View Full Version : Second UFW or PB-12NSD?

So here is my dilemma - I am running a single UFW-10 at the moment and am pretty happy with the results. The two issues I have are:

1) Bass feels directional - perhaps my crossover (80Hz) is too high?
2) Not quite the HT shake I would like, but very good in music.

So my question is should I just get another UFW-10 and run them in "stereo", right now my single sub is next to my right front main - or should I just go with an SVS PB-12NSD and cross it over very low (30-40Hz) for HT applications? Will it be any harder to setup two different subs vs. a stereo pair? I figure if I go the SVS route I could always turn it off during music, but that would still leave me with slightly directional bass which I would prefer to get rid of. . . decisions decisions. . .thanks all.

Another UFW isn't going to make them go any lower, and you'd still have more clean output with the PB12. Shouldn't be any reason to turn a sub off for music. With a clean sub, an 80hz crossover shouldn't be all that directional. 80hz is tough to place, but distortion harmonics are not.

PB-12NSD Set it to 80 with your other sub and you'll have exactly what you want.

Adjusting the phase may help resolve your first problem.

Yeah I need to mess with the phase, that is very likely part of my problem. Sounds like the recommendation is to go with the PB-12NSD - which was the direction I was leaning towards myself. I'm gonna be broke soon :)

I have the PB12-NSD and love it. It is an amazing subwoofer and really adds a lot of impact for home theater use. It sounds very good with music too but probably not as clean and accurate as the UFW-10.
