View Full Version : Pioneer says BDP-HD1 not shipping until January 1 ????

I called (insert company name) to inquire about my BDP-HD1 order. They said it would not arrive until January.

I then called Pioneer. The representative said that no vendors have the player, as they are not shipping until January 1. I questioned that, since folks on this forum have received and installed the player. She repeated - "not shipping until January 1". I said I guess I will buy a Sony player and she said "fine with me".

Twice I have been embarrassed by information incorrect received when I called Pioneer - and I don't think this is correct either. I wish the support staff was as good as Chris.

I was going to call the Robert (spoken of highly by many forum members) to see if he had any, but first I asked the Pioneer rep if (insert Robert's company's name) was an authorized vendor (was not on the Pioneer web site). She said no, and I would not get a warranty.

If anyone knows how I may get one of these players, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks!

Sorry, can't help with the "where to get it" question, but the info you received is wrong. The players are available (maybe not intended to be, but a few apparently are) because I viewed one last night (neighbor just got it yesterday).

We already received our first shipment of players and not one has sold since most people are waiting to see what is going to happen at CES.

Unfortunately the information that you received was 100% incorrect. I received my BDP-HD1 yesterday. I ordered it a while back from the Pioneer Retail store. Not sure where you can get one right now, pretty sure you will not be able to do so right now. From what people are saying, Tweeter and Magnolia should be getting their shipments next week some time. Jeff from the Pioneer store said that they sold out, but were getting another shipment in for store pickup only, no shipping them out. Check with them or Tweeter/Magnolia.

Since they're out there now - I would sure like to hear some detailed user reports on the BDP-HD1.

Any "freeze" issues?

Is the remote more responsive than the Sony? Or is there a 2-3 second lag when punching buttons?

How's the scanning? Jumps? Course or smooth?

Chapter skip fast?

Hiccups?

I posted a very detailed review of mine on Wednesday night. Check the sticky at the top.

Bob

We're in Toronto. We've had the units since Tuesday.

Has anyone received a unit from other than a Pioneer store? If so, what stores have received shipments? Every time I call Best Buy or Tweeter, I get a different answer.

A couple of hours ago, I received an email from Pioneer Electronics (no doubt since I'm on their mailing list due to registering several products on their website) saying the BDP-HD1 is "now arriving" at specialty retailers. If nothing else, this is a good sign it's going to be available soon (hopefully before January 1st).

What does this player offer over the existing BD players to justify its much higher price?

Has anyone been able to purchase a Pioneer Elite at a Best Buy, Tweeter, or "retailer" other than Pioneer's own stores? Does anyone have any information on when they might be available for purchase? My current information says BB on 1/24 and Tweeter on 12/29 or 1/3 depending on who you ask.

Tweeter in Houston told me today that their computer now says 1/03/07. They had previously said 12/29/06 when I asked last week. I have a pre-order with deposit on one, so I am following closely.

Seems about right, stopped by tweeter today and they said that they are due in atlanta on the 7th and in the tweeter stores here in charlotte the next day the 8th. Also told me that the tri-state tweeter (NC,GA and SC) are only getting 70 units between about 32 stores and 22 of those units are already sold. Also told me that just because there are more units than stores doesnt mean they will have any for (stock). This first shipment was only to cover the units already sold and your store "might" get a couple extra. Could be a marketing ploy but suckered me in to putting a deposit down.

Just heard January 8th from the Tweeter here in Houston. Hope we're zeroing in on it.

@#%^&*(!) 16 business days to get units into stores is f__king ridiculous. Had I know this on 12/19, I would have spent the extra $250 and bought one directly from Pioneer.

Just spoke with Pioneer Customer Service and they told me units were shipped on 12/22/2006. They were able to tell me where units had been ordered, but could not tell me where units were shipped. I spoke with my local Best Buy and they are now quoting 1/14 for advance orders and suggesting pre-orders.

Has anyone bought a unit from other than a Pioneer store?

Maybe it is not that bad of news, if there is big news of new products at CES then you still have the chance to cancel without loosing your deposit. Tweeter will refund a deposit, not sure about the other stores. This is how I am looking at it anyway.

AMEN!

Every day that passes I get more & more disgusted with Pioneer. This entire product release has been a cluster F__K!

The Tweeter in Peabody, MA confirmed 1/8/07 as the new date for the Pioneer. The saleman told me the constant date changes are the running joke in the store.

Well at least Tweeter is consistant. Spoke to the Sound Advice store in Orlando where I have a pre-order and they said in warehouse 1/8 and in store 1/10.

Myer Emco in the Washington DC Area received their shipment yesterday. The had three left that were not pre-orders and I just picked one up. They had it on sale for $1,400. There are possibly two more left for someone in the area, but call first and act quick. This confirms for me that they are being shipped to stores other than Pioneer's own stores.

Will be watching my first movie in a few minutes with my family.

I had bought the PRO-FHD1 and ordered the BDP-HD1 from Tweeter the first week of Nov. I also ordered an AV stand at the same time. I dropped by Tweeter to pick up the stand today and can verify that their computer shows the BDP-HD1 due in the warehouse 1/8/2007, and in stores a day or two later.

Maybe the salesman noticed the tear in my eye and felt sorry for me so he let me take home the Panny Blu-ray until the Pio comes in. Just thought that I'd acknowledge some exceptional customer service, something that you don't often see anymore. Kudos to Tweeter!

I just talked to Tweeter, and the word is it is in the warehouse, and will be in the store on Monday. Now, I am torn, whether to stay with my order, or wait, due to the lack of advanced audio codec support.
