I'm not the owner. But it's a Samsung HLP-5085. 720p. It was one of the best DLP's in late 2004 - early 2005.

When you post in advanced mode, there's a little icon that looks like a postcard with a mountain -- to the left of the link icon. Just click that and put in the web address of the photo you are posting to.

Thoughtful picture posters keep their images to around 640x480. :D

If you plan on leaving the PS3 on top of your AVR, I'm fairly certain you will end up with a problem. Your AVR can't ventilate properly and will overheat. Because of this, your PS3 will also pick up the added heat and may cause an additional problem to your PS3.

You may already know this, and move it off the AVR when the AVR is on. Just trying to save you a future headache and additional expense.

I watched Talladega Nights via optical cable last night.

What is happening is sometimes when the unit is switching from ProLogic of the dashboard to Dolby Digital of a movie or game, it will occasionally stick in PL mode, resulting in no sound. This has happen twice for me. Once I reboot it's fine.

I'll bet/hope there will be an update that fixes this.

Reading more about it, it sounds like an issue with using HDMI for video and optical for audio. Check some of the other threads concerning it.

Well, I couldn't find one I liked, so I built it. There are almost no cabinets out there that are big enough to handle my center speaker - plus most stands are open air silver and glass - just not my thing.

Resistance does broken glass so well I'm surprised it's not in there more. From what I've notice, the first shot or two cracks it, then the next couple shots break it, and the final couple shots cause the remaining broken glass to fall out of the pane and smash to the floor.

The PS3 seems to really love physics effects. :cool:

Haha, yeah...still kinda messy and a work in progress, but why cant we enjoy BOTH the 360 and the PS3??! I am a dual-fanboy!

BTW...I have Gears of War pics in the XBR2 owners thread...that game looks better than any game I have seen on PS3 thus far (any game PERIOD, for that matter). While I believe PS3 has a ton of potential, GOW just knocked it out the park in the visuals department.

Honestly...not that great of a camera! It's a 3 year old Kodak EasyShare (CX6330). It's only 3.1 megapixels, but I can still get some good shots out of it. I set the camera down on my bed (TV as at the foot) and use the timer to snap a pic, so I dont have to hold the camera and risk moving it. I still get some blur sometimes, but choose to post the best ones, obviously :)

I got it from Fry's Electronics, which I believe is only in Texas and California. Their website is outpost.com, but to be honest, their site is pretty bad. It doesnt have nearly what they have in stores. I am not sure of the brand/model # because I am at work right now, but I will take a look at the box later and see if I can give you some more info. I think someone else has asked me about that in the past, so thanks for reminding me!

SonnyC79, they actually fairly recently put up www.frys.com. FYI, it still sucks but check it out for yourself. Fry's stores themselvesf however kicks butt with great prices :)

Thanks. I took a shelf out that my ps2 was on but I wanna get rid of the shelf support pegs. My speakers are basically flush with the front of of the TV stand and I've been wanting to move them further out and angle them a little but have been a little lazy. I have media storage and my sub to the left and more storage to the right just out of frame that would need to move.

Here is mine. I'm going to be upgrading to a 47" Westinghouse early next year. My CRT HDTV only outputs at 480p/ 1080i. And this is going to be a huge problem unless Sony remedies this with a patch.

Yes that is a school desk with my G25 wheel. I've had it since like 1989 its the best stand for any wheel I've owned. It works perfectly with Ridge Racer 7 so far. I tried it out with GT4 but sadly doesn't work yet. I downloaded the Formula 1 demo this morning but didn't get around to trying it out yet. It'll be perfect with the paddles. And GT5 or GT HD ( which has been delayed ) better make full use of the G25. 6 speed, clutch and all.

I've had my Playseat for about 2 years now, it's been very durable and has held up very well. Some of the guys I race with online go all out and have full wooden frames built complete with $600 three pedal setups mounted upsidedown for extra realism. One guy took an old Formula Continental body and turned it into a gaming rig! For now my DFP with the Playseat is just fine for me. I got mine for like $120 on special at WalMart.com, I think they are regularly like $150?

