Has anyone who is running this sytem figured out how to run optical audio with the DVD player connected via HDMI? When I do it, it runs the audio to video1 and video to DVD. By connecting the DVD with the digital coax the audio comes in with the video on the DVD setting.
Does it really matter? Is there that much of an improvement in sound with optical vs coax?
Thanks

I tried running it the way you are talking about, but the optical in is only for Video 1 and 2. I'm running the coax now, and it is great sound. I'm trying to figure out the Playstation problem now. I've posted that in a thread in this forum.

that is what I thought. I was hoping I was missing something, though. I love the sound, I just hate the cable. The clear optical cable is a lot more inconspicuous.

I have 2 questions about Sony HT 7000DH for u guys who have one before I go buy one. 1, Will I be able to play home recorded CDs/DVDs on the DVD player? My old sony DVD is very particular and would not play a buddy's band demo CD nor music burned by my computer's DVD burner. 2, Can I plug and play an ipod (If not, what is required to play an ipod thru it?). Thanks. (also posted on another thread)

Yes, it plays burned CDs and DVDs. I have an RCA to mini cable plugged into a spare set of plugs and play my Creative Vision:M so your Ipod should work as well.
