View Full Version : Anybody else go crazy at Buy.com with $20 off $50 Google checkout?
krinkle 11-25-06, 05:25 PM Wow this is a great deal. I just placed 7 separate orders with buy.com using Google checkout.
Blue rays are priced at Buy.com in two tiers, $30 and $20, so this works out perfectly. I just selected one from each pricing tier and then took off $20 with Google checkout. Then repeated for 7 different orders.
I have 14 new blu-ray movies on the way to me for about $15.70 each :D :D :p
This will take my collection up to 21 titles since I got my PS3 from Japan, yay!
Anybody else do this??
Brajesh 11-25-06, 08:00 PM I didn't go that crazy ;), but placed 3 separate orders of Blu-rays & HD DVDs. Yep, great deal!
tlreddragon 11-25-06, 08:06 PM Tried to. They don't let you use it on preorders so that leaves us with just a couple of crappy titles and the only two I really want (Monster House and Lord of War) are both just below $30 which is frustrating.
Omegasaber 11-25-06, 09:59 PM Didn't go crazy either, but did order Underworld: Evolution and Ice Age: The Meltdown. If I think of anything else soon I might put another order in.
Rakesh.S 11-25-06, 10:24 PM someone over at anotehr forum received an email from google for abusing the $20 off. IIRC, the email said "this offer was not designed to be taken advantage of by resellers" or somethign like that.
If you get anything like that, please post. I bought one game using the coupon - don't really need anything else.
Gary Murrell 11-25-06, 10:30 PM I went crazy and will continue too ;)
how can you go wrong when you get Speed BR and Waterworld HD for 31$ shipped

I'm waiting for a job before I could go crazy on this deal. Hopefully it'll be on for a while.

rover2002 11-26-06, 12:10 AM Do they ship outside of the U.S?
ta.
BlackRiderX 11-26-06, 12:17 AM I'm over 50 orders lol.
The Blu-ray titles on Buy.com are cleverly priced. Usually 27 and 20, so you're usually under the $50 limit.
What I do is add a cheapie CD for $3-5 incl. shipping, so I get two new Blu-ray titles and a cheapie CD for $31-32 after Google's discount. Not too shabby...
By the way...anyone know how long Google's discount will last?
Looks like I'm going have to go crazy at Buy.com, too. Thanks for the tips!
swifty7 11-26-06, 08:09 AM I want to go crazy and I don't even have a hd-dvd player.
Greg_63 11-26-06, 12:36 PM Thanks for the heads up. I saved a bunch of money. Got HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies. Don't have a Blu-Ray player yet but I'm going to get a PS3 for that because there are more "good" movies for Blu-Ray.
heavyharmonies 11-26-06, 01:24 PM I couldn't go nuts because my credit card is dangerously near maximum density, but I did pick up a few (prices are net shipped after discount):
Order 1:
Wild $19.16
Stargate $12.74
Order 2:
Kingdom of Heaven $19.15
Total Recall $12.74
Order 3 (For music fans):
Black Crowes-Freak N Roll-Into the Fog $12.71
Toto-Live in Amsterdam-25th Anniversary $12.71
Cooper A-Alice Cooper-Live At Montreux 2005 $12.71
tlreddragon 11-26-06, 02:22 PM Don't have a Blu-Ray player yet but I'm going to get a PS3 for that because there are more "good" movies for Blu-Ray.
Maybe in opposite land!

You're both wrong! No, wait, you're both right!.... ahh, heck.
Seriously though, that opinion is seriously going to vary from person to person, depending on which movies you like. There is no right or wrong answer.

Exactly. I'm not interested in most of the HD-DVD movies that are out but I am interested in many of the Blu-Ray movies. Both look much better then DVD's and they bring out the best in my HDTV. With an HD-A2 and a PS3 I can watch any movie that I want to. In the mean time my HD-DVD Xbox add-on will hold me over until my A2 and PS3 come in December. December is going to be an expensive month :D

Well, getting Waterworld is pretty bad, by itself!
/carmi
Brajesh 11-27-06, 09:34 AM It isn't a bad movie. It got a bad rap from critics, but it's actually pretty fun.
IeraseU 11-27-06, 10:22 AM Thanks for the heads up guys....I wasn't aware of this deal until I found this thread. I picked up 2 movies, Kingdom of Heaven and XXX. I'm new to the Blu-ray format via PS3.
William Mapstone 11-27-06, 11:25 AM Thanks for the heads up, I bought Aeon Flux and MI3 for about $16 each. After the PS3 mail in rebate it will be even cheaper.:)
Unfortunately I live in MA so they charge you tax (before the coupon, that sux). But it still comes out good if you buy the right thing.
Good way to use your PS3 coupons.
ckenisell 11-27-06, 11:59 AM Nice, I just bought Training Day, Behind Enemy Lines, Swordfish and Ice Age-Meltdown for $15.93 a piece.
NICE CATCH!!!

