Now it's a Feb 2007 release. :P

I also read today that Rainbow Six Vegas for the PS3 was also delayed to 2007 as well. Kind of odd. Thats 2 games that are now out, looking and playing great, on the Xbox 360. But yet, the PS3 versions are delayed a fairly long time. Either they are getting upgrades or more stuff, or there might really be something to the whole "PS3 is harder to code for" talk thats going around. Not that I'm really concerned. Both are out now on 360, and are top notch.

It is worth the wait! The XBOX360 version is fantastic. Assume the PS3 will be the same. Great game. SJ

I imagine the delays have more to do with marketing reasons than technical ones.

Since they already missed out on Launch monies, it makes sense to delay until theres even enough consoles to justify the release.

Both games will be worth the wait, especially Oblivion.

You think?? Something tells me that by the time Oblivion comes out for PS3, enough people just aren't going to care. Regardless of whether they can get a console or not. You are talking about a FULL YEAR between the 360 release and the PS3 release. Something tells me that its just not going to help. Even if you held off from getting a 360 to wait for the PS3, the game is going to be well past its "relevancy" window.

Think of it this way, if they released G.R.A.W. on the PS3 at the same time they do Oblivion, would you care?? Those both came out in March of this year. Come March of 2007, are enough people still going to care?? We'll see when that time comes. But, I personally don't think people will care that much.

This isn't just a PS3 problem though. The same thing can be said for Half Life 2 on the 360. Now sure, when it comes out, you are going to get all the add-ons and episodes to go with it (as will Oblivion on PS3). But really, that game came out AGES ago. I really doubt that many people are going to care enough to buy that in big numbers.

I understand wanting to give gamers on different platforms the same game, so they can experience it. But, once you hit that certain time frame past initial launch, when the shock and awe wears off, to me it just doens't seem to add up.

Oblivion looks better on the PC. The 360 and PS3 just can't have all the eye candy up like the PC can.

Thus confirming what everyone has known for some time.

I don't think anyone will argue the fact that games, when released on both high-end consoles and the PC, will ultimately look better on the PC. The consoles look very good. I mean, FEAR, Oblivion, and Far Cry, to name a few, all look great on the consoles. But, if you have the firepower required for those games on PC, and can turn all the effects and resolution up, they will look better. Thats a given.

But, for a $400-600 machine, the consoles do put up a great fight. I doubt many people will argue that fact either.

lol. That is no longer PS3-exclusive.

It actually came out about 2 months ago for the 360.

One thing about oblivion, it will be the best game of its type until the next one comes from bethesda. I personally can't see it selling any ps3s, and I won't be buying it (all ready played on pc and moved on).

As long as it is available in march with everything else it should be fine imo.

The game looks great on 360, I don't have a PC to run it so 360 and PS3 is the only way to go for me.

PC version of the Game is better then the X360 and PS3 only if you have high end PC. bethesda said that the PS3 will be 1080p.

now , back to the delay, it was said that the PS3 version has a problem with frame rates. it is now as fast as it should be. the reason for the lower rates is because they are doing it in 1080p. I don't know how they are going about it, they might as well drop the 1080p deal and do it 720p and this will solve the problem. however, for me, I am not going to buy it simply because I have played in my PC and I really don't like it a lot.

Well since the PS3 does not have an internal scaler, they HAVE to make it run in 1080p so that 1080i-only TV owners can play the game in high def.

It's really a shame and it puts a lot of pressure on the developers not having an internal scaler. I can play Oblivion on the 360 in 1080p. Sure, it's not rendered in 1080p, but it looks fantastic on a 1080p set regardless. And it doesn't remove effects to make it happen, which will have to happen on most 1080p PS3 games.

I'm sorry, what effects are being removed? Strictly speaking of Oblivion, the developer is actually working to improve the graphics, last I heard. Example being the LOD on the horizon.

Yes, they are adding graphics to the 720p version of the game. But since the PS3 does not have a scaler, in order to make a game run in 1080i, they have to effectively make it run in 1920x1080 resolution.

That's not very easy to do, and it's a guarantee that on a huge game like Oblivion, some effects will be removed to get it to smoothly work at that super-high resolution.

A scaler would simply take the 720p game and upconvert it to 1080i/p with no loss in graphics. Sony is a fool for not including one in their system.

That is what I meant by pressure on developers. It's now up to them to create a game that will be compatible with all television users, instead of simply having hardware that does it for them like the 360.

Uh, no. It's an additional faction quest. BTW, the Knights of the Nine content is already released on the Xbox 360 and the PC as downloadable content.

No suprise that it is delayed, the developers clearly don't want it to "feel" like a port.