U know I'm not entirely sure but there were instances I felt the wheel rumble a little bit. I will check again.

But yeah its fun to use compared to a Sixaxis to be honest. You let go of the throttle and turn the wheel quickly to get the car to drift and maintain it. I have Ridge Racer 6 for my 360. So this freshen up the gameplay for me at least alot.

Hey Vincent - I had to build that stand - I couldn't find a stand that was enclosed like that, not silver and glass, and big enough to fit everything I wanted.

I suppose if you went VGA from 360 to Panel it will match your screens native res.

Technically you can play games and upconvert sd dvd to 1080p using component.

here's a little comparison I made

Top = standard DVD on PS3
Bottom = Blu Ray

From the BD player forum, it is said that the PS3 outputs the black levels the same as a computer (IRE 0), IE blacker than NTSC (IRE 7). That's why the BD version is darker.

One other thing Sony needs to fix. But it should be easy, defaulting with IRE 7 but with the option of enabling IRE 0 if warranted.

I don't know how you can think the SD looks better, the colours aren't near as good and it does'nt have close to as much detail(note the hair, it melds together in DVD but you can see every single strand as one in blu Ray)

Question before I even open the box...

My Toshiba HD DVD player is set to output 1080i to my Samsung DLP (I have that 720p pedestal version, too, from earlier in the thread) and it looks WOW!

Now, does the PS3 output 1080i as well? Should I expect the same results from BD movies played in the PS3, as I receive from my HD DVD player when it sends a 1080i signal to my 720p set?

Anyone got any experience with this? THANKS!! :D

I know what you mean about liking darker blacks, i do myself also love the blacks much more than having the backlight jacked up to see every little detail, all in all, with that projector, and the ps3, i wish i were you :p

first off the BD pics you show are two blue. Second... you need to take a picture of the same frame on both BD and SD. thoese are not the same frame. So redo the pictures when the frame is the same. Also, the blacks in your BD picture are whats called crushed off to the left of her head.

Yes, it will look good. As good as any stand alone player so far. Try outputting both 720P and 1080i to see what you like best.

Yea, same in cali. I made my money in cali, sold my 900 squar foot condo and purchased a 3000 squar foot home for the same price in NC. I could not find the house I wanted in cali without spanding way to much. Need that extra cash for toys!!!

thats actually the 1080p 37" model, i love it 100% especially for the price of it ..insane.. the ONLY complaint i have right now is its issue with the ps3, with the hdmi, hopefully it can be fixed with an update (the blinking of the screen when going from xmb menu to game, or vice versa, just requires to turn the tv off then back on) other than that its 100% Grade A, A1 product....

over thanksgiving all of my family from NC, and ATL came here to visit, EVERYONE loved my tv, the tv in combination with the PS3 made my room 'the spot' there was never less than 5 people in here at a time lol, my cousin from NC got a ps3 too, and he brought his 2 controllers so we were all beastin on nba 2k7 with 2 people on each team lol....and 4 person resistance death match (mostly nba 2k7), everyone loved it my aunt even said after seeing it she wanted to get the 42" for her room she said she's gonna go home and buy one ha....i reccommend it, BUT after a ps3 update to see if it fixes that one small glitch...

Sony DVD player resides as the left-most component on the lower-tier shelf.

Pioneer 810 A/V Receiver (lil bit of age on it, but its holding its own still :) ).

Surround speakers wired through the walls when we built the house this past spring.

Just this week I've networked the house with an integrated wireless router/internet access solution via a Kyocera KR1 and presently using a Verizon EVDO card for internet access. Router didn't make it into the pics, but is resting atop the left shelves. 20GB PS3 is hardwired via ethernet connect to the KR1. A couple laptops & PSP are doin' fine via wireless. Still want to drop a couple ethernet cables for: 1) a desktop PC out in the garage for automobile service software, as well as internet connectivity for gear-heads visiting me in the garage, and 2) a desktop PC in the house to basically become a server for the networked desktop printer, but also to save all my PrOn onto...thus getting it off of my wife's laptop :o .