Yeah, I would say I went a little nuts.
I spent $165.22 for a total of 10 Blu-ray titles; total average price for each was $15.02 (remember FREE shipping; no tax in NY).
But these are the first Blu-ray titles I order for my new PS3, so I needed to start a collection somewhere eventually... I would've ordered more, but I wasn't too interested anything else.
Here are the titles I got (separate orders so I could get the $20 off $50):
Kingdom of Heaven & S.W.A.T.
Ice Age 2 & Tears of the Sun
Into the Blue & Behind Enemy Lines
Eight Below & Superman Returns
Stealth & Underworld Evolution
Most of these titles cost $28-$32 so $15 a pop was a killer deal for me.
JimmyWang214 11-27-06, 03:02 PM I can't get free shipping :(
JimmyWang214 11-27-06, 03:18 PM Everyone gets FREE shipping on Blu-ray titles...
You just have to select Budget Shipping before placing your order:

Anyone have problems with order confirmations from Buy.com not showing up? I placed an order >60mins ago and got the Google Checkout confirmation just fine, but I still haven't gotten confirmation from Buy.com, and if I search for the order it says it's not there.

- Google Checkout orders are not available in your Buy.com account order history (if you have an existing Buy.com account).
- Google Checkout promotions (Example: $10 off a $30 purchase) display only on your Google receipt. Your Buy.com order receipt shows the reduced price but not the discounted amount.

Dot50Cal 11-27-06, 11:43 PM Awesome.
Order 1:
Underworld Evolution
The Last Samurai
Order 2:
Kingdom of Heaven
Black Hawk Down
Thanks for the info!
Used the $20 off $50 on 2 BD movies...via Google Checkout....BUT
I have noticed that processing takes much longer than usual... I have ordered from Buy.com many times before using regular checkout, and always had quick processing, and verification that things have shipped. Maybe it's just this order, but was wondering if others had received their orders yet.
I too have noticed it takes longer for an order to be shipped when processed through Google checkout. I don't mind though as my week is usually busy as it is. I placed two orders:
#1 KoH
Terminator 2
#2 Ice Age 2: Meltdown
Superman BR
I already have Superman Return BR and of course Taladega Nights which came with my PS3.
heavyharmonies 11-28-06, 08:26 PM Feh. Not only is the $20 off $50 not good on preorders, it's also not good on discs that are out of stock. Tonight I wanted to get the Superman Returns HD-DVD with this deal, but buy.com is sold out.
Instead I snagged Enemy of the State and Blackhawk Down BRs...
Damn is their free shipping slow! I haven't had any orders I placed shipped. Anyone else?
krinkle 11-29-06, 04:41 PM Damn is their free shipping slow! I haven't had any orders I placed shipped. Anyone else?
I started placing orders on Nov. 24th and finally today the first 3 movies shipped. (11 movies to go) I was starting to worry but looks like it is just going to be really, really slow.
Oh well, don't mind too much because the price is so cheap. :)
Ordered
T2
Devils Rejects
Good Night and Good Luck
$14.06 each
UNREAL! I don't care if it takes 3 weeks to get here, at that price I can WAIT! :D
capitan56 11-29-06, 08:07 PM I took advantage of this deal as well...I just got my ps3 and started my blu-ray collection and some ps3 games at 45 shipped!!! 7 orders in total so far!
Damn is their free shipping slow! I haven't had any orders I placed shipped. Anyone else?
YES- super SLOW!!! I placed my orders 5 days ago and it still says "SENT TO WAREHOUSE"...... still waiting.
My regular Buy.com orders usually arrive on my doorstep (using FREE SHIPPING) in 2 days.
krinkle 11-30-06, 02:12 PM Hey guys, my other 11 movies just shipped :)
So it took them 6 days from when I placed my orders until they shipped everything. Really not that bad for brand new $15 blu-ray movies!!
Brajesh 11-30-06, 03:45 PM 5 of my 6 have shipped, all separately. The 6th, 'Speed' BD still shows in stock, but hasn't shipped yet even though that is my oldest order. Buy.com probably gives lowest priority to Google orders, especially ones w/budget shipping.
metalsaber 11-30-06, 04:50 PM Got my PS3 today. You bet your sweet butt I'll be using this!!!!
William Mapstone 11-30-06, 07:53 PM Do they send you an email when they ship, or do you need to check the status of your order on their site?
WriteSimple 11-30-06, 10:27 PM Do they send you an email when they ship, or do you need to check the status of your order on their site?
Yes on the first question, and yes on the second, if you want to.
I think the slowdown is due to the fact that more people are using Buy.com now to buy stuff with Google Checkout. When I ordered mine, it was "processing" for about half a day, "Sent To Warehouse" for 1 day, and "Shipped" in 1 day. And the next day it arrived. :D
Don't complain much if you're not going to pay for the express service and shipping!

