has anyone tried out the Yamaha yht9505xm ??

Best buy has in onsale for $799 CAD. It looks like the most decent and high quality HTIB that I've seen at the department stores.

I was hoping that someone on here had some experience with and could give me some feedback before I make a purchase decision.

You can view the specs at yamaha website

I'm looking for a high quality HTIB. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

I am wondering the same thing.

On boxing day I purchased Best Buy's Yamaha/Infinity package (receiver HTRN5060, speakers PrimusSPK8) and am not too impressed. I am now looking for an alternative.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the receiver is pretty darn good. I got a good lecture from someone at A&B Sound about receivers, and this one is the HTR5950B (the lower end of Yamaha's receivers) and it's really close to their RXV459 (which is what the A&B Sound rep. suggested for a receiver that is upgradeable, like has lot of inputs etc, and affordable). The difference between HTR and RXV is minimal, they have the same watts per channel and the same amount of harmonic distortion (0.06% THD).

In fact, clicking on specs for both HTR and RXV receivers is IDENTICAL! It's just the extra capabilities make the price difference....

..so we know the avr is good... But how do the speakers sound! I searched everywhere on the web and couldn't find anything. I can't find what models the speakers are either. BestBuy.ca has shipping only as an option, I went to Yahama.ca and got 30 different dealers phone #'s and I will call tomorrow and see if they carry the 9505xm so I can go in and listen to it! I'd rather buy in store 'cause usually you can swing a deal (except with BestBuy, they don't work on commission)

EDIT: --Er maybe it's closer to the FP9500 speaker package..

Okay, just looked harder ;)

Seems ths YHT9505XM package is the HTR5950B receiver and black versions of the NS-FP4600 speakers. The receiver is well reviewed (4-5/5) and speakers were 3.5-4.5/5 on average from what I saw. Assuming this is a good starter system. Just wanna get it for <799!

Costco Canadian stores has the YHT9505XM system for sale at $699. Their model number is YHTC9505XM (I supooses the "C" is for Costco production run).

I was going to buy this, and I was wondering if you purchased it already and if you are happy with the system?

I saw this at Costco too. Seems to sound okay. Limited to component connections only and the inputs are few as well. Price is certainly right!
