I have an Archos AV700 and wanted a real nice pair of headphones to use to watch movies on it. I was looking at the Grado sr-80's. Is this over kill and the unit wouldn't be able to even make use of them? Or will this work well? Alot of the headphones I but for it sound fine with the music and that (MP3's), but when I go to action movies looking for the real deep bass and zipping of the bullets they just fall really short. Thanks for your opinions and responses in advance.

I just went through an extensive headphone search for myself this week. Check out http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/ They like the sr-60 better.

I tried out a Grado sr 60 today. Very nice sound but the cord was too thick for me.

I was just looking for something easy for dog walking with the best sound. Sennheiser PX100 was the answer.

It may not have the answer for a movie watching experience but they do a pretty deep review on each. Hope this helps a bit.

I have the SR60s and really like them in general. I use them occasionally with my zune but I have to agree that the the cord is too long and bulky to use when you are moving around.

If the cord was thinner i would have bought them for sure. They sound awesome.

I would definitely recommend against doing in-ear monitors for watching movies. I remember I tried using my Shure E4cs on my home theater system once with Dolby Headphone and a headphone amp, and it didn't sound so well. For movies, I use some Sennheiser HD-595s. Although these are a little bigger than the Grados you mention. The 595s are known as somewhat of a swiss army knife of headphones. A lot of people use them for gaming and movies along with listening to music. Also, they are very easily driven. However, if your portable, they are a little bulky.

I really like the Sennheiser PMX-40 behind the ear headphones I got from Amazon for $25, esp since after griping to them about taking so long to arrive, they sent me a second pair free. Anyway they sound and look great anywhere you are. The higher models like the PMX-100 are probably a lot better but for me the PMX-40s are fine.

I received a pair of Shure E500 in ear headphones for Christmas. And I have too say once you find the correct ear sleeve they sound amazing. I highly recommend checking them out but you do have to spend a little time with them to find the correct sleeves and placement in ear. They seem too be smoothing out along the entire music spectrum as time passes by also. I'm at about 15 hours of use now.

I am not very happy with the wire noise from my in ear headphones. The rustling noise that resonates up to your ears whenever the wire rubs on anything.