necrolop 12-05-06, 02:26 AM Sweet stuff. Made 5 orders, 11 Blu-rays.
GeorgeLV 12-05-06, 03:07 AM Do they send you an email when they ship, or do you need to check the status of your order on their site?
They'll email you when they ship, but their budget shipping can be extraordinarily slow. I'm still waiting for 3 HD-DVDs that were supposedly shipped on 11/22. If they don't show up in tomorrows mail, I'm going to have to call them.
Dot50Cal 12-05-06, 06:31 AM Funny, Black Hawk Down just arrived yesterday. Not too bad for free shipping! I expect the next two to arrive today and then tommorow the next two ;)
Mad Maximus 12-05-06, 08:25 AM Thanks for the heads up!
I got Kingdom Of Heaven & Enemy Of The State for my PS3 and saved $20 :)
metalsaber 12-05-06, 08:40 AM Just ordered The Mummy and Ice Age 2. I've ordered 6 other movies in the past week as well.
CRAZY FOR ME TOO!
10 different orders. LOL

That's if you feel it's worth it to destroy the artwork by cutting off the UPC labels from the back of the covers. I really hope they'll change their requirements on this.
ckenisell 12-06-06, 10:34 AM That's if you feel it's worth it to destroy the artwork by cutting off the UPC labels from the back of the covers. I really hope they'll change their requirements on this.
This actually kinda sucks. But also note that it's not the UPC you have to cut out, it's the proof of purchase (which is actually a much small box). It's about half the size of a dime.
Personally, I don't want to have to cut them up, but with the printed paper being behind the plastic sleeve, it won't really harm the functionality of the paper and, even though we like to consider ourselves collectors, these aren't comic books. They do not decrease in monetary value just because a little tiny box has been cut from the artwork.
If you're really concerned about the sloppiness of it all, use an exacto-knife and a ruler to make really clean, straight cuts. That seems to be the best way to do it.
Great -- $499 for a PS3 and now I have to go out and spend $4.99 on an exacto!!!
ckenisell 12-06-06, 10:51 AM I suppose you don't have to get your $10 rebate for each Blu-Ray you buy from a different studio. ;)
Dahlsim 12-06-06, 03:03 PM Thanks. Placed my 1st order. That's a great way to buy almost on convenience alone.
GeorgeLV 12-06-06, 03:23 PM ^^ Good luck on waiting for them to actually arrive. A 3 HD-DVDs of mine that "shipped" on 11/22 are still in Kentucky and my Smallville S5 HD-DVD is mysteriously "on order" once I've purchased it even though the website still insists that it's in-stock: ships in 1-2 business days.
I think from now on I'll gladly pay the premium for Amazon, where my greatest worry is whether an item will arrive before the scheduled ship date.

Hey! You too? :D
Decided to order my first two blu-ray's through this deal (other than the free Talladega Nights that came with the PS3)
Mission Impossible 3 and Terminater 2 combined price $51.98, Google discount ($20.00), PS3 rebates ($20.00) -- net price $11.98 or $5.99 each.
Can't beat that deal.

UGH! I totally agree. Never free shipping again.
I ordered my (IN STOCK) BluRay movies 2 WEEKS AGO. Still has not arrived yet.
Next time I will pay the $4 for standard shipping (I buy from buy.com all the time, and usually arrives in 2 days!)
I've gone absolutely bonkers with this deal. Figuring out all sorts of combos to maximize savings. All in all I'm at 25 orders, spent 958.67 with an average order size of 38.35 and a savings of 500.00
 :D
well do share your combos :)

It seems like they've caught on to the flood in HD-DVD/Blu-ray orders. Several items are $10-20 more expensive than they were last week.

Here's a few (BD and HD-DVD)--i already own alot of the titles in HD--most of my orders were for SD television series and games. All prices are before 20.00 off.
Into the Blue
Enemy of the State

Training Day

WriteSimple 12-06-06, 10:22 PM There's also the fact that it is the Christmas season to consider. If you opt for free shipping, your shipment will be relegated to the back of the line. And with the volume of orders to be filled, it is going to take some time.

