View Full Version : Perfect Front-Row Overflow Seating found at Costco?

I can't find this anywhere on the 'net, so I can't post a picture, but today at Costco I found what is, for me anyway, the perfect solution for front-row occasional overflow seating.

I have two black leather sofas for my HT seating, one located in front of the other (which is on a riser). Being a basement theater, there are several fleece blankets often left cluttering the space - there's nowhere to put them away. We've been contemplating a black leather storage ottoman from Overstock.com to place in front of the front couch, and store the blankets in it.

Occasionally, we have a crowd down there, and have a need for a low-to-the-ground front row of seating. The storage ottoman would be in the way, and is too high and not comfortable enough for a two-hour movie.

I've experimented with the AK Rocker as a low-to-the-ground front row chair, but it was too tall, blocking the bottom of the screen for those seated on the sofas. Some folks here on the forum have found the iJoy chairs to be effective, but they're a bit pricey.

So here's what I found: the tag says True Seating "Entertainer" convertible ottoman/chair with storage, $159.99. Item number is 167659. It is a black leather ottoman, and it has a flip-up backrest which can turn it into a small chair. And when the seatback is flipped up, the seat (where your rear goes) can be flipped up to reveal a small storage compartment, just big enough for one or two of our fleece blankets.

So for me, the great advantages are:

black leather to match the sofas
an ottoman for use by those on front sofa
a low-to-the-ground, not-too-high seat for occasional use
storage for those fleece blankets, so they're not left strewn about the theater

Can't say the price is ideal, especially since I would consider getting three of them.

Sorry I can't post a picture... if anybody out there finds a pic, please share so readers can get a better sense of what I'm talking about!

Not on the website.

I was thinking about picking up 2 AK rockers tonight. Are they really that tall?

ND23
12-13-06, 06:10 PM
If I recall correctly, it was about 34" tall when someone isn't sitting in it... when someone sits in it, they naturally recline back (rocking the chair backward), which lessens the height, and the chair is no longer in the way of the viewers behind.

So, when someone is not seated in it (which is most of the time), that headrest at the top of the AK Rocker was blocking the bottom of the screen, even for viewers seated on the rear couch on the riser. It was worse for those seated in the front couch.

We tried putting a heavy pillow on the AK Rocker when it was not in use, carefully rocking it back and positioning the pillow so the weight would keep it reclined. Definitely not an ideal solution.

I think I could probably position the ak's to the side in such a way not to block the screen. I'm probably still gonna grab 2 to at least try them out.

I felt like I left you guys hanging, so I took my camera into Costco today and snapped two pics: one of the marketing materials from the side of the box, and one of the chair they had assembled and out on the floor.

Yes, I sat in it. Definitely not the plushest seat ever, but comfortable enough... I could probably make it through a two-hour movie in it. Fairly small, definitely good for kids or smaller adults. Doesn't recline, of course.

What I don't know is if it is low enough to the ground for an adult to sit in it, and not have his/her head block the screen for those seated behind him/her.

I'm hoping to get three in time for the Super Bowl party.

I just bought all 6 at my local Costco. Boy, I really needed something like these, as I run out of seating so fast on those big movie nights. It looks like this will be a Costco exclusive, since the Costco Item # is on the box and inside on all the literature. These will definately go really quick as when I was waiting for the lift-truck to get mine down from the top shelf (about 45 mins) I saw every other person wanting this item, checking out the demo model, sitting in it and looking for the boxed ones, which were on my cart. :)~
They are going to sell a ton of these, just not sure how many were produced for Costco, and it's not on their website (yet..).

p.s. They are not just for kids, I am over 250 lbs and it is very comfortable for me for at least 2-3 hours.

Also, sorry ND, I can't give you credit for finding these for me, as my Mom was at her Costco in Redding, CA this morning and called me to say I should look at these. As I searched google for it I saw your post, and you are right, there are no pictures on the web anywhere, even the mfg's website is down. But hey, thanks for posting the pics as that motivated me to get off my butt and drive down to get these at my local Costco.

Just called my costco, and they have 16 on hand. I am going to check them out tonight. Depending on how they look and feel, maybe 4-5 of these could fit the bill for a riser behind my four Coaster showtimes. I have wanted something smaller and non reclining (and non-cost prohibitive!) to back there. I only have about 4-5 feet from the wall to the back of my couches, so these would probably fit the bill.

I will post my thoughts when I get back!

www.trueseating.com but it is blank.

