Thought I would share my living room setup.
The equipment is a 60A3000, Playstation 3, Onkyo SR800(using in 5.1), old xbox, and DirecTv HD DVR box. The front 2 speakers use to be on stands, but my dog gets way to excited chasing the cats. We kept coming homing finding them laying on the ground. Future purchase will be some floor standing speakers. Nothing exciting, just wanted to share.

Do you guys play your games LOUD, I only do when no one is home but if my family comes over or whatever I don't put the games at full force.

awd96 - Your front speakers look light enough that if they don't have wall mount points, you could probably put them on little shelves up on the wall. Moving them more to head level would help with the audio alot. If you really want to leave them where they are, then at least put something under the front of the speakers so that they angle upward toward your head.

I'm not worried about the top shelf coming down or anything, it honestly looks and feels very well built. The tv is about 100lbs. and I've got most of it's weight pushed towards the back of the stand where the supports are. Nothing else sits on the top, so no worries. It's a nice easily assembled stand. The only thing I don't like about it, is the black glass shelving seems to attract alot of dust. But thank you for the kind words.

yeah I need to move the center up a bit, I had it in place before I upgraded to a 52" set. Sound coming from the center is great though. I am using some older Infinity speakers, I've had them for about 3 years, they sound great with the onkyo reciever though, so no rush on upgrading. I'm pretty happy with the way everything looks and sounds in HD/trueHD. Pictures do not do the tv justice btw. My camera sucks, no tripod, and poor photographer = blurry pics. ;)

Can't go wrong with the Onkyo! Love my 705, and that truhd sound! Heh....it used to be looking for widescreen on regular dvd's, now find myself looking for hd audio tracks on blu ray. Onkyo reciever + PS3 = a match made in HD heaven! :D

yep i love my onkyo avr. the loss less audio from blu ray movies is awesome. now that i have a good sub woofer i can really enjoy the LFE, it was ok before with my old sub (klh lol) but my new polk psw10 100watt sub really gives me the low's/LFE good. i got my onkyo at a great price and i am glad i upgraded to enjoy the loss less sound on my blu ray movies.

I just moved into my new house. I am going with a very simple and clean look. Unforunately, I haven't had the chance to put up my speakers yet. I'll hopefully get around to it next weekend. 46" Sharp looks small there for some reason:D

At first glance I thought that was just wood shelves in an unfinished room. Then I saw the shelf itself and how cool it is. It would be really hid/tucked the wires. I know its a pain but it would be really nice to see.

I love the wires, that is an art work by itself. It gives me a sense of chaos. It has an effect of warming me up for games. Kudos to you.

It really isn't a problem. I was pretty worried at first but it really worked out in the end. You can't tell from the picture, but the TV is tilted down.

Yes it's an electrical drop down screen, speakers are Canton Karat Reference :)

I mean an RS1 with a tab tensioned electric screen and Canton speakers in a purple room with green , grey and white accents , it's like a lady cave with some damn nice MAN gear ( lol ) .

Not doggin on the room either , it's pretty contemporary & clean looking (which I like) but it just seems odd for an HT room .

No offense (truly) , I am just always curious about the HT design choices that people make ( and honestly those choices can be tough when compromise is required ) . I know many on here don't care for my red couch and I am perfectly fine with that because it makes my wife happy :D .

* Oh and do you remove the Cacti/rocks when viewing so it does not block the sound from the center ( assuming of course that there is a seat where the picture was taken from ) ?

Well it's not really an HT room, it's our living room first, unfortunately we don't live in a house we are young (26) and the cost of buying a house here (Europe) is crazy, so even if I wanted a dedicated HT room I couldn't because of the lack of space.

Then I wish I could blame the WAF for the room but actually I took care of it, how gay of me -but I'm French so I guess it makes it ok :P more seriously contemporary design is my first love, HT comes second so it was important for me to integrate as much as possible the hardware and keep the room clean, that's why I ordered a white RS1 from Japan so it would look better with the white celling.