Kid Red 12-07-06, 04:59 PM Anyone get their order yet? I ordered 3 movies and only received 1. Would/are they shipping movies separately? Buy.com has not answered two emails of mine.
I'm nervous to order any more.
metalsaber 12-07-06, 05:22 PM I had 2 orders that were placed on Nov 30. On Dec 5, I emailed them asking the status of those orders. They never responded, but within an hour, they showed as shipped and I received emails stating both orders shipped.
This is the first problem with them
Kid Red 12-07-06, 05:42 PM Did you order ship complete as each movie separately? That's why I'm concerned. If I get the second movie in a day or two I'll calm down and just deal with the puzzlement of shipping three movies separately.
heavyharmonies 12-07-06, 06:13 PM Buy.com is wonky on their shipping. Of 13 HD-DVDs and BRs I've ordered, 11 supposedly have been shipped. I've received 3 thus far... each one in a separate mailer, and 2 of the 3 were the same order.
Weird.
Kid Red 12-07-06, 07:49 PM Thanks for confirming that they do indeed ship separately. I just checked and amazon.com has better prices with free shipping the google discount barely makes it even. I'd rather deal with amazon than buy.com.

I know media mail is slow, but it hasn't even been shuffled around yet. It's getting ridiculous.
ckenisell 12-08-06, 07:13 PM I knew media mail was slow, but THIS slow?
I also understand that they are coming from different places, but common. If 1 BD ships one day before the other three, you'd think the other three would arrive one day after the single BD. Of course, that's using regular logic so you know it's gotta be wrong in todays world.
Broccoli 12-08-06, 10:16 PM I ordered 3, 2 have shipped on the 1st and 2nd, nothing has arrived. :(
Yeah, it takes forever. I had 5 BDs show up today, some that "supposedly" shipped 2 weeks ago.
Either way, I don't care, because after the Google Checkout Discount+Sony $10 rebate coupon some of them will end up costing me like $10.:D
ckenisell 12-09-06, 01:30 PM Yeah, I figured they would take a while before anybody posted it took a while. I was simply posting my results so that other would know what to expect.

Dan Hitchman 12-10-06, 02:03 PM Luckily, I only had them ship Speed to me. The rest I ordered through Amazon and their extra 10% off deal.
Dan
I expeceted it would arrive slow once shipped, however I did not expect is would take forever to ship! I ordered MI3 and T2 on Wednesday. T2 shipped Friday, MI3 is still "Sent to Warehouse"! Did anyone else order MI3, if so did it ship yet?

curtishd 12-12-06, 11:25 AM People who have gotten thier orders: Did you shipping info ever change from this: Status: Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at X:XX am on November XX, 2006 in HEBRON, KY 41048. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later?
I am waiting but nothing other than this message.
Yes the status changes to something that states it has reached your local sorting faclity and then has left said facility. After talking to BUY.com they said you should expect your order in no more than NINE BUSINESS days from the time you see it arrived in KY shipping center.
As for me, I ordered 3 discs, 2 arrived, one I expect tomorrow. Funniest thing is this:
It says they tried to deliver the 2 discs this morning at 9:01 am, no one was available, and the discs may be "returned to sender if not picked up".
HOWEVER, the mailman just left a while ago (Noon time) and he gave them to me along with the rest of my daily mail. WTF!?!?!? That tracking info BLOWS.
I will totally use Buy.com for this amazing discount, but will never again opt for free shipping. I will spend the extra $5, in turn receive $15 off essentially, and be happier for it.
Still, the discs arrived, and for less than $15 each. Cool.
metalsaber 12-12-06, 03:26 PM Anyone know how long this deal is going to last?
Rumor is Dec 13 will be the last day.

I ordered 4 movies from them. 3 arrived fine (well 2 did, 1 had a broken case -- didn't care because it was a part of the case that didn't matter) and one arrived on the wrong format.
Trying to get an RMA number from them was like trying to cut my nails with a chainsaw. Although they are sending me a packing slip so I don't have pay for shipping (which made me happy and I wasn't really expecting that, but it's been like 2 weeks since I first requested an RMA number). I'm not sure the buy.com/googlecheckout thing was worth it -- I like google checkout, but this was not exactly the best experience.
This was the first time in the ~8 or so years of consistently ordering stuff online that I've ever received the wrong product. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I was kind of shocked.
plasmabuyer 12-12-06, 06:05 PM oooooh..... this is addictive!!! I have been going to buy.com's site every day and have been buying something or the other tech trinkets ;). I bought Resistance - FOM yesterday and today a new wireless router!! Somebody please stop me .....
Bah I wish they would change Kung Fu Hustle's status to in stock
Wolf Camera has a similar deal going with google checkout. This is the banner posted on their site now that says the deal ends 12/19:
http://a1672.g.akamai.net/7/1672/116/20061201/www.ritzcamera.com/graphics/ritzcamera/homepage/google-pp-112306_wc.gif
Don't know if the same applies to buy.com
ckenisell 12-13-06, 09:32 AM Hmmm...If it ends on the 19th, I had better buy The Sopranos on the 19th. Pearl Harbor too. By the way, I updated my post above to reflect that I received my last disc (Ice Age Meltdown) yesterday.
I finally got my last BD yesterday, so I went ahead and purchased some more DVD box sets that were on sale. Some amazing deals to be had there.
Greg_63 12-13-06, 12:11 PM Some amazing deals to be had there.
Those amazing deals can get expensive!
I received Terminator 2 yesterday, but Mission Impossible 3 has still not shipped (ordered last Wednesday).
The status of Mission Impossible III is now "On Order" for me. Has anyone else had this on any of their purchases.
I have e-mailed buy.com and am awaiting a response. I wonder if I can substitute another movie for this one if it is going to be a long wait.