I went to the internet wayback machine and it has been down since 2003. You can see their old site there. They must only deal with costco and office depot etc..

34" inches closed seems tall for an ottoman? But otherwise if the dimensions work those are awesome! Just what I was looking for to add some capacity to the theater. You guys know this forum is bad for my bank account! :p

That was the height of the AK rocker he was talking about. This seat, when closed is a bit shorter than that. I haven't measured yet, they are still sitting in the back of my truck!

Yep, I went and picked up four of them! They look like they will be great! We will use them for second row seating on a riser. They fit the bill well, they aren't too wide, nor too long. They don't recline, so we can put them behind the reclining showtimes without a problem! I will try to take pictures before too long.... I just need to get my riser built! :D

Some of you might be interested in a microfiber gaming chair at Staples . They are onsale for 79 bucks right now . Think of a low chair with a back that folds down . I liked that idea as I could stack them away in a closet and take them out when I needed that extra row of seating . The price was 120 a few weeks back but they just lowered it to 98 and onsale now for 79 .

I emailed trueseating and asked about the availability of the ottoman at other retailers, this is the response.

This is only being sold at Costco. Unfortunately there are no other stores carrying this item.
Our website is in the process of being created.

Unfortunately we do not sell direct.

Tried them out today, my costco had 6. I am 6' 185lbs and they are quite comfortable for me. Better than the spare folding chairs I pull out that is for sure. It is an easy way to add another row. The only downside I could see is that they are more expensive than regular ottomans or the normal rocker style excess seating, but they are much nicer as well.

YES, i sat in them on friday night. VERY COMFORTABLE, for me anyway. 5'11" @ 192 lbs. match up pretty nice to my leather power recliners. but with xmas time at hand, i could not afford the $160/chair pricetag. but if i could, these would fit the 'bill'. very nice items.

Picked up 2 of these tonight. Fit the bill perfectly. Very sturdily built and actually pretty heavy. They are now sitting off to the side in my theater holding our fleece blankets but can be moved easily to create a kid/teen "first row" when we need the extra seats.

These chairs are nice nice nice. At the checkout, the two workers said they'd have to take a break and go each grab a chair. I'm so glad I waited and didn't get video-game style seating. Few, if any have mentioned it, but the compartment is a nice perk to hold remotes, magazines, or in my case, my son's Thomas the Tank trains!

I'd highly reccommend checking these out!

I just picked up two of these, and they're well worth the money.

Drive a decent sized car to pick them up from Costco. They didn't fit in my trunk, so I had to take them out of the box and stuff them into my back/passenger seats.

Closed, they sit about an inch or two higher than the Berkline 090s, but match pretty well in terms of style.

Open, they're nice comfortable seats even for above-average sized people.

I'm gonna look at these tomorrow probably, but a question....

Open - are these low enough for overflow seating in the front? Will I have any problem seeing over the heads of the people sitting in these things?

They don't look lower than AK rockers in the pics I've seen. I'm still not sure which way I'm leaning. I can get 2 rockers and have some change left over for the price of one of these seats.

Seatback Down (As ottoman): h 21" x d 22" x w 27"

Seatback Up (As chair): h 33 1/2" x d 29" x w 27"

Hmmmmmm well after poking around with the tape measure and the above dimensions for the closed "just used for storage" mode as an ottoman I might only be able to fit one of these in my small room off to one of the side walls... maybe a second one up against the front wall but I really would like to keep that area clear.

Adding one would help with storage and add a fourth seat fo me though - which would be nice anyway.

Will check tomorrow or Friday - Costco near me had 16 in stock yesterday. :)

EDIT:

Ok I picked up one of these today - I havent unpacked it yet - it might have to be wrapped and be a "Santa" gift - lest the wife give me the evil brow for this yet another impulse buy of mine for the HT. :)

I am really hoping that I can fit 2 of these in my room - I will wait until I see how this one fits in before comitting to a second one. Like a lot of Costco items - I wonder if the stock on these will eventually dry up and no longer be avaliable. Sometimes seems that Costco stuff disappears eventually never to be seen again in the store.

I was very impressed once I saw it in person at Costco - great construction and quite heavy - it is no flimsy seat thats for sure. Storage is a huge bonus! It is quite comfortabe too! Easily would work for a 2 hour movie or more even... if someone had a non-reclining front row seating this could be perfect to put your feet up and double as an extra row of seating when needed.