I'm trying to keep a certain balance, It's obvious that a non-dedicated room is far from perfect and I have to make some compromise, so no I don't remove the rocks/cacti from the table when watching a movie, I know I have a white celling killing my contrast and that I have only 5.1 and not 7.1 but heh it's first a living room :P

in that pic the cabinet does look like its bowing for some odd reason, but in person it is not. And i have frosted glass on the doors. I dont like em much, i'll eventually change them out to the black mesh grills.

I don't know about your PS3, but mine vents out the back. The intake is on the side.

probably my second choice of gear if I had to do it all over again with the same budget. Great looking room as well. Looks comfy and very "movie-y" lol.

I have simple question that I need help with. I have been trying to take a good picture of my setup (front projector on a Carada screen) and I can't see to get a good picture. If I turn the lights completely off to get the best picture possible, I can't use the flash on my camera because it whites out the screen. If I don't use the flash I get a very dark picture.

So, is there a generally recommended setting to use for digital camera to take the best pictures for a front projection image? THanks!

Does your camera have a dark setting (maybe night time setting)? Can you turn up the ISO manually? Try those to get a better pic.

does anyone have problems with their ps3 over heating inside a cabinet with doors? My setup has doors pleanty of space for the ps3 good room on each side front and back and with the doors closed it over heated and burnt out . it wa sbad you could smell melting plastic

I have my receiver in the bottom middle cabinet with the backing off in the rear. I have the backing on both the left and right side of the cabinets and have the wires run through the bottom of the backing. You can adjust the twist caps on the back of the aluminum extrusion posts to allow wires to run below or above the backings.

I'll get some new pictures taken tonight and try to get some movie and game screenshots to post as well.

The picture is plenty bright enough, even in a fully lit room. During the day, the kids use the system to play games, watch TiVo and movies. It is dim and the quality is mediocre, but it's bright enough to be able to watch.

At night, with all the lights off, the image is extremely bright. We have an led rope light in the crown molding that goes around the room. With those turned on, the room has "medium" lighting at night. This amount of light is very comfortable to watch movies with. There is some washout and I wouldn't consider it "reference" but the quality is still very good. I'll try to get some pictures both ways and post. I don't know how well it will all come out, but I'll give it a go.

The 50' fiber cable is fantastic. Actually, it's 15M, so 49'. It was quite pricey, but I run it at 1080p/60 with no problems. The cable is powered and has female ends on both sides. I purchased it from Digital Connection. It's the HDMA015 Fiber Optic HDMI UXGA Cable w/transceivers (http://www.digitalconnection.com/products/cables/hdm.asp). On the projector side, I have a 1M cable going to the projector and on the source end, I have 2M cable going into my D2. So, 18M (59') total. I've never had any sparkles, HDMI, HDCP, etc problems. There's probably a cheaper way to do it with the same results, but nothing I could find at the time. New HDMI products and higher quality cables are being manufactured all the time now.

I used to run the setup topics on gamefaqs and I have a list of setups from when I did it, does anyone want to see it? (links for each setup included in the list, but some of the links might be dead)

OK. I took some pictures yesteday during daylight, dusk and at night. The picture quality is horrible. I'm sorry. I didn't use a tripod and had to experiment with the manual settings so I wouldn't have too much exposure and not use the flash. Next time I'll break out the tripod and pause the screen. If anyone has any suggestions on where to start with aperature and shutter speed settings, I'd appreciate it.

The is just a directory listing of images. Each image is full resolution from the camera, named appropriately for the shot. These are not representative of the picture quality. The daylight images appear to be much more washed out than they really are.

The night images give a good respresentation with both completely dark and the LED lights around the room.

As you can see on the full zoomed in image, where I only have the screenshot and not the rest of the room, it's almost impossible to tell the difference with the lights on or off.

Again, picture taking technique tips are encouraged.

