I have a question to about the Best Buy Replacement plan. The question really goes out to the best buy employees that are also AVS members but anyone else who knows is more than welcome to answer!

I bought a PSP almost 2 years ago and have not been very happy with Sony for sucking so bad with it and have not released many to any good things for it. Also it's been locking up like mad and it's time to get rid of it.

I bought the 2 year product Replacement plan because I knew the first gen psp's had problems and it's over in March 07. My question is can I take it to the store and say it's broken (it really is) and give me a gift card to replace it on something else?

I was reading on the website and such that says they will give you a gift card so you can replace your product with something else in the store or the same product. BUT it says you have to do it online and of course thats where I run into a problem.

They ask for a Number called PRP# and it just has a lot of 00000000(and one last number) or something like that and it says no record found so I guess I have no choice but to take it to the store and I would rather do it that way anyways!

So do you think it will be a problem and think I can get that money back either in cash or a gift card that day? I really hope I can so I can use it :)

I really am new to the BB plans and just had that question. I hope it works out as I am going in tomorrow just to find out but I would like to know what I should be expecting so I know what to say or ask for. I would guess the line will be out the door so I hope I can use that to my advantage and give me what I want.

Anything help would be great!!!

Dude that psp isn't worth the paper it's written on. Good luck, I hope you don't have high blood pressure.

they have to experience the same problems you speak of- because the PSP is still in production they will "replace" it under the "replacement plan"

Sorry I didn't notice this sooner, I don't usually venture into this particular part of the forum.

The reason for the "dummy" PRP was the system was down the day it was purchased. An employee can look it up at the store using your information. You can get store credit or swap it for something you'd like. Either way, you are going to be taken care of. At the very least, you can get the PRP number in the system and call the 1-800 number for a voucher. Either way, that is credit back at the store.

I've bought lots of things at Best Buy before and after I've worked for the company with PRPs and PSPs. Normally there pretty good about that kind of stuff (at least our store was) but I've heard some nightmare stories about other Best Buy (makes us hard workers look bad).

Good Luck with that.
