Ok all

I found them in a Costco in North Miami, Fl. I went ahead and bought 4 of them. I get my regular Berklins from Roman later this week. I will see if I want to use all 4 of these or just 2 and put two for sale.

I am more than 200lbs 5'8" and fit in them just fine. These thing are very nice.

I know this thread has been quiet for abut a year now, BUT if anyone happens to know of (4) "Costco-type" ottomans available for sale, PLEASE contact me. I am definitely interested Thanks!

Me too...

I contacted the manufacturer, and they said they had no plans to produce more of these, and that they had built them only for Costco.

Wow, funny this thread popped up when it did. Don't get your hopes up, I didn't find any of the ottomans, but we did settle on some overflow seating that should work out pretty well. We found some comfortable resin adirondack chairs at Menards for $16 a piece. They're low to the ground, stackable and have good lumbar support. They make a great front row if you don't have a riser (and we don't). They're no more of an obstruction than a guy sitting in front of you in a conventional theater, but fully reclining in the back row might be a problem.

Here's what looks to be the same chair:
http://canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/2/OutdoorLiving/4/PatioFurniture/MuskokaAdirondackChairs/PRDOVR~0880174P/Ergonomic%252BAdirondack%252BChair.jsp?locale=en

We might even try to make some darker colored slip covers with a little padding, but to be honest, they really don't need it... I spent a couple hours in one while cleaning off the DVR last night. Worked like a champ (and I'm even fighting a bad back right now... just be sure to try them out, some of the non-ergonomic chairs are pretty bad). And at that price, I won't feel bad when we stack them up and send them to the basement for the other 362 days a year when we don't need 'em.

I've got some pictures at home. I'll try to post them tonight.

Sears sells something similar. I have not seen this but I've looked at the Costco ones.

Got two of the Sears chair/ottoman, my wife just called and mentioned that they were delivered.

I'll be putting them together this evening, and will give you my thoughts, and pictures later on.

Some observation about the Sears chairs; They came on a single carton box, they had no shipping damage or any signs that the boxes were missmanaged, however I think they should put them in a shipping box for extra protection. These come completely assembled. I thought they needed some assembly, but they don't, the only additional assembly is that they have extra longer feet if you so want them. I plan to leave them with no legs, they have small sliders as feet.

The leather like material is also acceptable and they are fully covered on all sides. Construction wise I would give them an 8 out of 10. The two seats open at a different angle for the backs, not a big deal but you would've expect for them to the same.

They are not very heavy and can be moved, but I would doubt that my wife would be moving these by herself and for sure kids can't move them by themselves.

They will be good for overflow seating but I would not recommend these as permanent seating.

They are low enough (with out legs) to be placed in front of a regular chair with out obstructing.

I already place them in the dedicated room, but had not used them yet. I'll come back once I had some time with these, but as for now they are good.

Could an adult use this chair?

I have black theater seats. These chairs LOOK black, but they are described as dark brown. Would they GO with black seating???

this chair is a very dark brown, but not black. It is a fairly wide and comfortable. I'm 5'6" 160lbs and they are pretty comfortable, I would say that maybe someone over 6' might have an issue with the seat being low not as far as space.

Some more pics and on these you can see the comparison to true black fabric.

In this first set the chairs are as ottomans under the screen.

Superleo,

Could you estimate how wide the arm rests are?

Are you still happy with the seats?

I was thinking about getting a couple of these, using black vinyl dye to make them black, and adding a cup holder in each arm depending on the width...

Thanks,

Thanks so much for your photos & review of these chairs from Sears. This will help many folks in their search for addition theater chairs.

Just love the AVS Forum, so many helpful fellow members!

No estimation needed, here is the actual wideness.

They work perfectly as overflow seating, of course there is always room for improvements, such as, like you mentioned cup holder, reclining and It would be really perfect if it had a head rest ... but even the way they are, they are OK, not the best seat in the house but work perfect as additional seating.

I'm not very handy or have the ingenuity as some of you guys... I don't see how you would incorporate cup holders to these, IMO the arm rest are not wide enough, but just like I say I don't think it can be done, someone here must be saying, sure easy does it!!!

Anyway here are the pictures, you decide.

I bought one of the 2 in 1 Gaming Chairs mentioned above from Wal-Mart using their Site to Store shipping service. It took about a week to arrive.