I like the screen height of the 92" screen (45"). I think the max size screen I can fit on my front wall is 52" high, so a 106" screen. I'm happy with the 92" for now. I figure one day I'll move up to a 2.4:1 screen with a CIH setup, in which case, I'll go with a 52" x 124" or so sized screen.

How far are your head position to the screen in the front love seat and the back couch?

Also, have you considered raising your couch in the back? How can you see over individuals in the love seat?

They filter out over 90% and if you can help control the light a bit better behind them for leaking on top/bottom/sides then you can get almost total light control (I also have mini blinds on the windows behind the curtains) . They are black velvet curtains with blackout cloth lined on the back . They are available at a local chain store (Fred Meyer) that is not nation wide so location is not going to help you there much unless you live in the Northwest USA (Oregon/Washington) . They are very reasonable price wise at under $30 per panel , we have about 12 panels throughout the house since we like them so much . I can probably get the brand/model for you tomorrow if you would like to find them ?

Honestly the sub is something that I have had for many years and it's great for HT use (it's a DB monster considering it's size) but it is not very musical . The Bostons play very flat which I like and they can hold their own against many speakers costing much more ( especially for what I paid which was an insane deal ;) ) . The mix of the CV sub and Bostons is not ideal but the Audyssey MultiEQ in the Marantz has helped smooth out my bass and the blend is nearly perfect now (you cannot even tell that the bass is not coming from my mains until you turn off the sub) . I am pretty happy with it and my sub out performs just about any of the B&M subs that I auditioned for HT use ( I know some of the internet brands would out perform it but that is why I am going to dual 15's in the near future , plus this is a rather large room to fill ) .

The love seat is about 12' from the screen and the couch is about 17' from the screen.

If you recline the rear couch you can just see over the love seat with no one it it. In a relaxed upright position you can just see over the adult heads in the love seat. I have a 5 year old girl and a 2 year old boy so I never really have a problem with seeing over them if they are in the loveseat. The loveseat is also a rocker/recliner so when adults are over and sit in the loveseat they usually recline somewhat.

I am limited sometimes with seating options but it hasn't been too much of a problem, yet. I do see myself adding another riser to the rear eventually.

No more embarased when I used to game on this. You will improve it over time, just upgrade slowly and eventually you will have a 50 inch+ TV with a 7.1 system, I'm still working on that myself.

The stand is something that I have had for years and I think it was purchased from BestBuy but they have not carried it for a long time , the stand is at least 10 years old but made from real wood so it has held up well . We are actually looking to replace it sometime soon for something taller with more shelves .

The picture frame is just a normal frame that I found at Target .

HA HA, I have that same exact component rack Jason! I too have had mine forever and have numerous holes in the back cover for all the different components ive had in there over the years. Most recently an HDMI hole for my new Elite 360.

Organized , that's funny ... it's a mess of cables back there that would make a spider have web envy ;) . Although my power cables are apart from all the other cables (just in case) .

I really need to re-do it , I have changed out AVR's more times than I care to recall within the last couple months and it has taken its toll on my wire management .

Some tips though , keep the devices with the most connections (cables) on the bottom so that all of those cables are not draped across all the other gear (usually that means the AVR goes on the bottom) . Keep Audio cables away from Video cables and keep both of those away from power cables and keep all of it away from your speaker cables ( there now , doesn't that sound easy ... not ;) ) .

Keep your gear at the back of the room if using front projection and with the lights from the gear not pointing towards the screen , those little LEDs can destroy CR in a light controlled room so keep them as out of sight as possible (out of the projection room is of course the best option if you can do it) .

This is not our real HT just yet ;) , this is a temp solution until we buy our next home ( within the next few years ) that will have a huge dedicated HT room ( we already have the floor plan picked out ... can't wait to get my bat cave ) .

The high ISO/grainy pics above really do not show the true color of the couch , it's actually a pretty deep red and it goes really well in the room . The real HT will end up with true theater seating however ;) .
