View Full Version : Panny DMR-EH75 TVG Issues
TechGator 11-23-06, 12:18 AM Bought a EH75 back in August. The TV Guide worked perfectly for the first 3 weeks. Then, it started losing the listings. Every other day when I hit TV Guide on the remote, it goes to the setup screen and saids that the unit is picking up two sources. One is Comcast Cable (which I am a subscriber), the other is Bellsouth which I wasn't even aware they were in the cable business. Have to repick the Comcast and leave the unit off for a day, then the listings reappears. It will be fine for a few days, then happens all over again: listings lost, setup screen appears, repick Comcast. Had to do this for over two weeks then, magically, this problem disappear for the next two weeks. This week the same problem is reoccuring again.
I had called Panny tech support during the first occurance and they told me to do a reset which it didn't help. From reading thru this forum, I am afraid to call the tech guys back again. Anyone out there have a possible solution? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
jraleigh 01-16-07, 01:53 PM This seems to be a problem affecting different models of the pansonic units. I have a dmr-eh55 model with the exact same symptoms. After working initially now my program guide reads listings pending with no tv guide information. I have not reflashed to the latest firmware since it seems to only improve the ir blaster functionality. Curious to see if others are experiencing the same problem or if others have solved the problem. I have gone thru setup on multiple occassions with no luck.

I had issues with losing the TVGOS data each day with both my EH55 and my EH75. I posted on two other threads how I found a work around. Simply put, when I called Panny cs they told me there were issues with the TVGOS transmission into these new units using new TVGOS siftware from earlier Panny modelswith some cable companies. He said the cable cos were fixing it on a rolling basis.
So I simply reset the TVGOS using different ZIP codes from neighboring cities serviced by my cable co until I found one that worked. Now going on almost a month, I haven't had one issue, plus at least two ther AVS forum members that I know of have also used this successfully.
jraleigh 01-16-07, 06:56 PM Thanks I will try that tonight.
CT_Wiebe 01-17-07, 02:33 PM The EH75 manual states that the TVGOS is set up for DirecTV and may not work for cable connections. It sounds like Breyean's work-around may be your only solution.

I don't think that's the issue. I was able to set up the unit (as well as my EH55) using my RF input from my cable. The problem comes up during an upload of the TVGOS which wipes all preset timer recordings using the TVGOS (recordings set manually were unaffected) and the TVGOS listings themselves.
For me and a couple of others on these boards, this occurred on pretty much a daily basis, meaning we had to go through the TVGOS setup again, meaning we couldn't use the TVGOS pretty much at all.
After speaking with Panny cs, I'm pretty sure the issue has to do with the newer TVGOS software in the EH75 and EH55 because I've never had any such problem with my E500 or even my EH50. The new software pulls some different station feeds (such as TBS west) which I had never gotten on my older units, and interestingly, there are no ads on screen when I'm in the TVGOS.
guardrail 01-28-07, 01:37 PM once a recording is on the HDD, is there a way to copy it off to some media in AVI format so I can directly edit it on my computer?
vferrari 01-28-07, 02:19 PM No, it can only be recorded in mpeg2 to disc as a VR mode disc (DVD-RAM, the file showing up as a VRO file) or Video mode disc (DVD-R, -RW, +R) with the file(s) showing up as vob files in a standard DVD video mode disc file structure. You must then use a program that can rip the mpeg2 to your HDD and edit/manipulate it from there.
For VR mode, TMPGenc DVD Author is a good program with VR mode support also VideoStudio 10.
For video mode you can use any ripping program such as DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink and then edit it using various mpeg2 editors.

guardrail 01-28-07, 11:19 PM tried vieo redo and go error that it doesn't support MPEG audio layer 1
will keep looking
vferrari 01-29-07, 12:38 AM Mpeg Audio Layer 1??? Why does that matter? Any recordings made on the EH75V (I assume that's what you are using since that is the heading of this thread, though you never specifically posted what equipment you are using) use either PCM audio or Dolby Digital 2.0 aka AC3. No mpeg audio layer 1 streams should ever be recorded on the EH75V. Some cheaper DVD recorders record audio stream to non-standard mpeg audio layer 2 (i.e., mp2) but not mp1. Can you shed more light on your issues?
guardrail 01-29-07, 09:35 AM recorded material has been burned to DVD+r on my EH75 then inserted into DVD drive on computer. Called up VideoReDo and attempt to open actual video file.
Error message reads
Unable to open E:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB MPEG audio layer 1 is not supported
ImTOO DVD Ripper works but will only run for 5 minutes on the trial version. It wrote the file but the Panasonic Editing program can use whats written so I need to find a codec that is AVI specific. That has to wait until after my business trip.
forkart 02-05-07, 05:20 AM Try using yasa video converter to convert vob. It can work properly.
