Hi guys. so I need some help please.
It is my fathers birthday coming up and I know that he wants a portable DVD player. Thing I want to get a very good one, and I can not find a single site that caters to this. Plenty about home theater but nothing about these portable players!
Now I need some help. I would like it to have a relatively big screen I guess at least 8"
Also divx/xvid capabilities are a must. This way I can load a bunch of episodes on one DVD and have fun on vacation.
In addition it needs to have video and line audio out so that if he goes somewhere he can hook it up to a TV and have good quality sound and video. now can you guys please help me find something like this. I would really appreciate it , thanks in advance.

I bought the Toshiba SD-KP19 from Costco for $170. It has an 8 inch screen is DivX certified, but best of all it also plays off an SD or MMC card direcectly increasing battery life. I have nn't time how long the bettery lasts reading SD cards. It has a stereo audio out as well as composite video.
The photo viewing sucks, but I am happy with the video quality and unlike many other portable DVD players the volume actually does get pretty loud. On the down side it does automtaiccly stretch the picture to fit in to the 16:9 form factor.

I was sick and in the hospital durring the holidays, so to pass the time my parents bought me a portable DVD player.
They got me the Philips PET724/37.
I love this little gadget!!!
It has a 7" screen (which I realize is smaller by today's standards, but), the quality of image on this thing is outstanding! It easily beats several other 8" players! The sound quality on this player is also amazing! No volume issues here what so ever.
It has a battery life of 4 hrs which is pretty decent. The price is very affordable too...
Overall, I am extremely happy with this player!
Note that Philips also makes a "higher end" model which has an 8.5" screen instead and a battery life of 6 hrs.
