What an outstanding home theater room you have! My current house is too small for a dedicated HT room, so I have to use my family room for my HT hobby. My next house will definitely have a separate HT room such as yours. Did you do any of the work yourself, or did you have pros construct it for you? Thanks for posting.

Thanks,

The only thing I contracted out was the carpet. I am in the process of building a new addition that will house the theater, since my current theater is in half of my garage and I would like to return to a garage. In the new theater I am contracting double 5/8 drywall & GG, elec., HVAC, and carpet. I will do all the rest. I figure the new theater will take a year to complete. Not in that big of a rush since I have the old theater to ply with.

WillyGib,
You must have a slew of DIY skills to do such a professional looking job. I have no problem swinging a hammer myself and will tackle most any project except for plumbing, HVAC and electrical work. I'll bet you saved enough money on your theater to pay for most of your components. Again, great job.

Don't know. I didn't keep track of what I spent. Even if I did I wouldn't keep that around in case the wife came across it.

Mighty Impressive! How long did it take you to build?

Two Years, let me explain. The more you read AVS the more you think you need to do. I thought I was done, then there was 2.35 constant height, new screen and masking curtains, and then there were acoustical treatments, OC703 around the room and GOM to cover it. Then I wanted a proscenium, crown molding and chair rails. Now I am building a completely new theater. The old theater has some shortcomings, like AC and sound isolation. I am hoping the new theater will be completed by the New Year (2008)
