I know this doesn't pertain to the remote control area, but this is the closest thing i felt would touch on this topic since its an accessory. Is there a chat forum or section for headphones? (more specifically wireless for home entertainment)

What do you believe are the best headphones for home entertainment. I dont really care for distance or looks. I want the best sounding quality....

First, you have to understand that Wireless technology is not quite there yet. So, keep that in mind if you're a audio freak. But there is hope. Sennheiser is your best bet. They are ahead of the pack. I know this because my brother was obsessed with finding the perfect wireless set. Here's what we learned.

The Sennheiser RS-120 are good open ear headphones that sound great. The only draw back is outside noise due to not being sealed cups. I'm talking vaculm cleaners.

The RS-130 sound better but don't expect alot from the Surround Sound Function. Though it is better than nothing. The Surround Sould can be turned of if wanted.

The RS-140 sounds the same as the RS-130 but with a little better isolation. But they are in my opinion overpriced

A suprise to the mix is an entry level headphone by Bebe Sounds (http://www.amazon.com/BEBE-SOUND-Bebe-Sounds-Listener/dp/B0002JP1TY/ref=pd_ybh_a_5/002-7589592-5926420) . These are what I use. They might not be the greatest but they sound 10X better than the T.V. speakers. the only downside is no recharger, they run on batteries. Though I've only changed batteries once in 3 months.

But my brother found happiness with the Sennheiser RS-130. The RS-120 was close behind at number two. Hope this helps some.

Hi, good call on posting this thread! I'm also in the market for a good pair of wireless headphones (I hate cords). I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD85's on ebay only to find out they didn't come with the base station (DOH!). Well, one month later I finally got the seller to refund me and am looking at the same ones your brother bought (RS-130). I've read two good reviews and they seem like the best bang for the buck. I figure since I have a 2.4 Gig Router/phone I shouldn't have too much interference.

My question is...... How do I use these on my Computer and whatever other audio output sources I want to?? I mean, obviously you plug your wired headphones into your soundcard or your headphone jack on your receiver to use those. How do you hook up wireless headphone to said sources??? After thinking this over, it would seem you just plug the receiver into the audio jack for whatever device you want to use the headphones on (PC, Stereo,etc.).. Correct? Thanks

I recommend trying the AW791 Wireless Headphones Earphones from Acoustic Research. The product is not what I consider "the best headphones for home entertainment", but for the price I paid, $19.99, I can't complain. The headphones originally went for $299.99 and have been on the market since 2003.

I use them for watching/listening DVD/CD or cable TV with DD 5.1 surround sound late at night so I won't disturb anyone. I was pleasantly pleased with the sound quality and how comfortable the headphones are to wear. What's nice is when you're done, you just put them back on the stand so the batteries can recharge.

One other feature I like to mention is the range it has. I can go outside and sit on the porch and listen to my CDs or even go to the bathroom w/o missing a word. :)

The product and it's accessories are constructed well and at it's discounted price, I feel you won't be disappointed.

The product is not what I consider "the best headphones for home entertainment", but for the price I paid, $19.99, I can't complain. Your review makes these headphones attractive. Please post a URL for where I can purchase these headphones for $19.99.

Im looking too....seems to low of a price though to have quality sound??? I paid 19.95 once already for wireless CRAP headphones. Maybe we can't get them for $20 anymore on ebay?

Don't give up hope, do a advance search on ebay under AW791 with the Completed listings only box checked, and you'll see how many have been sold for under $20. You'll surely be able to pick up one at a price that is affordable to you.

Are there any headphones out there with a separate volume control for left and right?

Or maybe a l/r balance control?

My wife has been thinking about getting some as she is hearing impaired.

She would like to concentrate the majority of sound to the left ear.

I have seen ads for TV Ears, but reviews are less than rave.

Also, all the "noise canceling" phones I have checked into seem to be for airplanes only. Is there a way to get them to work with a TV at home?

Oh boy. The review I read was by an audiophile who was wildly impressed in both 2 channel and HT but even with the street price of around 800, this is tough to consider.

talk about wireless headphone technology not quite being there yet!

I bought a cheap set of wharfdale wireless headphones 3 weeks ago so I could watch late night tv and films without disturbing the neighbours below. After setting it up I found that I could hear the traffic going past my house through the phones. I clocked it was the next door neighbours but couldn't work out why. It was only tonight I realised it could be a baby monitor as they have a baby, doe!! How can I resolve this problem because my headphones are useless whille I can hear my neighbours?

It sounds like you have RF wireless headphones. The only solution that I can think of is for you to change the channel that the unit communicates on. There should be something on the headphones and base that allows a channel change. If not then you should return the headphones and find some IR based headphones or live with a wire.

I tried RF and IR and they both sucked in my situation. I have now fished some cables from my receiver through the walls, across the attic, and down the wall to my seating position. Added some nice wall plates and I have a wired setup without the wires (visible).

I used to use my Sennheiser RS-65s. Mostly to keep the house with small kids quiet. Loved them so much, I bought a second pair.

Got a sad surprise when I switch to HDMI. Going through a video receiver (H/K AVR245). Since I attached the headphone transmitter to tape monitor output, I get no audio. I guess I need to attach some stereo audio cables. So much for cable simplification. Still have not got around to it. maybe I have a project for this weekend!
