OK, all of you self confessed audiophiles out there (and also all of those who enjoy poking fun at them) have absolutley GOT to see this video made interviewing members of the Audiophile Club of Athens. Awesome!

The second link works fine for me. I am about half way done watching it and it is a great video. I am Greek so for me it is really cool to see this. It also gives me an excuse. It's in the genes and I am not responsible :)

Nicely done video. I love the fact that the one guy says 50 % comes from power 30% from the rack. why even have the bands record and mix? They dont even figure into his equation. At least one guy has it sort of right when he says he doesnt call it R&D just playing and fooling around.I would love to put a big curtain up in front of the racks of gear so all the could see were the speakers then swap out the big turntables with Ipods or CD players or cheap turntables. And have them figure out which was which.

Wow, you can tell it's an audiophile system, my computer speakers never sounded so good.

The rest? Well, it's errr.... Greek to me.

just for the record, the guy at the beginning who blames his lunacy on a guy he met named Tony with refrigerator sized speakers- he's not referring to me!

great video though... you can see guys who have insanely spent on eqpt, and their room acoustics are nonexistent to AWFUL.

Hey, one guy (mister 50% electricity/30% rack) had 2 diffusers in his room- I guess it's better than nothing (although the waveguides on his speakers probably negate their effect).

-watching that gave me visions of certain peoples' rooms (that shall remain nameless :D )
....but you know who you are.

That was thoroughly entertaining, and I too was impressed with the video quality.

The last time someone told me it's 30% rack, I begged to differ: it's more like 80%. Of course we weren't talking about audio.

Heck I'd say even higher in some circumstances? Most guys love a nice rack right Michael? :D

Hey there. I didn't pay $500 and wait 6-8 weeks for my diploma to arrive in the mail so that some high-end audio nut can question it! I still have the original email advertisement, you know. It looks plenty legit.

the rack jokes could carry this thread on for weeks

Did you notice how that rack had very little jiggle, just a nice gentle sway?

I used to think it was all about the rack, but now that I'm older I've lowered my sights.

One of the big disappointments in life is when you think you found a really high quality rack, and then find it's a low quality rack that's been augmented or reinforced.

And now all those posts about pursuing the ultimate bottom end make so much more sense.

Hi,

I am quoting this, from the speakers Forum, where I had double-posted our Documentary film (hadn't seen it here and thank you very much for your comments :) ...)

I'm waiting from for the release of the Turkish Audiphile Club video :D

I was keeping this quote, till a different documentary (and compressed in 13 .mwv files of 5-15 min each) has been recently digitized about our invitation to Istanbul on June 2000 (5 exotic High-End systems auditions, a join meeting between A.C.A. and iHiFi, sailling in Vosporos Sea, visits to the city, a live Jazz evening etc.)

http://aca.gr/event00-6.htm (introductory & explaining of the visit, pictures and links to the video clips are included!)

Would you believe that A.C.A. would strike again? ;)

Enjoy

Looks normal to me. Just looks like a bunch of normal audio-enthusiasts.
Visit the Naim Audio forum. Those are audiophiles. :D

Some of the IMHO mistakes the greeks made:
- Using tall racks instead of multiple lower racks.
- Not separating the equipment within the racks properly (never put two enormous power amps directly on top of each other and then even at sources too)
- Poor power supplies. If you want to do it right, then get a 10mm˛ cable and make a proper spur from it.
- Room treatment

And it seems to me, that they think "the bigger the better", which is simply wrong.

Well, that ought to piss the Greeks off.

(Un)Fortunately, as the rack gets older it tends to sit lower as well... perhaps it's time for an upgrade?

Are we still talking about racks?

These guys look like they're a fun bunch to hang around with. It was great seeing the look on the wives face when they said the estimated prices of their setups.