It does "appear" smaller in person than the dimensions would have you believe. But when you sit in it it feels like a mini theater seat! :) The only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect is if one of the armrests had a cupholder in it.

The nicest thing about these IMHO that justifies its cost is that when you don't need it as a seat it can sit off to the side and not be intrusive.
Thanks again for finding and posting this find!

Wow... quiet in here today.. Maybe you all are at Costco? ;)

OK - here are a few real life pics. The red seats there are Berkline 088's for those looking for a size reference. I am VERY pleased. Still on the fence about getting a second one as I don't want the room to be too cluttered. The seat bottom is not that much lower than the 088's, so i am not sure how it would work to be directly in front of someone there...

:D

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c148/pcrx/Seat002.jpg

As you can see - its not a small thing, but not overpowering too, especially when folded up against the wall there - leaves plenty enough room to walk by to get to my gear in the back there. If I added a second one - it would have to be "stored" against the opposite wall - closer to the front.

I purchased five of these, I'm using them as my theater seats.

I'm building a twelve inch tall platform for the two seats I'll have in the back row and I'll have three in the front row on a five to six inch platform, I may add christmas lights around the border of platforms somewhat hidden as to have some light as so people will not trip over them as my whole theater room is done in black, walls, ceilings and even the carpet, should work out perfect for my apartment set-up.

They are very comfortable, not as comfortable as recliners but I'm going for the theater look so I'll sacrifice for the full effect.

I love Costco.

Those seats look great! Wish that my costco had them.

A differrent seat is available at Target. $20. ea. Its a very low rocking chair. Would be great for kids. I sat in it for about 10 minutes (6'3" 240#) and it felt comfortable.

You wouldn't want to leave the target seats out all of the time (red or black color) but, they store in about 3" space. Might shove them under other seats??

I will take photos if someone else doesn't post some

Well, I just got back from Costco, and now I have two of the "Entertainers" for my HT room. They will be set off to the side until I need extra seeting. These rock (um...not back and forth, rock as in "awesome") - I just picked up 3 of them today from Costco. Had to pony up a $50 membership to do it, so I guess technically they ran me $175+ apiece, but they're perfect for what I needed. My theater is 14' 8" square, and can seat 5 across, but it's too small for a second row of full size seats (especially since I have an older Panny LC75u projector built before they figured out how to eliminate pixel structure on LCDs). These are perfect - I replaced my existing coffee table with two of them side by side (so people sitting on my sofa can put their feet up). Then, for my Superbowl party, I'll have seating for 8 in there when I add the third one (currently sitting there unobtrusively in "Ottoman mode" next to my subwoofer).

For comfort purposes - I'm 6' 2" tall, and about 195 lbs; these seats are comfortable enough to watch a double feature in for me; I just watched that miserable Saints/Bears game in one of them *sigh*. My wife likes them because she's one of those weirdos who doesn't like leather seating, and the seating surfaces on this are padded mesh. My one year old likes them because they're not hard wood like my old cocktail table was. My four year old likes them because he can jump from them to the couch and back without getting yelled at, and he likes playing in the boxes they came in. Bonus - they match my existing theater seating.

I just took mine back. Everytime someone came over I found myself sitting in the back row, and I just decided I wanted something with higher back, and more plush feeling. I ended up getting a black leather couch, overstuffed style. Fits on my riser will. Not alot of room between front row and back, but the couch really lets you just sink in, so there doesn't seem to really be a need for an ottoman even. Also lets ya watch laying down, family room style! Yesterday I found myself gravitating to the back row, foregoing the showtime seats even!

Costco seats are great for what they are, overflow seats, and they look great. Just seemed like I was always sitting back there!

I actually bought two seats at costco that were very similar to these, my kids are using them in the loft. They can be easily brought into the theater if needed. The costco ones were $99 though. Might need to check these out at Staples, save myself another fourty bucks! Here are the before and after pics of my theater.

Theater on a budget? If you can make them fit, I would do showtimes, or a nice couch rather than these. For extra seating, these are nice. For regular use.... not so much. Just my opinion.

Just visited Costco @ Brentwood, TN. That had five of them. I'm not a member, but got a visitor's pass just to try out the chair. I'm 5' 5" and am used to a theater seat with a higher back--somewhere to rest my head. These were neat, comfortable, but unless I slouched, there was no place to rest my head. For children, they would be great. I like the design and the storege under the seat. And if there was a popup head rest, like some car seats have, it would be perfect.

