low to moderate priced seat shaker

Had some questions on seat shakers and how they are hooked up. Here are some i am considering. Can someone tell me how they are hooked up? Can any unit (1 unit) be used for more than one seat somehow (to save $$)?

a. bass shaker pro
b. buttkicker 2 (is this the same as buttkicker lfe?)
c. Clark transducer silver

You usually split the signal from the Subwoofer out on your AV amp/tuner, unless you have a second subwoofer out. The Buttkicker products offer a wireless send and receive unit to transmit the signal over to an amp that should be positioned near your seats. If you don't go wireless then you need to run a cable from the AV amp to your dedicated shaker amp. Then you wire from the dedicated amp to your shakers. Ideally you should have one per seat, but you can save on the number by mounting them under a riser. If you go that route put your riser up on isolators to isolate them from the main floor. You can also get away with fewer if you are using a sofa-type setup. Just use some rubber isolators, again, to keep the furniture de-coupled from the floor. If you can afford the Clark Synthesis, go that route. The performance is amazing and very precise in that you can differentiate foot steps from an explosion and vice versa.

how do you mount the clark silver? is it designed for 1 per seat?

Yes, it is designed for one per seat and should mount directly under the seat itself and pointing upward toward your nether regions :). Here's a link to a nice "how-to" from a DIY that installed three under his "Jurassic Couch" creation.

The process would be similar if you mount to individual HT seats like Berklines, etc.

I made one of these in college & it worked awesome! Alot better than any Buttkicker I've experienced. Probably more of what the Clark is like. The upper cutoff frequency is self regulated by the amount of weight that is applied. We had a 12" version strapped to the floor joists in house we rented and with only 50W it shock the whole house. During the opening scene of 'Independence Day' a water glass from 12' away from the source vibrated off of a coffee table. It really transitioned in well with the subwoofer.
