Looks like we finally are gonna get 5.1 Dolby Digital Out, but only from DVD's ?

Well, it looks like "ripped" DVD's (.ts, .iso) also get the benefit, which is worthy of upgrading...

This is all well and good, but I think I'm going to wait for CenterStage. :)

Just got an email about this and now I'm finally excited about the program.

2.5 SUCKS BIG TIME.......

1. remote no longer controls program if program is not the front most selected app. This means if you want to browse safari while someone else uses MediCentral on connected TV...they will not be able to control the app while you browse. Previously this was possible.

2. Video files (.mp4, .mpeg, .avi) no skip ever so slightly. If you watch a video file of these formats you will see about every 30 secs a small hickup in the video. This was not the case in previous versions.

3. The app seems to load colors or background very slowly now...as after the app starts (or after you exit a video file) you can watch the background go in steps to reach your correct color selected in prefs. Previous versions were smooth transitions.

anyone have a working link to 2.4?
and side note.....MediaCentral is definitly the best app for one reason: it seems to be the only app were somebody is working on constant updates. iTheater and Centerstage, and iFlix, and a few others have not had any decent updates in half a year or more.

Sounds interesting. What does it use to play the DVD & TS files? DVD Player?

How quick is it?

I'd love to hear some feedback from some of those that have bought it (recently).

Thanks,

At least the optical output on a Mini works now. Interface is very responsive. I'd like to be able to directly access a VIDEO_TS directory from the "Movies" selection; as it is you have to go through "DVDs". Worst "feature" is that MediaCentral still does a lousy job of playing back HD Divx files that run without a hitch under VLC or Quicktime. SD Divx seems to run okay.

I don't care for the icons, but that's purely a matter of taste. I won't be buying until it can handle HD Divx properly.

I am new to this forum... and an recent supporter of this application. Thought I's share some insights..

I think the HD playback is more the hardware issue already, as this playback in this media center is already on top of the processing of the software instead...

In any case i dont encounter any skipping on my movies...

Some screenshots...

Thought I's share a couple of screenshots :)

Here's how my desktop would look with Mediacentral in window mode (bear in mind this is on a 22-inch widescreen screen)
