No interest in any of these except Commando (which got pushed back).
Fettastic 12-12-06, 04:38 PM I'm assuming it's not the director's cut. That's ok because I didn't think it really made the movie any better. Sad it's not getting any extras at all.
The Surfer Dude 12-12-06, 04:39 PM Mr. and Mrs. Smith BD50 AND AVC encoded. Should be a good one.
eightninesuited 12-12-06, 05:03 PM Dammit! Why did Commando have to be pushed back?
Maybe they're working on the cardboard cutout soldiers. I hope they as CG soldiers. :D
Evangelo2 12-12-06, 05:09 PM Ice Age 2 and Dodgeball, 25GB MPEG2, 39.95? BOOOOOOO!
Why not use the newer codecs if you are putting these on a single layer!
Im dissapointed as I would be interested in both of those along with Mr & Mrs Smith.

woohooo!!!!
blu-ray momentum is picking up!!
xbdestroya 12-12-06, 05:31 PM Awesome news - Mr & Mrs Smith is a purchase for sure, and mo' Ice Age is mo' better.
Dodgeball may get purchased as well.

Don't care about Dodgeball. Ice Age is only 81min. However, I do agree that they should have used AVC and cranked the bitrate up. Doesn't matter, I'm sure it'll look amazing nonetheless.
u cant go wrong with Mr & Mrs Smith in HD.
My cats would go crazy every time I'd play Ice Age. I'll definitely buy the BD for them!

Hell ya, commando is the SHiznit ;) . Seriously how many movies open up with a guy carrying a freaking full sized tree home from the woods on just one shoulder, thats a man's man movie. Not to mention its the highest kill rate for 1 man with just one man killing the entire south american FARC army  , man that movie was awsome :D. Can't wait to see the saw blade cut off the guys head in the shed :p
Richard Paul 12-12-06, 06:25 PM Ice Age 2 and Dodgeball, 25GB MPEG2, 39.95? BOOOOOOO!
Why not use the newer codecs if you are putting these on a single layer!Well considering how well Fox did with their recent movies isn't it likely that they could also do well with Ice Age and Dodgeball given the same conditions? After all Ice Age 2 and The Devil Wears Prada were both 25 GB MPEG-2 discs and were considered great looking discs. Of course I certainly wouldn't mind if Fox used MPEG-4 AVC HP more and included more extras.
tkbryant 12-12-06, 06:42 PM The whole codec thing is getting kind of old!! Any codec can put out fantastic hi-def when encoded correctly. Just look at Black Hawk Down, Devil Wears Prada, Kung Fu Hustle, etc....They're have been some stinkers on VC-1 too folks. It's funny that people always seem to forget that. I for one could care less anymore which codec it is on as long as its good!!
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a title I have longed to see in hi-def and absolutely cant wait to see it!!! Ice Age should look pretty damn spectacular as well!!

Mpeg2 can put out a great picture when done right. Fox is getting very good results so far from their mpeg2 efforts. Its all about TLC in mastering and encoding. Just ask anyone who has seen Fox D-Theater.
I have Ice Age for DTHEATER and it looks great but I would like to get Mr. Aand Mrs. Smith. Why not? :D
I'll wait Fox to drop their price on blu-ray. No combo HD DVD too. 39.99 is just to much for a movie. 29.99 sounds reasonable from most studios.
mr & mrs smith - curiously absent from any recent forum discussions. even my regular retailer (dvd pacific) don't have it listed, saying that they'll post it as soon as they get details from the studio. so they haven't received anything 4 days before release date ????
surely not another cancelation from fox ?
metalsaber 03-08-07, 08:39 PM Mr. and Mrs. Smith BD50 AND AVC encoded. Should be a good one.
I will be picking this one up.
NovaKane 03-08-07, 08:47 PM DVD Empire lists a March 13 release date, as does Hi-Def Digest. Amazon has it listed as shipping in 4 to 6 weeks. Somewhat curious. I don't know if this was one of the films that Fox rescheduled.
I am looking forward to seeing and hearing this movie in HD. Should be a good one.
Megalith 03-08-07, 10:33 PM Is Commando pushed back again?
Uhh...they announced them 5 days before release? What in the world?
HPforMe 03-09-07, 12:55 AM Mr. & Mrs. crap. Don't care for either of them.

Mine is still slated to ship on the 13th with Amazon with an estimated arrival on the 14th. Alot of times they are sold out before they ship...therefore you get the in stock in 4-6 weeks info. We'll know soon enough.
mhafner 03-09-07, 06:03 AM If Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a DNR mine field like the 35mm prints I'll pass. Yuck. If they have an unfiltered version, bring it on.
RScottyL 03-09-07, 09:04 AM Mr. and Mrs. Smith BD50 AND AVC encoded. Should be a good one.
I second that! Definately a "must have" for me!
Fettastic 03-09-07, 10:32 AM Too bad Ice Age is getting screwed with a BD25 MPEG2 and barely any extras. :(
gandolf01933 03-09-07, 10:46 AM wasn't this title put back?.
jon smith 03-09-07, 11:03 AM wasn't this title put back?.
Smith wasn't put back... i usually order from DVD pacific though and they still don't have it listed? Looking forward to this more than casino royale.
Dr Kain 03-09-07, 11:10 AM Man this topic is so old...