Yep, they did that on the Smallville Season 5 HD-DVD set to me. It still says in stock on the product page.
Broccoli 12-14-06, 01:18 AM 2 weeks tomorrow and still nothing this is slower than DDD. I didn't think that would be possible.
GeorgeLV 12-14-06, 01:23 AM 2 weeks tomorrow and still nothing this is slower than DDD. I didn't think that would be possible.
My saga is finally over. My HD-DVD order on 11/21 that "shipped" on 11/22 finally showed up in my mailbox. So I guess 7-9 days really means a little over 3 weeks.
FrankJ.Cone 12-14-06, 09:01 AM I bought my first two BR disks with this deal. I probably would not have even with the google deal if not for the Sony $10 rebates. The combo deal was too good to resist though since one title we have not seen (World Trade Center) and the other is a family B-Movie favorite. (Underworld: Evolution).
curtishd 12-14-06, 06:23 PM I will never buy again from buy.com as I got my MI3 blu-ray but I got a SD Superman returns. This si after waiting just over 2 weeks for a 7-9 day delivery. NEVER AGAIN!

Did you happen to check the web site to verify that you selected the blu-ray version?
I've bought 40 Philip K Dick books, and about 20 Stanislaw Lem books through that discount, but I guess that's not really what this thread is about. ;)
But I've bought 8-10 HD-DVDs since they started with the $20 off $50, so it is a pretty awesome deal. Shipping speeds have ranged from good to great for me, using the free shipping method.
m1fuller68 12-15-06, 07:20 AM I bought the xbox 360 HD DVD add on but didn't receive an email confirmation. I just checked my credit card and it has been charged. I used the google check out just like before and recieved a purchase acknowledgement but not this time. Anyone else have this happend with buy.com and google check out?
curtishd 12-15-06, 11:28 AM Did you happen to check the web site to verify that you selected the blu-ray version?
I sure did. The two covers are the same and I am sure buy.com sent me the two disc version DVD because someone packaging the movies did not know the difference.
BlackRiderX 12-15-06, 03:03 PM I sure did. The two covers are the same and I am sure buy.com sent me the two disc version DVD because someone packaging the movies did not know the difference.
I had the same thing happen with Glory Road, except they sent me a fullscreen dvd. Just send it back.

Hmmm...That sucks. Sorry to hear that.
maximum360 12-15-06, 05:38 PM I ordered MI3 and Superman Returns on 11/28. They still haven't arrived yet. When I check USPS I got this:
Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at 11:50 AM on December 1, 2006 in HEBRON, KY 41048.
I called buy.com today after finding their telephone number on fatwallet. They claim to have no further info and it will take a max of 3-5 business days to resolve the issue (either a refund or replacement of items stuck in postal service purgatory).
I ordered Resistance: Fall of man on 12/6 and it arrived 12/12. Something's not right.
palmeiro 12-15-06, 06:39 PM Yeah, your item is at a "blackhole" called Hebron, KY. One of my package was there for over a week. And then next thing you know, it was in my state. So I think it's just not updated at KY... but probably it gets moved. Slowly though. Now another package of mine is stuck at the blackhole. I never wanted to visit Kentucky before... but after having these problems, I am curious to see how they actually handle things in Hebron.
plasmabuyer 12-15-06, 06:51 PM I'm in the same boat as a lot of you - some items shipped, some are still being PO'ed at their Vendors, some I have received.
All in all if you have the stomach to take crap from Buy.com then this is the best deal out there. I know after making multiple purchases thru them along with purchases from Amazon.com, I can honestly say that if Amazon is a Class A and I'd rate buy.com a C-.
Also for all those who are ordering with Google's checkout promotion - FORGET PRICE MATCHING!!!! I learned the hard way :(. So keep your purchases around $50 and be happy.
Huh...turtle shipping, eh?
Screw that...
maximum360 12-15-06, 07:56 PM The only reason I've been patient is because of google checkout $20 off $50.
Buy.com had Zelda: Twilight Princess for preorder the last few weeks so I couldn't do google checkout. Now it's been released but there's no way to add it to the cart on the site (Also, it's $49.99). :/
theforce8686 12-15-06, 08:03 PM At those prices the slow shipping doesnt bother me. I got plenty of BD's to watch until my 12 from buy.com arrive.
rgathright 12-15-06, 09:06 PM I just ordered a Panny and now am looking for the deals. It sounds like this is good if you do several small orders instead of a big one.
Is this correct?
I just ordered a Panny and now am looking for the deals. It sounds like this is good if you do several small orders instead of a big one.
Is this correct?Yes, it's unlimited. Try to keep the total as close to $50 as you can.
Unfortunately many of the more popular titles like Blackhawk Down have sold out and they have raised the prices on many of the others.
i cant find any info on the sony rebates (just checked all documentation that came with ps3)
can any1 help me out
rgathright 12-16-06, 10:17 AM Does Google charge anything for their checkout?
Has ne1 seen sleepy hollow? is this a good movie? will it work on ps3? lol :)
WriteSimple 12-16-06, 11:42 AM Does Google charge anything for their checkout?
Nope. It's more like Buy.com charges you the full amount but Google pays for the discount. They want you to use Google Checkout so that they can leverage its usage to more online retailers.
i cant find any info on the sony rebates (just checked all documentation that came with ps3) If your PS3 doesn't come with the free Talladega Nights disc, you won't get the rebate book.
The rebate can be used on selected BD discs only. Not all.

