Your AVR can't ventilate properly and will overheat. Because of this, your PS3 will also pick up the added heat and may cause an additional problem to your PS3. You may already know this, and move it off the AVR when the AVR is on. Just trying to save you a future headache and additional expense. Chodite 11-18-06, 08:19 PM You guys are killing me! BluRay movies become mute via optical audio, no sound whatsoever I watched Talladega Nights via optical cable last night. What is happening is sometimes when the unit is switching from ProLogic of the dashboard to Dolby Digital of a movie or game, it will occasionally stick in PL mode, resulting in no sound. This has happen twice for me. Once I reboot it's fine. I'll bet/hope there will be an update that fixes this. Spiff69 11-18-06, 11:05 PM Okay, I'll give this a shot - thanks for the tips. Spiff69 11-20-06, 02:07 AM spif69 where did you get your cabinet? I've been looking for one to go under my wall mounted plasma and I like the design of yours. Well, I couldn't find one I liked, so I built it. There are almost no cabinets out there that are big enough to handle my center speaker - plus most stands are open air silver and glass - just not my thing. And yeah, that broken glass is crazy, huh? Broken glass is the new water in video games. DaverJ 11-20-06, 08:29 AM Broken glass is the new water in video games. Great quote. :D Resistance does broken glass so well I'm surprised it's not in there more. From what I've notice, the first shot or two cracks it, then the next couple shots break it, and the final couple shots cause the remaining broken glass to fall out of the pane and smash to the floor. The PS3 seems to really love physics effects. Sorry, I got a little OT there. :o swifty7 11-20-06, 08:42 AM @Sonnyc79 did you use the ps3 for that pic of black hawk down? I am a dual-fanboy! BTW...I have Gears of War pics in the XBR2 owners thread...that game looks better than any game I have seen on PS3 thus far (any game PERIOD, for that matter). While I believe PS3 has a ton of potential, GOW just knocked it out the park in the visuals department. scottro 11-20-06, 10:19 AM Spiff69: Great job on the cabinet. I think I'm going to have to do something similar. Should have known it was home-made, I mean, custom...there's actually somewhere to put a center channel speaker! It's only 3.1 megapixels, but I can still get some good shots out of it. I set the camera down on my bed (TV as at the foot) and use the timer to snap a pic, so I dont have to hold the camera and risk moving it. I am not sure of the brand/model # because I am at work right now, but I will take a look at the box later and see if I can give you some more info. I think someone else has asked me about that in the past, so thanks for reminding me! briankmonkey 11-20-06, 03:45 PM SonnyC79, they actually fairly recently put up www.frys.com. I've had it since like 1989 its the best stand for any wheel I've owned. It works perfectly with Ridge Racer 7 so far. I tried it out with GT4 but sadly doesn't work yet. I downloaded the Formula 1 demo this morning but didn't get around to trying it out yet. It'll be perfect with the paddles. And GT5 or GT HD ( which has been delayed ) better make full use of the G25. 6 speed, clutch and all. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/DANKIR/Current%20Setup/IMG_2653.jpg There are more links to my home theater in my signature. I've had it since like 1989 its the best stand for any wheel I've owned. It works perfectly with Ridge Racer 7 so far. If you really want to get into the racing experience and don't want to spend time building a full setup, this is a great alternative: www.playseats.com I've had my Playseat for about 2 years now, it's been very durable and has held up very well. Some of the guys I race with online go all out and have full wooden frames built complete with $600 three pedal setups mounted upsidedown for extra realism. One guy took an old Formula Continental body and turned it into a gaming rig! For now my DFP with the Playseat is just fine for me. I got mine for like $120 on special at WalMart.com, I think they are regularly like $150? U know I'm not entirely sure but there were instances I felt the wheel rumble a little bit. I will check again. But yeah its fun to use compared to a Sixaxis to be honest. You let go of the throttle and turn the wheel quickly to get the car to drift and maintain it. I have Ridge Racer 6 for my 360. So this freshen up the gameplay for me at least alot. That's why the BD version is darker. One other thing Sony needs to fix. But it should be easy, defaulting with IRE 7 but with the option of enabling IRE 0 if warranted. fuad rtuimauga 11-24-06, 06:14 PM that projector is from the guy that I quoted :p I've got a 50" Samsung DLP tv : Originally Posted by longhorns Hey viper, to be honest i kind of like the SD dvd pic a little better, i mean on the blu ray you can't see the left half of the screen it's so dark w/o detail, am i wrong? If I'm reading Vipers post correctly then it would be my picture he is using for comparison. If so, then this is NOT a fair comparison at all. First of all it's not a good picture by any means. Second, the pic I took is on an angle cause the projector is sitting on the floor as it is not mounted permanently and the screen is just BOC. You also have to take into consideration the fact that my pic is from a 120" screen vs Vipers 50" screen. Like I said, "IF" it is my pic then this is not a true "apples to apples" comparison. I need details! thats actually the 1080p 37" model, i love it 100% especially for the price of it ..insane.. the ONLY complaint i have right now is its issue with the ps3, with the hdmi, hopefully it can be fixed with an update (the blinking of the screen when going from xmb menu to game, or vice versa, just requires to turn the tv off then back on) other than that its 100% Grade A, A1 product.... over thanksgiving all of my family from NC, and ATL came here to visit, EVERYONE loved my tv, the tv in combination with the PS3 made my room 'the spot' there was never less than 5 people in here at a time lol, my cousin from NC got a ps3 