I thought Nintendo gave up on the "next generation" - then shot themselves in the foot with the stupid name "Wii". Despite that, I got one for the kids anyway (teens hooked on their 360s). This thing has been burning since 6:30 am this morning. Even the grandparents (60s and 70s) were playing bowling and tennis this afternoon - their first ever video game despite plenty of opportunities at their families' homes.

Nintendo has a winner - no doubt about it. Who cares about the format war - the Wii will compliment either system.

I agree with you 100%. I have all three "next-gen" systems, and the wii is getting way more play then the other two at the moment. To top it all off, as of right now I'm playing it with sd cables. Who knew?!?! :)

Ditto! My son and I were just talking about how much more we like the Wii than our PS3's right now. My son and I both got Wiis today and, up until recently, I'd been playing through Gears of War for the third time. I'm racking up the achievement points for completing it on Insane mode. Anyhow, I've already beaten Resistance on the PS3 and there's really nothing out right now on that system that I'm interested in. Any game that's coming out on the PS3 that I've already been able to get for the 360, I've done just that . . . bought it for the 360 (for achievement points and XBL purposes). I'm basically waiting for Motorstorm and Lair as well as some of the more impressive upcoming titles.

Anyhow, the Wii is a fantastically designed console. It's incredibly easy to navigate the menus. It's intuitive. It's a blast!!! It also has a bunch of fun games. Sure, it's not got a Gears of War, but it does have COD3, Marvel Alliance, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Red Steel, etc. It has it's engrossing games like that, but then it's got things like Elebits, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and let's not forget Zelda!!!

Our Wiis have been on since about noon today and they're going to get an even longer workout tomorrow!

On my second trip through Gears of War, I got derailed by the Wii. I just find myself turning that on whenever I want to play. I'm about halfway through Zelda, finished Rayman, and played tons of Wiisports... that second trip on Gears will just have to wait.

Yep, I agree, Nintendo has a winner on it's hands.

Well I guess I just have to have one of these as well. I'm going to pick one up beginning of Feb. They should be an ample supply by then.

The bad thing about this is I'm going to have to find a 480 P projector just to have it pixel match it.

Seriously? What do you use now? We're using the component cable & my HD1000U looks incredible.

I gave my son his on launch day but he had to wait untill Christmas for some games. He played Zelda for 11 hours today. We also bought him Rayman rabbits, that game was cracking me up, just plain fun. His time today has been split between Zelda and Gmod 10 for Half Life 2(his brother bought him the download). He also got a 2000 point card and downloaded Mario 64. Will be nice when Nintendo gets some more 64 games on there. We already have all the Nes, Snes, Sega and TG16 games on the modded xbox. Would love to play some Starfox 64 and Golden Eye.

Speaking of downloads, I've blazed through my 2000 point card and I can certainly say the download speeds were extremely fast.

I still say Revolution was a better name. But theyw ere right that the name Wii does eventually sound fine.

I also agree, 100%...Wii is just plain fun and the virtual console functionality is icing on the cake...not to mention that at $250.00 retail this thing is a steal. I had reservations about Nintendo after the 'cube. The reality is that the DS and Wii are winners...the suits at Nintendo "get it." They didn't have to mortgage their company on no-margin hardware or launching a proprietary disc format.

I never got attracted to buying anything else after the PS2. I thought it was rather lame to repeatedly buy everything all over again with the Xbox 360, PS3..but then the Wii on the other hand was already being said to be different from my family members.

I enjoy it a lot and hope many more titles are dedicated to it. I took a break from it since my arms are pretty sore from boxing.