But I personally passed on them...

Costco does have the chairs, they are called "Viper Game Chair." They are made by Berkline but do not say so on the box, the customer support phone number inside the box was Berkline. Before Christmas they were $99, I paid $75 in January. In all of the Costco's here they only came in Blue or Grey (not red) and there was only 1 skew for both colors.

When I was looking for multiples in the same color I was told the regional warehouse did not have anymore.

Would you happen to have the Costco item number available to post? If you still have your receipt, perhaps it would be on there? It would make it easy for us to call our local warehouse about availability.

The Costco item number is 951004. You should be able to have you local Costco check inventories in other local stores. That is how I ended up getting matching colors (had to then call the other store and have them look to see which colors they had).

They are very comfortable and have made great front row seats for me. The only dissapointment are that they do not recline back. Also, they are large, box is at least 2-4x larger than the other Costco chair with the storage underneath.

I think the most beneficial factor for me was the fact that these red chairs are low enough that people on the sofa in the back row can see over them without the aid of a riser. My theater only has 6 1/2 foot ceilings so a riser was an unfavorable option.

Comfort level. These are not expensive chairs, however at 6'1 and around 260 I fit comfortably into them with no complaints. They seem well constructed though I would like to find a suitable footrest in the future. But for now they are fine, and they are pretty impressive looking. The arch below the chair makes for a handy hide-a-way spot for Xbox controllers and remotes.

Now I'm off to find a permanent back row to match the front!

Would any of you that own these costco seats recommend them to someone with a theater on a budget situation?

Or would a futon couch be more comfortable?

(Talking about "The Entertainer" chairs from Costco) I wouldn't have gotten these as "primary seating" for my theater; these are purely "overflow" seating with the secondary "ottoman for my sofa" and tertiary "storage" functions. You can't sprawl out in these chairs, they're not designed for it. But they are comfortable enough for a good sized dude with a couple beers and some nachos in him for an entire superbowl :D

On the flip side, I've yet to see a comfortable futon. Caveat - I'm lying, I HAVE seen a comfortable futon, but the price rivaled/exceeded that of a comfortable sofa; if it don't got inner springs, it ain't comfortable.

I liked the idea of these Entertainers, but don't have a costco. Put in the call to my aunt in Billings (six hours away), she had my uncle (who at 6'+ is quite a bit taller than me) sit in them and he was very comfortable. They picked up three of them for me, I'll probably have them ground-shipped to me out here. I'm not too worried, if he was comfortable in them I definitely should be, we're rather short people here at my house so these things should fit the bill. Even if they don't work out as primary seats they'll be perfect for overflow. Looking forward to getting them.

I took measurements, to the inch they're the same size as some chairs I've been using in my theater for a while now (fabric overstock armchairs) so these Entertainers should be perfect.

On the flip side, I've yet to see a comfortable futon.

A comedian once said of a Futon:
"An uncomfortable couch that folds down into an uncomfortable bed."

I have to agree.

I only said futon because that's what I'm using now (temp I hope). But I would like something a little more "home theater" like. So does any one know of something in between the Entertainer seats and the Showtime seats as far as price? Money is tight but my desire is huge.

BTW, one other observation about "The Entertainer" Costco chairs; I was shocked at how heavy they are for their size. I'm hoping that's just "nice sturdy construction". They are a brute to move - I like to keep two of them in front of my couch as a footrest with the other unobtrusively stashed against the wall, and then when we have a big group in, I slide them over a bit and put the third one in place next to them. And until I hit on the idea of "flip them on their side and slide them in place", it was a total gruntfest.

Be prepared when you get ready to pick them up...(or ship them).

Wow three staples around us and I could only find one of these chairs and that was the floor model. Got it for $79.99. I can not find any on the web, not even e-bay. I'd like to get two more.

Here are a few pictures to compair it ti the rocker 200. As for comfort a like the cusion on the red chair but I like the way the rocker reclines back. The rocker is easier to see the screen when you are up close to it. The chair from staples you need to look up.

Wish me luck finding two more.

I really can't tell if the hight of these chairs is ideal yet because I am still using a futon until I get my theater. Sitting back on the futon these chairs are still a little too high but if I sit up it's perfect. I hope this helps some people.