too, and he brought his 2 controllers so we were all beastin on nba 2k7 with 2 people on each team lol....and 4 person resistance death match (mostly nba 2k7), everyone loved it my aunt even said after seeing it she wanted to get the 42" for her room she said she's gonna go home and buy one ha....i reccommend it, BUT after a ps3 update to see if it fixes that one small glitch... if you need to know anything else heres a very good thread that has pictures, and all the information about the tv you could possibly need... http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1088497 vwbeetlvr 11-27-06, 11:31 PM http://gallery.avsforum.com/data/501/DSCN1778.JPG http://gallery.avsforum.com/data/501/DSCN1772.JPG http://gallery.avsforum.com/data/501/DSCN1773.JPG http://gallery.avsforum.com/data/501/DSCN1775.JPG http://gallery.avsforum.com/data/501/DSCN1776.JPG Viper98 11-28-06, 04:23 AM here's a few pics of the LAIR downloadable trailer they are smaller cuz I formatted them for another forum and am to lazy to resize and reupload them again http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-21.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-16-1.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-20.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-14.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-13.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-15-1.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-18-1.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-17-1.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/360picsoffmyhdtv/Untitled-19.jpg Bio-Hansen 11-28-06, 07:02 AM @ Crippler_HD How many " are you television? sbarrier 11-28-06, 01:21 PM Yea, same in cali. Then to the right of the PS3 there's the TiVo DVR ;)...mentioned that already. To the right of the TiVo DVR, a RCA [gasp!] VCR :D Sony DVD player resides as the left-most component on the lower-tier shelf. Pioneer 810 A/V Receiver (lil bit of age on it, but its holding its own still :) ). Eh...bottom right lower-tier is a VCR cassette rewinder  Surround speakers wired through the walls when we built the house this past spring. Just this week I've networked the house with an integrated wireless router/internet access solution via a Kyocera KR1 and presently using a Verizon EVDO card for internet access. Router didn't make it into the pics, but is resting atop the left shelves. 20GB PS3 is hardwired via ethernet connect to the KR1. A couple laptops & PSP are doin' fine via wireless. Still want to drop a couple ethernet cables for: 1) a desktop PC out in the garage for automobile service software, as well as internet connectivity for gear-heads visiting me in the garage, and 2) a desktop PC in the house to basically become a server for the networked desktop printer, but also to save all my PrOn onto...thus getting it off of my wife's laptop :o . dusemike 11-29-06, 10:30 PM my setup kd34xbr960 xbox360-nintendo wii-ps2-xbox-gamecube-dreamcast-hd dvr box and a 400w dvd system...... ps3 soon pomerator 12-01-06, 01:31 AM looking for a tv to go with my ps3 choices are kdl-40v2500, kdl-40xbr2, sammy ln-s4095d,and westinghouse lvm-37w3, not sure which to go with any suggestions? Well, it doesn't do anything with the ps3 or the wii, but otherwise it works pretty well to replace the toshiba, receiver, monitor remotes and switch inputs properly (though with the westy lacking discrete codes for dvi1,2/hdmi; it's a bit of a pain and hit and miss) I'm getting used to the ps3 controller for blu ray (with the harmony for volume and tv aspect ratio control) but it would be nice someday to have universal include bluetooth devices like the ps3 and wii... No matter what I do they look like crap. I have a 10mp casio pocket cam. HELP Here's what I did: - Used a tripod (very important!) - Turned off flash - Lowered the EV setting on the camera to -1.7. Otherwise, the highlights in TV image would start to bloom. This setting is just dependent on your particular camera. My Sony cam's auto iris tends to open up a little too much by default. Also, I've found that it's a whole lot easier to get good shots of an LCD instead of a CRT-type TV. The PS3 does not upscale DVD's and I think it's 480p output is pretty lacking compared to what you might find out of a $60 player. Stick to your A1 for standard DVD's. slick316 12-17-06, 10:56 PM Pics of the dusty PS3 and where it rests currently (need to figure out a way to fit all that crap in the cabinet): http://homepage.mac.com/mitul316/.Pictures/IMG_0221.JPG http://homepage.mac.com/mitul316/.Pictures/IMG_0220.JPG aaronwt 12-18-06, 01:19 AM I didn't realize the 60GB version had that silver strip. You won't take a hit in the PQ department but maybe the Sound department. Then you can put the PS3 where the computer was. ;) EDIT: Is that the HD-DVD Addon? I didn't see it at first. Yes, that is the HD-DVD Addon :) It was a good deal, so I got it (wanted King Kong HD-DVD also, so it was worth it to me). I plan on using it with my PC once some software becomes available. Can't get rid of the 1995 Computer though, other than that annoying screen flickering and a slow boot up, its great, especially for regular DVD's, which to me, my X360 is not. Maybe I need a bigger cabinet :) JohnMadden 12-18-06, 12:02 PM lol I worked all summer to save up for a lcd and ps3 Ragnarok 12-18-06, 01:44 PM ^ Wow, that's pretty drastic. Being that the Pioneer's native res is 768p, wouldn't it be better to set the the output resolution of the attached peripherals 720p instead of 1080i? TwinTurboJosh 12-18-06, 03:57 PM PioManiac, awesome pictures, but I do have a question. Being that the Pioneer's native res is 768p, wouldn't it be better to set the the output resolution of the attached peripherals 720p instead of 1080i? I don't believe so since like you mentioned, his native res is a little higher than 1280x720. I would imagine the image is better if he just lets his display downscale and de-interlace the image. Then again you don't have a choice with the PS3 currently. BD playback = 1080i/p Management 12-18-06, 04:16 PM How in the world are you college students able to afford all this nice equipment?
