Hi,

I've recently brought a ECP4500+. All is working fine, except the geometry controls have stopped working, keystone, pin, bow. I've searched the forum and found this post, but there were no replies.

" 09-27-04 07:50 PM: ECP 3100 Keystone problem

I am helping a friend with a keystone problem on his ECP 3100. He just picked it up for cheap and it works perfectly except the keystone adjustment will not work. I tried two other known good keystone modules to no avail. Is there another module that could be the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Ray "

Has anyone please got any suggestions of what to try, possible problems or sollutions?

Many thanks, Simon.

I am sorry I can't offer much but, if you just got the ECP, this might be worth a try. These machines are notorious for oxidation on the socket pins. Try pulling the boards in the back of the projector, the ones behind the panel with all the lights. Remove the panel, pull the boards and insert back. You will notice that on some boards ( convergence especially) there are IC's in sockets. Firmly push on the IC's to reseat them in their sockets. Careful not to break anything. If that doesn't work, post back and someone else will surely chime in.

I'm in the same boat (no PIN, BOW or KEY) on my 3100. Waiting on some new cards from Curt Palme to fix it.

He suggested making sure the connector didn't come loose on the Keystone module.

I also re-seated the PIN daughterboard on the rear card to no avail.

I'll post if Curt finds out what the problem was.

Does the screen "shudder" a bit when making adjustments to KEY, PIN or BOW? I notice mine does but, beyond that, nothing happens.

Don,
I have tried removing the cards and reseating them and I also pushed the ICs down into their sockets , but it didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Klover,
I also tried the PIN daughterboard, but like you it didn't help. Neither did re-doing the connectors on the keystone module.

I've read up a lot on Curt's site, a great source of ino. Please do let me know how you get on, if I know which board/boards are faulty them I can repair them or get replacements. I'm hoping it's a connection problem as it did work fine when I brought it, hoping it's a tranisit problem that can be easily fixed.........

Thanks, Simon.

Forgot to say, I don't think the screen "shudders" when making adjustments, there is a slight change, but I think that's just the OSD updating.

You got it, I'll let you know what happens when I start swapping cards/modules.

Simon- in his case it was the waveform board. He sent me his boards (I sold him the set) and I inadvertently sent him the waveform board out of my test set. Even though the part numbers were IDENTICAL and his board worked in my set, mine didn't work in his. That's pretty common with ECPs, changes were made in production runs even within the same version of board that made incompatibility issues an... issue.

IN your case it could be the waveform board, the CPU board or the convergence board. I can test/repair them here if you want. Email me below..

Thanks!