It is hard to tell just from pics on here, but to me your tv looks washed out. It maybe just the camera. I have a Sony GW3 RPTV LCD 788p and RFOM and Motorstorm look way better on it.

Nice how you flushed your RPTV into the wall. I did that in my previous house as well. When it came time to sell the house...I used it as an excuse to upgrade... :rolleyes: ... "Oh, hunny...if I take the TV with me there'll be a big hole left in the wall. Let's just leave it for the next folks...and I'll buy myself a new TV." :)

I really do need to add some sort of ventilation. It's an entire pantry worth of space there, but it can get warm in there. The PS3 fan has kicked in and it's NOT quiet. :rolleyes: It is audible when watching movies even with the smoked glass closed.

I got mine in October, but just had it matched at BB for just above 3 grand. Watch for weekend sales, often unadvertised...they are letting them go for GREAT prices if you are lucky.

Here's mine. It’s still a work in progress.

The PS2 and Xbox are still there because they are both chipped to unlock region coding.
I don't need the Gamecube or the vcr but have nothing better to do with the space yet. I will add an HD-DVD attachment for the 360 though.

I'm still in the process of importing a westinghouse 47 inch lcd to replace this old 36 inch toshiba.

The top shelf is for an HTPC which I'll connect when the westy arrives. Also, there are exhaust fans at he back of the cabinet to ventilate the heat.

The cabinet doors are made of speaker cloth. They conceal the components and speakers yet allow IR remote signals to pass through.

Looking at all the great pictures you guys have posted is making me impatient. I can’t wait to game in hi def!

Well, it doesn't do anything with the ps3 or the wii, but otherwise it works pretty well to replace the toshiba, receiver, monitor remotes and switch inputs properly (though with the westy lacking discrete codes for dvi1,2/hdmi; it's a bit of a pain and hit and miss)

I'm getting used to the ps3 controller for blu ray (with the harmony for volume and tv aspect ratio control) but it would be nice someday to have universal include bluetooth devices like the ps3 and wii...

Here's what I did:
- Used a tripod (very important!)
- Turned off flash
- Lowered the EV setting on the camera to -1.7. Otherwise, the highlights in TV image would start to bloom. This setting is just dependent on your particular camera. My Sony cam's auto iris tends to open up a little too much by default.

Also, I've found that it's a whole lot easier to get good shots of an LCD instead of a CRT-type TV.

Nice comparison Viper looks as if the PS3 is definitely on per with HD DVD in image quality I have been hoping this would be the case as this will be my Blu-ray player as the 20 gig is the lowest cost entry to go along with my HD-A1 not a big gamer and the games out so far don't peak any interest for me.

The PS3 does not upscale DVD's and I think it's 480p output is pretty lacking compared to what you might find out of a $60 player. Stick to your A1 for standard DVD's.

Yes, that is the HD-DVD Addon :) It was a good deal, so I got it (wanted King Kong HD-DVD also, so it was worth it to me). I plan on using it with my PC once some software becomes available.

Can't get rid of the 1995 Computer though, other than that annoying screen flickering and a slow boot up, its great, especially for regular DVD's, which to me, my X360 is not.

Maybe I need a bigger cabinet :)

I don't believe so since like you mentioned, his native res is a little higher than 1280x720. I would imagine the image is better if he just lets his display downscale and de-interlace the image.

Then again you don't have a choice with the PS3 currently. BD playback = 1080i/p

We college students tend to work our butts off during the summer. lol. Well unless you just have parents with money. But I worked my A$$ off this summer and during the last school year to save for my stuff. Well worth it.

It's kinda scary how some people are just putting the PS3 on top of another A/V equipment! Not only is this bad for ventilation, but the PS3's weight could cause some damage to sensitive equipment...

That probably explains why I have so much extra money :p
