I have searched and tried to find the answer, but it seems I am more confused than ever. I have rope lighting around a projector screen and am wanting to use my harmony 880 to turn the lights on and off with my 880. I would also like to have a dimming feature also if possible. The rope light is the only thing I want to control. The rope light is the only thing plugged into the outlet. Can someone please help me and let me know exactly what I need to order for this? Hi, I am new to the forums but I think I can help you out. There might be different ways of going about this but the main one that sticks in my head is to get yourself a lamp dimmer that can be controlled using Infrared. The only company that I really know of that offers one of these is Lutron.

Because I am new here I can't post a direct link to the product I am talking about so go to google and search for SPS-300LD-RP. The product name is Spacer System SPS-300LD-RP 300 Watt Incandescent / Halogen 120 V Table Lamp Dimmer.

What you need to do is plug the Spacer System Lamp Dimmer into the wall and then plug your rope lights into the Dimmer. Once you do that the 880 will be able to communicate with the rope lights and control them via IR.

That would probably work. I got a lutron light switch dimmer (maestro) that comes with a remote and the Harmony controls it perfectly. If you can put your outlet on a wall switch it would do the trick. Got mine at Home Depot.

Would this work with the 720 as well? Anything that would allow you to control a light switch and not just a lamp?