I bought 3 of the red/black chairs from Staples today, and they are really nice. Surprisingly comfortable and padded for $79. It's also nice how you are not sitting right on the floor like some of the chairs out there. I did a lot of calling around, and had to go to 2 different stores to get 3. I was told they were a promotional item for Christmas, and would not be getting any more in. That's why they're on clearance now.

Good news, the mother in law found one yesterday for me in PA. I'm going to call every store in Delaware today to try locate a third one. I am really starting to love this chair, maybe someone at staples will realize the demand and start selling them again.

Everyone call your local Staples and ask for it.

I noticed when I was at Staples, one of the chairs was broken, so I couldn't buy it. That's why I had to go to a second store. Anyway, what happened to it was the metal rod(that acts as the pivot point for backrest) fell off and was inside the chair rattling around. I hope this isn't going to be a common problem with these chairs. Just something to keep an eye on. Also, when I called the first Staples store, the lady was able to check on the computer for me to see which stores had any in stock. I still called the store to verify, but it saved me from wasting a lot of time on the phone.

Call me lucky, crazy or just in love with these chairs. I reported earlier that my mother in law found me one in PA. Well after checking every Staples in Delaware I met her in Lancaster and got the chair from her. While in Lancaster I stopped at the Staples there and got a list of every store with in a 50 mile radius and was able to get three more making my total to 5. After bringing them all downstairs my room really started to look like a movie theater. I am still waiting for my tax check to order my Berklines for the back row but these work for now. I think I am done looking for these chairs. Good Luck to any who are still looking.

New project I decided to do with these chairs. They are missing a cup holder and when sitting in them the snack trays sit too high. MY plans are to build wedge shaped boxes to be place between each chair and to install a cup holder in the fronts and maybe a storage compartment near the back. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Sevker
03-08-07, 11:43 AM
I like that idea.

I have played with the idea of affixing a shelf-like piece of wood on the side of the chair, then adding a cup holder so that it was a permanent attachment. Never got around to it though.

I'm now really cranky about missing out on this deal. I can't find the iRocker locally to see how that feels, and I don't like the iJoy at all. Not to mention the price difference.

My problem is I have a narrow theater, at 12' and with the side "aisle" I am left with just around 7' to try an fit three seats. (I have three kids) I may end up going with the Coaster Matinee seats just because they fit, but am leaning more towards a couch setup.

I would have loved to go with these seats for the kids, and put them away when it is just the wife and I (most of the time), then go with two nice chairs up on the rear riser. Now I will go with a couch on the rear riser for the kids, and guests.

Came across this thread while looking for reviews about TrueSeating furniture before I bought some of their office-type chairs from Sam's Club. Alas, Sam's had ottomans before but that was like 2 years ago. If you want warehouse clubs like Costco or Sam's Club to carry items, you should fill out the customer comment form so that the main office can track demand.

Looking up more info about Trueseating, they are part of True North America with offices in Tustin, California as of whatever date the following post was in google's cache. TNA's company logo then was the same as what TrueSeating uses now so it must be related.

The company is apparantly from China and has offices in China, HK, and California. An old posting from them had a california address (unverified) at:

Company: True North America
Address: 2722 Walnut Avenue
City: Tustin
State: California

Country: USA
Phone: 714 368-7464
Fax: 714 368-7479

The current contact info included with the chairs I just bought from them is:

Oscar: That's a nice choice as it is versatile furniture with an ottoman, a chair, and a storage unit.
you: but the price seems high.. do you guys discount any more? Costco had these for 160.00 a while ago.
Oscar: We do offer Best Price Guarantee for the items. Let me explain that to you.
Oscar: To satisfy the Best Price Guarantee credit:
Oscar: The product must be purchased from Overstock.com.
Oscar: The product must be the exact same make, model, and color purchased at Overstock.com.
Oscar: The merchant offering the lower price must have the product currently in stock.
Oscar: The online merchant must be an established site, as determined by Overstock.com.
Oscar: Applies to total price of purchase--including shipping, taxes and other charges that may apply.

Any thing similar to this?

I am going to need a few extra seats this Christmas, I may resort to the gaming rockers and keep them in the attic when not in use.

Ok, so I'm not sure if it is confirmed yet but I believe Costco is purchasing a model of the Entertainer with a cup holder. Also as a side note the Overstock.com one will soon be off line as they are infringing on our patents and selling our chair under a different brand name at a ridiculous price.

Ill keep you guys updated as soon as I find out more.

