heheh.....my PS3 investment is looking better and better everyday. The announced titles on hidefdigest.com's front page look pretty good...I'll be getting most of these titles on BR instead of regular dvd.

This one may be the title that forces me to "diversify" in this format war (as a current owner of an HD-A1).

HD-DVD better get on the ball and start releasing some hit titles if they expect to keep their edge. Kudos to Blu-Ray for this nabbing this one.

Yay, I haven't seen it but always wanted to. A definite blind Blu-ray purchase for my birthday!

I'm really happy it's coming home so soon. Didn't really know what to expect when I went to see it, but I was definitely pleased -- one of the more enjoyable movies I saw this year.

Does anyone know which encoding format that they will be using on this title? AVC mpeg4? VC-1? mpeg2?

Was this better than The Illusionist? Because that one made me fall asleep.

IMHO, and several of my friends agree, this was the best movie released last year, and yes I saw the Departed and just about everything else you can throw at me, Flags of our fathers, letters from iwo jima and everything else you can throw at me. This movie was just amazing.

I haven't seen the Illusionist but The Prestige, as the poster above said, was my favorite film of 2006 for me. I loved it.

Agreed. Although I loved the Departed, this one got the nod from me. Can't wait to see it in high def in less than 2 weeks!

I'd certainly hope that it will be high bitrate VC-1 with PCM :) .

One of my personal favorites. A must have when it comes out in two weeks!

MUCH MUCh better. I didn't care for The Illusionist either, but this one is excellent.

I liked the Illusionist, this movie was a lot darker and I liked it more. But both were good films I think.

Saw both, liked both, but the Prestige was hands down better and I have had my Amazon preorder in for weeks and weeks and weeks........

I also had my preorder in for weeks, but I also bought the Departed on the same order, now I have to wait till next week for both to ship as I decided on super saver shipping...

The Prestige was basically a blind buy for me, but reading this post has me more excited about this movie.

A definate blind buy for me also. The trailer on one off the recent blu-ray releases conviced me. It looks like a great film.

I haven't seen either one, but I find it interesting that between "The Prestige" and "Babel", "The Prestige" is ranked higher on imdb.com, got better ratings overall from the critics listed on rottentomatoes.com, and made more money, but "Babel" is the one that won the Golden Globe and is up for the Oscar for best picture. I know that the Best Picture winners aren't necessarily box office successes, but just find it interesting that "Babel" was behind by all 3 counts I listed.

IT seems rare that the academy ever picks the fan favorite film that year as there movie of the year. Not saying it doesn't happen, but its rare. I know a lot of people that have seen babel and didn't like it, but I haven't heard one person say they didn't like The Prestige.
