I`m assuming The lack of a thread before mine speaks for itself.

I guess the bigger question is: Why did Nicolas Cage do this Movie other than the obvious reason? :confused: Most of his Movies are pretty good.

I was embarassed to have shown it as a feature Movie on Christmas Night... Had wanted to see this in the Theater when it came out, but didnt have time, so was really looking forward to seeing a good scary Movie, but it wasnt scary at all, and might rank as one of worst Movies all time, that I have seen.

I recently watched the original and did not find it scary at all or even all that thought provoking. I think for the original, at least those that remember it when first released recall what the impact it may have created at that period of time. But for a first viewing now it did nothing for me.

Hands down the worst film I watched all year..Lady in the Water should get the Best Picture nod before one more human is permanently scarred by watchin' Wicker Man!! :mad:

This felt more like a cheap 80s era`made for tv' movie than a mid-budget `scarey' BO movie!

Pretty bad. Pretty slow. Pretty shallow. Pretty Pretty grainy PQ in some parts, pretty nice PQ in others.

Despite all these "prettys" the show is BUFUGLY all around. :(

Has anyone that has commented so far seen the original and this new remake? If so, does it follow the same premise or did they change it for the times. Frankly, I can see how the premise may have worked in 1973 but I can't see how it can carry any weight in 2006. Maybe this was the problem and as a result they ended up with a convoluted mess.

I mistook this movie for another movie I had seen the trailer for recently and was expecting some stuff that never materialized.

Not to mention the ,"We don't need men!" Undertones. :confused:

The Original has 2 different version one is with 88mins runtime the other is 187mins! WTF?

Hm, I actually like it. Sure, not a great movie, but I thought it was well worth watching. Cinematography was interesting - the flashbacks that tweak, the soaring camera over the bee field, the varied and symbolic types of rooms - all done very well. Costumes were also very interesting, really added to the characters.

Sure, I have shoes that can act better than NC, but I really enjoyed this one.

Ah, the light bulb just went off. :) I could have sworn the movie title sounded familiar but Nicolas Cage threw me off. I watched the original movie not too long ago (after a trip to IMDB refreshed my memory). The original was interesting given the actors in the movie and using the time (year) it was made for a frame of reference for the subject matter. And for us old timers you get to see Britt Ekland naked. :) I may have to watch the remake just to see how it compares.

I'd have to agree. I saw this on a plane with my PB, I had to watch it because there was nothing else to see. Sad part is that Cage was actually listed as one of the producers of this movie. It was pure crap. And I really wanted to slap that Willow girl upside the head.

Agreed. The original was very unique. Especially Chris Lee's performance. And Britt's dance was way cool. I prefer the shorter of the 2 versions.

I was willing to overlook all of the flaws in logic, all the goofy/crappy characters, all of the HUH??? moments, if just for a great nasty and unpredictable coda.
But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
We get the most obvious cop-out final scene imaginable.

This is by far the worst movie NC has been in IMO.

I remeber laughing my ass off at the Highlight reel someone posted on youtube. It was hilarious but of course I never got teh urge to actully watch the flick. Cage does some cool stuff but he also tends to do certian movies just for the money.

Well, it was so bad it was kind of enjoyable for that very reason..

I thought the actors were having fun with it. I loved the way Cage hammed up lines such as: "Step away from the bicycle!"

emmmmmmm - average flick. I love Edward Woodward though. Mr Equalizer himself!