The chair was a dark brown color. I bought several cans of Rustoleum Vinyl Paint and coated the chair a nice flat black. It is very durable, not like paint at all, and doesn't flake or rub off.

I WANTED to add a recessed cup holder in the arm to match my other "real" seating, but the arm just wasn't wide enough. I did add some collapsible can holders attached with 4 screws to each side. These are adjustable and passed the kid test!

The chair can be used either sitting directly on the floor, or you can attach included wooden legs that raise the chair about 6" off the floor. I wanted the extra height, because with the height even an adult can use this chair. But I didn't like the look of the legs, since it didn't match my other chairs...

I cut some 1/4" plywood panels, covered them in black vinyl, and attached them to the chair legs to give it more of a matching look to my Coaster Pavillion theater chairs.

All in all I'm pleased with this "mini chair", and plan on buying a 2nd one. Now to attach some mini shakers to these...!

It looks awesome... and very ingenious on the cup holders.

Did you take the chair apart to paint it? I'm pretty sure of the answer, but still have to ask.

I might do this to mine... It looks very good.

Thanks! Seeing your chairs and reading your posts made me bite the bullet.

I tried to fit a recessed cup holder in that skinny arm, but every time I'd almost make contact with my hole saw I'd get chicken! I just didn't know what the sub structure looked like...

I didn't take the chair apart at all. I just painted it first closed up as an ottoman, then opened it up and painted it as a chair. I gave it several coats.

To be honest, until a few months ago I didn't realize that people use this stuff to paint car seats, boat seats, etc. It turned out much better than I thought it would.

The only problem I have with this cup holder design is that the little half-height soda cans don't work well, and that's the size our little one usually drinks.

I'm serious about adding the small Aura 25 watt shakers! They will be just the right size.

Sorry to post an incomplete information piece, but I was in Reno, NV Costco today (in a hurry) and they have what looked to me like the original thread item back in stock. I didn't get pictures but will if someone else doesn't post first. Salesman said they were listed in inventory as a new item and priced at $139. Looked like very nice quality. Black color.

I had originally wanted the Costco chair but could not find them (I even contacted the manufacturer!), but after purchasing the 2 in 1 gaming chair from Walmart, and having it shipped free using their Site to Store program, I am very pleased with my purchase. The chairs only cost $69.99...seem to be well made, relatively comfortable, and serve their intended purpose of "out of the way" overflow seating.

For those that purchased the original Costco chairs and the subsequent ones from Target, Sear, Bed,Bath and Beyond, etc. I'm just wondering how they're holding up? Are they still structurally sound or getting loose and falling apart? How is the finish doing?

Here in Canada Sears sells the brown vinyl version for $130 and I've been considering it but it's much more expensive the the prices people are quoting from the US.

The cost co chairs are great and no issues. My father in law and grandkids like them because they are lower to the ground than HT chairs. I like them for blankets and the kids toy storage.

I am looking for two of these chairs, but everyone seems to be out. I see mention above that Sears and BBB carry them, but I cannot find them searching these sites... any clues on the item or search term (tried - gaming, 2 in 1, ottoman, but no luck).

The local Sams, Target, costco, walmart all do not seem to have them either.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link, but Sears canada will not let you ship to USA or USA stores. As I am in Texas, that is a looong drive.
Babies-r-us Canada has the chair in a darker color, but they also will not ship to the US.

Can anyone tell me where I can get one or two of those ottoman/chairs that were at one time sold at costco?

Javatime

I believe they will have them available, but probably not until the summer. It's like going to home depot in the fall/winter and they have many gas/electric fireplaces as you walk in the door. But come spring/summer, not a trace to be found. Doesn't help you out now, but try costco in about 4-5 months. I think it's seasonal with these chairs; I got mine around July and by the end of summer they were gone.

Has anyone seen the black Costco ottoman/chair show up again?

How about these Monarch Micro Fibre EZ-Loungers (http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-furniture-chairs-recliners-New-EZ-Lounger-Call-705-735-3344-W0QQAdIdZ301765958#) as an alternative? I believe in the US they are sold at Meijers stores. Has anyone sat in one of these? Even though they have no armrests they look more comfortable (much more padded) than your typical gaming chair.

Happy Trails!

Costco does one time buys on this stuff. One shipment, and when it is gone, it is gone forever.

Also, it seems that the best time for furniture at Costco is right after Christmas.
