OK, so we split the sheets. I got the home theatre, she got the washer and dryer and a computer and car. I keep getting all these calls bugging me about the old, broken equipment she has. So I just want to get her the cheapest all in one system to get her off of my case. Like a dvd/vcr/fm/ntsc tuner/speakers, etc. to plug into the old Sony crt (that has a bad tuner and audio circuit). I saw this Insignia setup at Best Buy for $129, but I thought there might be a better deal. :D

ps, I'm serious

Tell her to pack sand, and change your phone number.

Durabrand from walmart is always a top quality inexpensive choice :).

Hadn't thought about Durabrand. Thanks :p .

Truly, though, nothing worse than an OCD home theatre enthusiast having to find the best low ball deal! I did go and wander around Walmart looking at things today. Found myself wondering about how similar the $50 Emerson, Magnavox and Philps DVD/VCR players were. Identical plastic cases. How nifty

So it doesn't matter to me if it is looking at $1k + components, or sub-$100 HTIB for the ex, I still have to look at the gear from all of the angles. Methinks half the fun of this hobby is just the pursuit. :o

I'd head to a local swap meet or flee market. -_-

You are a very gracious person otherwise :)

Actually, I'm going to go check out the pawn shops next. That's where I got the dual cassette player that she kept (I gave it to her for a present). I found a nice Yamaha K-98 at the Goodwill for $5 to replace it. Goodwill is actually a great place to shop after Christmas as people recycle a lot of functional replaced equipment there.

Hook her up with a dual cassette deck, turntable and 8 track player. Inform her that
"retro" is in thing right now...

Heh, I've seen those Durabrands at Walmart. Every one of them on the shelf is taped up, like it was a post holiday return. :p

Yeah, a Durabrand is like $60, or Target's version, Tru-Tech, is $80. I think the company that makes them is Lenoxx or Funai or something, and Durabrand is just Walmart's front end brand.

There's also one for $40 on Walmart's site. No disc player, and I think it doesn't even decode 5.1, just shoves the same mono sound out of all five speakers.

To me it sounds like your glad she's still calling.....

I have never been married but my number one priority would have been changing my phone number.

LOL... you cheap, you go deep! Spend the extra $50 and get something that won't break in the first day.

Call her up and tell her about the old broken car you have and ask her to buy you a new one.

Not trying to be mean, but seriously. She is your ex wife for a reason I presume, AND it sounds like she ALREADY got everything. I see no reason why you should break down and give her everything she wants, especially since you no longer have ties with her (unless you have kids). If you keep giving in, she will keep coming back to suck more money out of you. I have seen it happen to too many good people, really sad how they let their ex walk all over them after divorce.
