View Full Version : Fujitsu 55" Plasmavision Video Problem - Please help
arowana 11-29-06, 11:47 AM Hello everyone,
I was hoping someone could help me out since I couldn't find any info on this. I have a Fujitsu 55" Plasmavision P55XHA30WS for a little over 2 years now. For the last month I've noticed that when I turn on the TV in the mornings, the video quality, both SD and HD, is really poor. The best I can describe it is that there seems to be grey dark clouds or blotches all over the screen. However, the blotches seem to lighten up and disappear the longer the television is on.
I thought the video source may be the cause of this. The main video source is the DirecTV Tivo HD receiver. However, the blotches are also noticeable on my Panny DVD player however not as noticeable.
It seems like the plasma tv has to "warm up" first now in order to give a good quality picture. Has anyone experienced or heard of this before?
Many thanks in advance.
~ Wayne

Have you checked your settings to see if they have changed?
I had the same display (40 series) for over a year and did not have that problem.
arowana 11-30-06, 03:31 PM My tv was fine for the first couple of years too. Like I mentioned before, my tv is over 2 years old and it wasn't until recently that I started to experience this.
I had the TV professionally calibrated after the burn in period so all the settings are saved.
arowana 12-16-06, 05:26 PM I just wanted to update my own thread. I had an in-home service call and it turns out I had a bad board. The technitian said he's seen it before and replacing one of either 3 boards fixed the problem. So my tv is in the shop now and I will update later with the results.
NewPlasmaGuy 03-07-07, 06:37 PM I have had a recent, but dissimilar problem with my Fujitsu 55" (40 series) PDP. On the left side of the screen about 1/3 of the way in from the left edge, I have a 2 pixel wide black line (i.e., seemingly dead pixels) that runs from the top of screen to the middle of the screen. I have verified that it is the panel and not any of my inputs. Anyway, I have a service call into Magnolia, so we'll see what this is about. I'm glad I purchased this with my AMEX card as the 1 year warranty has expired on the PDP (if it is the panel) -- but I'm still covered under the AMEX Buyers' Assurance Plan for another two weeks or so....
Has anyone else experienced this type of anomaly on a Fujitsu?
doubleroll 03-18-07, 03:40 PM So my P55/30 hasn't had any of the issues listed here. Would you guys care to share you settings?
Mine are: (RGB3 480P)
Brightness +9
Contrast -5
Coloer 0
Tint 0
Sharpness -7
Pic mode static
Precision:
red 241
green 253
blue 200
noise red off
NewPlasmaGuy 04-27-07, 11:25 PM Update: My panel went bad. The cost to fix was nearly what I paid for it back in 2005. I would have really been upset but for the fact that the Amex Buyer's Assurance Plan covered this issue. To make a long story short, I have a new Fujtsu P-55XTA51UB thanks to Amex. (A brand-new 55" Fujitsu cost less than fixing the old one). Note: This newer model is WAY better than my -40 series, in my opinion. Better black level; more vibrant colors; etc.

That is great news! Enjoy your new set.
I wonder who the OP made out with his issue...
the fujitsu tv's have a 3 year warranty on them. i'm glad you got a brand new one but fujitsu should have taken care of it anyway.

Why?
cause it was still under warranty? (wondering sarcasm)

Actually that model is only had one year warranty on the panel, so AMEX replaced it based on their extended warranty.
58Burst 07-20-07, 12:36 AM Same problem here in PA as New Plasma Guy had (line appearing about 1/3 of the way in from the edge running about half-way down from the top of the screen). What was the diagnosis, and did American Express back you up? I've had this one for about 19 months (naturally, the display's only covered for 1 year in the finer print).
PLEASE ADVISE
Thanks, Steve

Same thing here. Vertical line of bad pixels on right side of display. Thanks to my dealer's aggressive efforts in pursuing Fujitsu, they got it covered under warranty despite the fact that I was over 1 year on the PDP, yet still within the 3 years on everything else. They appear to deal with these on a case by case basis. Must be a bad history on these panels from the early 55" models.
JRH_147 08-02-07, 03:53 PM Hey!
I'm going through the same exact thing now on my Fuji 55" - 1 pixel wide red line running down along the right third of the screen from top to middle. Tech. came out and said it was a bad display and I'm currently in the process of having it replaced.
It's over 2 years old (spring 2005). Bought the extended warranty (thankfully), but they refuse to replace it with the same set (too expensive) - they're offering me the '07 Pioneer 60.
Wish I had bought it on Amex...maybe next time
