View Full Version : Subwoofer cabinets for sale
kgveteran 11-25-06, 10:57 PM Every time I clean my basement, I see my two cabinets that are just sitting around doing nothing. They use to house one Tumult each. They are 2" MDF all sides. They are gloss black, but a bit rough.Problem is I can't ship. They would have to be a pickup only. This is the reason they are still in my basement.
This is more to get them into a good home, not get rich.
They are 21.5"x21.5"x24"H.About 90lbs each.....real boat anchors.

Grrr. I'd so pick one of those up if I lived in the NE.
What's your zip?
Sealed?
What diameter is that hole?
Is the height really 24? (they look square)
PM me what you're hoping to get?
They look nice, and I need a box..and i live in NY....hmmm
kgveteran 11-26-06, 09:18 AM Sealed, hole diameter is 14".They are square, bottom has a base on it that raises it up about 2.5". Zip is 14420.They are about 3.0 cu ft. Originally they housed one of the NHT 1259's.I had to bail on them and get the Tumult.
digital desire 11-26-06, 11:33 AM What do you need for them?
Question: Tell me about the switch from the 1259 to the Tumult in that cabinet : Did you have to make the cut out bigger, screw holes, etc. Difference in performance impressions?
EDIT: Nevermind :^)
I see you opened them up to 15", the difference would be dramatic, I am sure...
kgveteran 03-15-07, 01:22 PM I bump this up once in a while.Still available. No shipping though.

Bone215 06-28-07, 08:14 PM would it be a good box for a rythmic 12"?
SayNoToPistons 06-28-07, 09:29 PM Awhhh, too bad the diameter is too big for me...
kgveteran 06-29-07, 10:30 AM It's opened to the diameter of 14".That is the opening size.Perfect for the Tumult if they ever decide to produce them again.
kgveteran 01-23-08, 08:37 AM Here is another bump incase anyone is interested. I'm really more interested in finding a good home as I said before.

DonoMan 01-23-08, 09:09 AM Hmm... Too far for me :(
armystud0911 01-23-08, 12:38 PM These would be lovely homes for a pair of acoupower 15's, power each with en EP2500 and you'd have plenty of power, and some small yet serious woofage for around $2k.
...or the new 15" Rythmik kits.
Vinculum 01-26-08, 02:26 AM These would be lovely homes for a pair of acoupower 15's, power each with en EP2500 and you'd have plenty of power, and some small yet serious woofage for around $2k.
The baffle is too thick for an Acoupower 15" because of the way the basket needs to vent.
Sure looks like stout boxes! I'm sure they'll sell once the right local discovers them.

They would work great with Rythmik Audio DS1500 as I have the exact same boxes that were the exact same 1259 subs that sucked in my opinion. Funny thing is mine are 2 inch thick too. I just re routerd the opening and 14 1/8 is the cut out for the DS1500 driver. With 2 lbs of stuffing my new DS1500 rocks!
I think if you live close its a great time to make a great sub !
kgveteran 01-30-08, 08:34 AM I think I got about a year out of the dual 1259's . I really think it's a better woofer in a three way than a subwoofer. IIRC , it was the woofer in the NHT 3.3 , which was a great speaker in it's day.
I'm sure one of these day an upstate DIY guy will make em' a good home.

Have you tried Craigslist or Freecycle? It is amazing what kind of crap people will take for free.

It is very very true.

Someone better jump on that deal. Sad people buy garbage premade commercial boxes and do not jump on a tank like box like this one.

Two tanks !!!!! Throw a Maelstrom in each, sealed
ah crud, why are you not in "cahlifohnia"
:-/
I was going for ~4 cu ft sealed 2x... would need to rework the baffle but... yeah :O
Brought up a question for me - does anyone have any luck in selling your DIY subs when you decide to upgrade?
I'm a finish carpenter now, used to work in a cabinet shop before, so building the boxes and finishing is the easy part for me. It's the picking the right driver, modeling, tuning, matching power and eq'ing is what's new to me.
Learning slowly, but want to build a few "tester" boxes before I drop bigger bucks into subs or build time into fancier enclosures. (I just ordered the sale eD 13Ov.2 to build a few)
But I would hate to take a circ saw to 'em when I'm done. Part of the fun for us DIY'ers is building something to your own tastes, don't know if people would want to buy our projects...
kgveteran 07-08-08, 02:00 PM Bumping these back up if anyone is willing to take a ride and pick them up!
Kg
I'm willing; check your PMs, please.

Yes,
A local gentleman came to get them. I think he will enjoy them, all 160lbs of them.
