Well I finally got my component cables today and hooked them up and I got no display. My t.v. says its not getting any sort of input source. I have one of the Micro Center Winbook 37T1 LCD displays that handles 480i/p as well as others, and I have hooked up many other sources that output 480i/p and not had any problems. I called Nintendo support and they said they'd have a tech call me to help trouble shoot it, but in the meantime does anyone have any help/ideas. I fear it may be my t.v because my roommate can't get his to work either with the same setup. We both just got our component cables today from the same shipment, have the same t.v. brand and have two different Wii's that won't display.

To break it down.

2 different Winbook LCD's
2 different Nintendo Wii's
2 different sets of component cables

Can not get anything to display on the Winbook LCD component hookups but have no problem displaying other sources with the same ouput(480i/p).

A/V cables at 480i display fine.

Did you set the Wii for 480p and then try the cables?

You can't select 480p ouput until hook up component cables and as soon as I hook up the cables I get no output at all. I tried changing it blindly and I'm pretty sure I clicked on the option to change the output settings to 480p and nothing. All I get is no signal.

Does the LCD support 480i?

Yes, I said all of that in my original post...

Maybe try an old trick I had to do on my original xbox. Plug the component cables into your Wii and then grab the one of the video connections on the other end (I believe I used the Green one) and plug that into your composite input on your TV. If it works you should have a mis-colored picture but at least you will have access to the setting where you can change from 480i to 480p. Once you change quickly unplug the green cable, plug it back into the component input along wtih all your other cables (if possible have the blue and red plugged in before) and switch your input to the component and if it displays then you can confirm resolution changing dialog. You have to be quick because they typically only give you 15 seconds to do these kinds of things.

I have tried this and still nothing. I may end up taking my Wii into my local Micro Center and try hooking the Wii up to one of their setups there and see if it works. If it doesn't I will try hooking it up to another brands tv. It doesn't make sense to me it would be the systems or the cables as they were purchased seperately at different locations and such and the t.v. brand is the same. My guess is it is the t.v. that won't work for some funky reason. But that doesn't make sense to me as the t.v. will output other 480i/p sources.

Hmm, well if you did what the other guy recommended and it still didn't work and you were quick enough, it could be that the LCD monitor does not support 480p. Winbook seems to be more a manufacturer of PC monitors than TV sets, so it's very possible they don't support 480p. Many LCD monitors don't.

I just bought a 37T1 last week, and plugged in my Wii via a set of no-name 3rd-party component cables with no problems, both at 480i and at 480p. I double checked the info on the TV's menu to confirm - it was definitely running at 480p. There are 2 possibilities:

1) it's a different manufacture or revision of the TV with the same model #
2) wherever you got your component cables from, they're a rip-off and not actually working and they sold you 2 identically useless ones
3) something's messed up with your Wii

I'm guessing 2, because you said other 480p signals display fine. Only way to verify would be to try the cable on a different HDTV make and model, or try a different model wii component cable (the $10 ones i got from playasia work fine).

of course, even at 480p the quality's pretty underwhelming. blocky as all hell. But i suppose i have high expectations after seeing my 360 at 720p on it.