yeah just sent in an order with enemy of the state. :D
BHD didnt show up when i selected search by availibility. i find its best to just go thru all titles offered and scroll over them for status. not the easiest way but it works.

Then I'd suggest you call Sony and find out if you can still get the rebate book.

rdodolak 12-16-06, 05:18 PM People who have gotten thier orders: Did you shipping info ever change from this: Status: Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at X:XX am on November XX, 2006 in HEBRON, KY 41048. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later?
I am waiting but nothing other than this message.
I've had 4-5 packages go through HEBRON, KY and all have stayed at that status until they were delivered. I checked the status of my remaining packages this morning and they still showed HEBRON, KY 11 days later. However, they were delivered this afternoon and still show that status. The status should be updated as delivered after tonight.
These packages have all been sent via smartmail/usps.
Well,
I take it back, I have missing orders now.
It has been almost a month on one order and I have not received the three movies!
theforce8686 12-20-06, 03:00 AM I just know that 3 days after my initial order of 12 movies using free shipping I received my first 2, and today my 3rd. Hopefully every day they will keep coming.
maximum360 12-20-06, 08:16 AM I finally received the two movies I ordered. It only took them three weeks.
The problem is that I ordered two Blu-ray movies and the fudged that. They gave me on DVD and one Blu-ray so I had to send the DVD copy right back. I don't feel like calling them again because I'll be routed India to speak with "Bob" again.
Chris Dotur 12-20-06, 09:29 PM Mine are still trickling in. I'd like to order Blackhawk Down and some other things (like an SACD called "Jazz at the Pawnshop" that some of you may recognize as historic) but those things are showing "on order", shipping in 1-2 weeks. Hopefully some of the regular items of those like BHD come in stock before the Google coupon runs out, so I can do that.
Just watched X3 tonight. Great PQ and SQ! Wish the movie was a bit better.
Anyone still ordering discs from them? I added a few to my cart but the Google Checkout button is always greyed out. I must be missing something here...
ckenisell 12-21-06, 01:15 PM Not grayed out for me.
maximum360 12-21-06, 01:17 PM Preorders are greyed out.
Ah ok. I was adding Superman which says In Stock on the main screen until I add it to cart, then it says On Order. Got it now... thanks :)
I was just wondering ....
Will the rebate center (coupons with ps3) accept receipts printed out on a printer?
Like if you buy from buy.com, can you use that as an "original receipt" ... to be included with rebate coupon and UPC code
any forseen problems here?
mimason 12-21-06, 06:51 PM ^^^ Shouldn't be a problem. I am jumping on the PS3 $10 BD rebates Plus$20 off $50. How can we not at $6-11 each depening on title.
FWIW
ordered MI3 and four brothers late at night on dec 16th, chose free shipping. Both arrived this morning dec 22 in central florida :D
I've ordered six times for a total of 13 Blu-ray movies and I'm sending in the $10 rebates. It's a great way to get a start on a Blu-ray library going. The selection of movies coming out in the future looks great to me, but i think this promotion is due to end soon. Oh well, it was great while it lasted.

