Just logged in and accepted my invite. I went out looking for a bluetooth headset today, but they were all expensive and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I'll probably hold off on buying one until more PS3 games come out that I could use it for.

Anyway, I ended up just buying a cheap USB keyboard so I can at least text chat.

I just played my first 4 ranked games of Resistance.

WOW, I haven't experienced gameplay so hectic since I was playing Quake...ages ago.

I reckon 40-player matches can be quite a blood bath, if you happen to stumble on all of them in one room.

And yes, I lost 99% of my deatmatch skills. I am now as noob as noob can get.

Sure, but that's only one part of the story.

Humans could work as a team and strategize to kill aliens. Aliens could work as a team and strategize to kill humans.

I am complaining about the fact none of this happens. Members of a team run in all directions without coordination and team work...so, in the end, it's like playing deathmatch, even though you don't kill people on your team.

That's my main complaint about most of those online games...it often ends up being a kill/get killed, rinse, repeat routine.

If you play good people, numbers always win and the key is to pick off the dumber guys and then attack w/ the numbers advantage.

I am 45, been gaming for years on all systems, PC consoles, etc. I suck too, but you will get the hang of it. You just have to play it obsessively. I was on my headset last night playing capture the flag. The people I played with seemed nice and tolerant. I am gettting better. It was a blast.

for the newbies, how do we connect to the AVS clan? Do I have to put AVS in the list? Or when I sign onto multiplayer and I get and invite will it auto show up? Maybe if someone can give a brief walkthrough of how it works it would be helpful to all.

We should set up some times during the week where a good amount of people can play, of course everyone wont be able to that's why maybe 3-5 times / week? Whenever I go on everyone is offline. For me it would be easier on the weekend and at nights.

Oh yeah, I believe that's what seperates good players from great players, consistency. It's funny if you play long enough you can see the change. Sometimes I'll come on to a server and the first few round I'm doing great and then I start to fall off.

I played the game online for the first time all day yesterday. My username was ace24 for anyone that saw me. I'm ranking up pretty quickly, too. :D

I've been playing ranked deathmatches lately... I am just mediocre for the most part... middle of the road at the end... maybe we need to start another clan since the original one seems to not be sending new invites...

Yeah. I won't lie. There were matches where I completed came in last(rarely), and matches where I do very well. I really don't like being the Chimeras in the game. Sure, you can see through objects, but I like the humans and seeing the enemies on the map.

This game is a BLAST to play. So much fun. I just love it when a group of my teammates follow each other around and wipe everyone out. My favorite level was the hanger. Me and this one guy was chilling on top of a platform at the end far end just sniping everyone. Easy kills.

When in the multiplayer menu hit select and use R1 to scroll over to the clan tab and then accept the invitation. Going from memory, but IIRC that's it.

I've left the clan for lack of leadership. No offense to Danny, it's just a fact.

If someone wants to start a semi-competive clan made up of AVSers I'd gladly jump back in. I play every weekday during the day and on weekends at all hours, day and night. My kdr in unranked games is only .85 but climbing. Last week it was .80. I only played ranked games when I was new so I screwed those stats up.

I'd take leadership but don't have the time and actually leave for FL on Saturday so I won't be playing for a week while on vaca.

Ive got a few hiding spaces there and i just blow ppl's heads off with the grenade launcher that walk by all day long.

Then I tried switching to un-matched team play,
CTF games, I'm doing a LOT better now.

I went into the multiplayer "off-line" mode (with 2 controllers)
which allowed me to tour the Somerset map at my own pace
without having to panic and run for my life and getting my head blown off without notice ;)

Once I became more familar with the map, weapons locations and
a few strategic hiding spots for sniping, it made a HUGE difference in
how long I could play on-line, instead of having to re-spawning every 15 seconds :D

Hey, anyone who needs a lot, or a little, help with the on-line play...I usually create a room called "beginner's pin" at 3:15 pm central every week day, and if you just want a place to go without instant deaths for yourself every ten seconds, you can work on your techniques at a more encouraging pace. Usually! (Sometimes guys with flaming death masks like to come in a mop everyone up, but they usually get bored pretty fast!)

Beginner's pin
Weapons: I usually just leave out the rocket launcher, auger, and arc charger.
Infinite ammo.
Team deathmatch,
2 - 8 players.
3:15 - 5:30 pm (central time)
The room usually fills up pretty fast, so it must be fun for some.

I'm Kessler, and I think I'm a sergeant now. :p Wooooooo! Ha, like that matters. I'm probably the worst guy in the room any time I play! I think I have yet to kill anyone in a head-on run with a carbine! I'll unload my entire clip, and the other guy will shoot twice, and I'm done! (Try me, and you'll see for yourself!)

Can someone please send me an invite - riffjim4069. Quick question, how many people are using headsets with Resistance? I have a Motorola HS-850 but rarely use it due to it being a more susceptible to creating network drops...and all I ever hear is inane kiddie chatter - no useful strategy being discussed.

Before I forget...I was playing a Team Deathmatch on Lexington the other and some yutz killed me a dozen times before I realized he was sniping me from up in the tower (aka Bridge/Captains Deck). I dished up a few head shots, but they did no damage (it was as though he were off the map). Is this a legal tactic or was this guy cheating?

Anyway, I have been part of "A Clan" but it sounds like fun.

I would like an invite. I have gotten a lot of invites while playing but never accept because I don't play more than once or twice a week. But if this clan is much larger that won't matter.

if all you hear is kiddie banter, than you must still be playing halo! ;)
i use the headset and can't play without it and if someone starts getting annoying, just mute them. but anyone who uses the headset and just babbles nonsense is almost always some young self-important kid who thinks it's funny. i'm just glad you can't hear the other team lilke you could on halo2... i played that for one week and after that never played on xbox live again.

Conspiracy
I find it amusing that all of you (esp. you Conspiracy) are suddenly joining or wanting to join the AVS clan. After joining right out of the gate. I have never once seen any of the 15 or so clan members remaining playing online (the numbers have dropped off significantly over the past 4 month). Call that bad luck if you want, but you would think that some point I would have seen some AVSers logged online to play. So as of last Sunday I dropped out of the AVS clan. Good luck to those who intend to join.

As for Kessler - he's moved on. He's now thePester in the [F2W] clan and a much better player now.

I've been playing a lot of free-for-all death matches, over 1750, but have not played many team games. Maybe I'll start practicing the team matches.