Chase, so it sounds like this will be a new chair that is debuting in July? Any pictures? Color options? PRICE???
I could use three or four more for my front, third row. I am sure they are more comfy than bean bags. ;)

I got two (so far) of the X-rocker type seats from Target awhile back at $99 each. I wasn't really concerned with the internal amplifers/speakers because I've got more of that than I need already, but to be honest, the seats do pretty well as stand alone speakers and the little 4" "subs" built into the backs are not bad either. Their is a bass gain control for adjusting them as well as overall volume. They may be a little tall for some folks to use as front row, but I'm building a small deck that will give me just enough boost that the seatbacks shouldn't be a problem.

Note the seats are sitting on the floor in front of the sofa (or high-class dog and cat furniture as it is otherwise known) in this temporary configuration awaiting indoor construction of dedicated theater.

Ceilings are eight foot and I project from top of ceiling to about halfway down the wall until I get to the chair rail. My wife thinks the X-rocker chairs sit a little low. Wants me to build a small pedestal for then to sit a bit higher. Not sure I would have thought of that, but I'm going to give it a try. Like I noted, the back row of the dedicated build will be elevated enough to allow me to play. I'd like to either get a third X-rocker, or an honest to god automotive racing seat for the middle of the bottom row (I would couple it to my XBOX 360 wheel and pedal assembly. Then I'd be in the market for something that would feedback into the seat the vibrations from the controller (so you'd feel like you were going over the road bumps at least - nothing super hydraulic).

Here's the photo of the Xrockers as they appear in my living room for now.

Here's my progress on the outdoor deck/theater I started Oct 6, 2007 as well as forum link

I actually used something like that at a get together here. The backs are too high for in front of the front row. They can be used only to the sides and not block the sight lines in my room..

So that means I have my 3 low profile (Red/Black Staples) chairs up for grabs. Any reasonable offer accepted, Pickup only North Central IL.

This month's HT magazine (a much slimmer version of the magazine I might add :( ) has the Salamander Design's take on this Ottoman. It starts at $899 (MSRP) and goes up from their. It also looks nowhere near as comfortable as the Costco one. Plus I understand it has limited storage.

$900 for an ottoman? Leather or not.... YIKES!

ChaseM - if you still check this thread.... You should figure out a way to sell "The Entertainer" on Amazon if you could find a reasonably priced way to ship them. I'm sure they would sell once word got out. I'd buy a couple of shipping was reasonable.

I am considering getting two pairs of seats like these for a total of four seats. I would mount them on a plate of some sort so I could move them out of the theater when not in use.
Has anyone thought about doing this, or better yet is anyone doing this right now??

Hello,
Did anyone who purchsed these "groovy" chairs find a manufacture's name & model number while you were unpacking them ?

I emailed BBB & asked if they will be selling the chair again & if not, I asked for mfg contact info. I do appreciate them responding, dated 9/23/08 ...

"Thank you for your patience. This item was carried in limited stores and is currently marked down to$59.99. It is possible that we will carry it again, but at this time we are uncertain of the possible date. We are out of stock online, you may be able to get this item at your local store or the store may be able to transfer the item from another location. The width of the seating area is 18.5". I am going to pick mine up today, so I'll let you know if I find anything. Hopefully they will be good quality and not fall apart. Mine came from the Houston area, and they had a few left when they transferred them.

edit:
So, I finally picked the ottomans up today. They are the exact same as the black ones from True Seating. At least they look like it, but they are a tan microfiber instead.
It says from China and it looks like the wholesale company who brought them in is Kinfine USA.
Not really any other details than that.

On a side note, they may be a little too high to put in front of a recliner/couch. It depends on how high your screen is, and the height of your main seating obviously.
Anyways, they seem pretty nice for the price, $60, and BBB let me use a 20% off coupon from linens-n-things.

I’d love to snag a few of these, but until I actually start the theater they’re of no use to me.

In the past, I’ve used the low to the ground beach chairs for occasions when extra seating was required. No trouble seeing over them from the couch, and they’re reasonably comfortable… even recline a bit if you want. No problem sitting through a movie or ball game on them. And they're easy to store... just be sure to knock the sand off of 'em before you bring them into the house (I'll only make that mistake once )

Lately I’ve been pondering a DIY version of these ottomans. With all the talent around here, I’m surprised nobody has gone that route yet. I’m thinking a fold-down boat seat, inside an MDF frame, a little upholstery, and there you go. Lot's of possibilities.