For me any item that gets sent mediamail into the Hebron, KY hub takes 2 weeks or more before it gets to me. Pretty sad considering I'm on the east coast. God knows what they're doing over there.:(
eric10301 12-25-06, 02:32 AM I'm hoping to score The Descent and Click for a total of $20 after the 2 MIR's and $20 off using google checkout on tuesday. I just hope they dont pull the google checkout savings before the 26th :).
joeblow 12-25-06, 03:23 AM Bah, three Blu-ray movies ordered on 11/30 and they only now get into my state on 12/23. Who knows when they'll actually make it to my house. Never again.

Have not had too many problems until recently. They shipped Enemy of the State and Field of Dreams on 12/12. I ordered Invincible and Corpse Bride on 12/20...received Invincible on 12/22. rgathright 12-25-06, 11:20 AM I have ordered 2 groups of 2. Have received 1 of the first group. The other one is probably sitting at my door. Am not concerned about how long they take being my Panny player has not been delivered yet.
Plarodin 12-25-06, 11:52 AM they now have transporter 2. i had to use the search, it didn't come up under in-stock titles.

I might just have to order even more!

Has Buy.com had BHD in stock today? I've been trying to order my own copy for awhile...they're always sold out.
Lolt345 12-26-06, 07:58 PM Did anyone pay for the standard shipping but still have their orders ship with USPS? I paid extra for the standard shipping for one of my orders, M:I3 and Memento and only M:I3 got shipped out. They shipped with USPS. Isn't standard shipping supposed to be UPS or Fedex?
I also ordered the PS3 controller and paid for standard shipping and it was also shipped out with USPS.

Some titles don't support the offer, so look at each movie before you add it to your cart.
I got 6 movies (all Tier 0 or 1) for like $95 using 3 seperate orders!
firefighter81 12-27-06, 12:31 AM I had to go use one of our military networked computers, my connection sucks here and kept timing out. I ended up making 6 orders, 12 movies for an average of $16 each :)
Thanks for the heads up on this deal!
Sadly The Descent was on backorder, so I couldn't order it, I guess I'll just have to pay normal price for it. :(
Deal is over. The deal is now off the site and when you go through Google Checkout it does not apply the discount. It happened exactly at 2 AM CST....so Midnight PST.
BlackRiderX 12-27-06, 03:11 AM Should be interesting to see what they do with the prices of the upcoming $39.99 Fox titles they have listed. Looks like I'll be switching back over to Amazon now. :)
TwinTurboZX 12-27-06, 03:16 AM I got in before they took the offer down. Picked up Kingdom of Heaven and Balzing Sadles for $32. Great deal!!
Their pricing is just weird. Some they are about the same as Amazon, others they are just insanely more expensive.

Ant Bully $35 compared to $24 at Amazon
Same for Pearl Harbor
Rocky $40 compared to $28 at Amazon
ATL $35 to $24
Superman: The Movie $29 to $20

Got 2 of my orders fine. Waiting on Batman and Glory Road since 12/21. To top it off I got Tomb Raider on BR but they sent me Invincible on SD DVD instead of BR! They want me to return it and rebuy it which would cost me $20 on losing the Google Checkout order. Plus I would have to pay return shipping for their mistake. A company that won't fix their mistakes is a company that I will not buy from. Hopefully the other 2 orders will arive and that will be the last time I deal with Buy.com!

Lol @ Hebron KY. Thankfully my address is situated where my shipments have bypassed that black hole and got here fast as hell. I can just picture all the toothless kentucky hicks that work there...
ragedogg69 01-11-07, 10:37 AM it all depends on what shipping house its coming from. apparently buy.com has multiple. living in az i have had a majority of my discs go thru denvers shipping hub but a few have been "stuck" in KY. so you might end up in KY regardless of where you live.
When buy.com shipped me the wrong version of Superman Returns (got HD DVD version instead of BR) I ended up having to return it to Best Buy because their service sucked so bad (I actually made ~$7-8 dollars out of the deal in the end -- got 37 gift card from HD DVD version and bought BR version for ~29 or so and only paid ~22 or so for the HD DVD version from buy.com). I just told best buy I got it as a gift and was told it was purchased there and all was well. I don't know why I didn't think about doing it earlier -- I pissed around with Buy.com customer support for about 2 weeks.
Buy.com said they shipped me a shipping label to send it back and issued me an RMA number, but I never recieved the shipping label (which was said to expire 10 days after they shipped it)... I said screw it and took advantage of B&M store return policies (it was unopened, so it wasn't any loss to them really).
maximum360 01-11-07, 12:20 PM I'll now cringe everytime I hear Hebron, KY; the Bermuda Triangle of the postal service.
ragedogg69 01-11-07, 03:51 PM When buy.com shipped me the wrong version of Superman Returns (got HD DVD version instead of BR) I ended up having to return it to Best Buy because their service sucked so bad (I actually made ~$7-8 dollars out of the deal in the end -- got 37 gift card from HD DVD version and bought BR version for ~29 or so and only paid ~22 or so for the HD DVD version from buy.com).
I said screw it and took advantage of B&M store return policies (it was unopened, so it wasn't any loss to them really).
yeah i considered doing the same thing. With my Crank fiasco, (that sounds dirty) :p I had to email them about the shipping label and they told me how to go thru the order tracking to get to the stupid label. they dont mail it and they dont email it. you just have to find out.
I see that Crank on BR is back ordered so even when they get the wrong DVD back, it will be february when I finally recieve the correct BR Crank.
*sigh*
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I want my $20 off $50 discount again!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaah!!
Seriously, I am experiencing some major withdrawl after going crazy and buying about 20 blu-ray movies from Buy.com during the holiday.
Here's what I'm looking for (on the cheap of course!):
Crank
Transporter 2
Descent
Alien vs. Predator
Pearl Harbor
All these were pre-orders, otherwise I would've picked them up during the Google discount period.
firefighter81 01-25-07, 09:17 AM Anyone else not received their movies yet? I got my shipping notification on Dec 26, it's now almost one month later and I still don't have them. They were being shipped to Seattle, but the tracking info says "Delivered on "DATE" to Sacramento, CA" and I still haven't seen them. I made 6 different orders. I tried contacting them through e-mail, but it's been 3 days and still no response, anyone have their 1-800 number?
Thanks!
aaronwt 01-25-07, 09:22 AM I had one order get lost. They sent a replacement out a few days after I notified them. I still have two orders that haven't shipped yet and i placed the orders 6 weeks ago.
xgeneration66 01-25-07, 09:39 AM I had an order with corpse bride made on december 17th. I received the other disc in that order about a week later. Then i waited a few weeks before i emailed them. There was no response on that email and then i emailed them again a few days after that. They replied and said the disc was on back order and would keep me posted. About another week passed and they resubmitted the order and gave me another order number and said the item is still on back order. Almost a month passed before they finally shipped but once they did i got the item in 2 days.

Check fatwallet's forums. I think in their "Financial" section they have a thread with a list of all the hard to find telephone numbers for companies. Buy.com was one of them. I was able to find the number their and spoke to Bob in India.
i ordered a ton of stuff i normally wouldn't have during that deal too :)
i wonder how much money buy.com/google lost during that promotion
Unless you call buy.com customer support they won't get the replacement DVD out to you. I called twice and each time I received my replacement DVD 2-3 days after making the call.

Ah! The Ubiquitous Bob... :D
firefighter81 01-25-07, 01:01 PM Ok, so I got the number off Fatwallet (thanks for that info!) and I called, spoke with some Indian/Arab woman who is now telling me I will receive a full refund for all of my orders within 3-5 business days. What the hell man? She said something about they were shipped back to the warehouse for some reason, but I couldn't understand her.
Bleh, whatever, I guess I'll have $200 to go spend on Amazon in a few days then. I should have known something like this would happen $15 a piece for Blu-ray and HD DVD movies was just too good to be true. Congratulations to everyone who got their order, I wish I would have too :(

I hate to say it, but you screwed up.
I spoke to an Indian woman also...she gave me the option for a full refund, but I insisted on a replacement for the ones I lost in the mail. She gladly accepted and I now have X-Men III and Mission Impossible III in my hands.

I did the same thing when they messed up my superman returns bluray order. You can always call them back and see if that's still an option.
firefighter81 01-25-07, 05:22 PM Ok, I'll try calling back, I hope it works. I'd really like to get my movies and not the refund, but she didn't give me that option. I didn't even think to be more persistent to get them.
Anyone else having problems with the $10 off Google checkout at buy.com?
I wanted to place a couple more orders but keep receiving an error message on checkout.
aaronwt 02-07-07, 05:23 PM I'm still waiting for four BD movies I ordered two months ago. Although I did receive the other 20+ I ordered.

Are any of these Kingdom of Heaven? I ordered it on dec 26 and it hasnt shipped yet and is supposedly on backorder. I think its ridiculous that it would be on backorder for this long and that it would still be on the front page of the blu-ray movies(they list the best selling first) and also that its been saying its in stock.

Same error here. Did they finally catch on to the multiple orders?

Anybody else know of any sweet deals online?

I did order that in December with the Google checkout but they shipped it out within a couple of days.

They started catching it about the 2nd week of Jan. Back then they cancelled based on multiple similar emails, and CC. Now they have moved on to checking IP addresses. At least thats what I heard.
